It is honestly just perfect to me I couldn’t see anyone else better for this role. She gives so much emotion just in that snippet of her singing. Thank you for giving such a great reaction.

I've been crying since it dropped last night 😂The music just gets to me, and hits that nostalgic part of me that loved seeing this as a little girl. It's beautiful, and as a 90s kid, I can't wait! I know a lot of people were hoping for the fire engine red hair, but that's not a natural hair color. The ginger-red hair is what natural red hair looks like, so I think it fits 😊I know she's gonna knock this out of the park. I'm probably gonna be playing that trailer for days 🤣

As a ginger, I remember seeing our first redheaded princess and a mermaid to boot back in '89!!! It meant so much to me. And I for one am thrilled to share Ariel with all the little black girls (and not so little) seeing themselves as Ariel.

i wish that skin color wasn’t even something people were talking about when it comes to this film or any film in general, i wish it was just taken the same way it would be taken if a white person was cast. they’d literally give it no second thought. i’m so excited about this movie, i cannot wait to see more of her as ariel. she’s so beautiful, definitely fits being the little mermaid amazingly. the little mermaid being my absolute favorite movie growing up, i am EXTREMELY excited about this. the trailer and her voice made me cry. i’m middle eastern and growing up, jasmine was the only middle eastern disney princess that there was that i’d be able to connect with, and i and would go as her for halloween till i was 11. i’m so glad that y’all have this, and i know all the little kids will be ecstatic for this representation and have a new favorite movie and feel very seen and special. can’t wait 🥰

People have to understand, this is just a teaser. The film doesn't come out for another eight months. When it comes to the pure red hair and the lighting and CGI, they're still working on this. Heck, the actors are still re-recording lines. This film will be punched up and polished until just before it's release. We've all heard some reshoots are being done still on Wakanda Forever and that releases in a month a half. So, stop going on about the look people. This was Disney just giving us a small taste, it's not even close to the final feast.

i love that someone finally talks about the most important part, which is that ariel's character at the core is about the voice. her pure, gorgeous voice makes her what she is the most, not that she was white in a cartoon. ask any little kid to tell you about ariel and they'll tell you she's a mermaid with a pretty voice. if you ask about color I BET you the only thing they'll mention is her red hair or green tails. i'm just glad disney understood that they needed to care about finding an actress that embodied the purity and charm of ariel through the voice, someone who could sing, bc that's what she is about more than anything.

But her voice is true disney magic to my ears. her whole aperance is soft and soulful, and i love the rastas, they could go even darker, like a firy dark red. people are so hypocrite. they say disney needs to change and blablabla but When they change everybodys hating on it. I dont, its just new, and people can never be pleased. I am here for halle.

The little mermaid is my favorite movie, there were Rumors that Zendaya was gonna be Ariel and i was here for it, when they announced Halle i did get angry and sad, but then i heard HALLE’s voice in the “cool people” music video and i was like “Ok…she IS ARIEL” i believe now, HALLE was meant to play this part.

Anyone can say what they want, but Halle was made to sing this song! People like what they like and I get it, but her talent is undeniable! If you don't like her style of singing, then it's not for you, but that will NOT take away from what this young lady can do. I'm a grown ass man and I got goosebumps listening. Not a lot of singers have that effect. At least, not on me. She mixed a little old with the new. Perfect blend. She has the Disney voice, but I think they allowed her to put a little of herself in it and for that, I applaud Disney. She got this! Great reaction! Pretty much the same as the wifey and daughters reaction and I get it! And for the ignorance out there...a mermaid is a "mythical" creature...NOT a white, black, brown, red or whatever color you THINK IT should be. She can be ALL of that! It's NO knock to the original! No matter how good the movie does, the original is still the original in which people around the world will still watch and prefer it and Jodi Benson STILL sang the hell out of it back then! Two things can be true. Both ladies have and will do "Ariel" proud. It is what it is, and that is a great story with great music by great singers. PERIOD!

I never was bothered by them casting a woman of color to play Ariel. All I cared about was them giving her red hair, that she can sing/ has the right voice for the role, and can act. She's perfect.

Im disappointed her hair isnt a brighter red😢 i used to dye mine Ariel red and damn it would have looked so good on her. Imagine as shes singing the luminous red hair flowing in the ocean. Shimmering in the lights refractions like a ruby. It would have been so magical. Im Literally fckin sad. im so disappointed😭😭😭

Regarding her hair color, these limited scenes shown arre quick glimpses and are mostly dark scenes. If they keep it the same as the animated, if I recall correctly, that close up scene at the end, there is a storm going on above the water and I think it was dark as well. Which means that it was have diffused the light quite a bit under the water, meaning her hair would not be as vibrant. Regardless, of whether this is a lighting thing or not, if she has vibrant red hair, or if it actually is as muted as in this scene, I don't think it really matters. It look amazing, and I am looking forward to seeing it! Some people are going to prefer the animated movie from their childhood and that's cool, they aren't going to pull the animated movie from being available. This is just one more artistic depiction of the story, and I'm here for it.
