pretty darn cool. the wife has just about the reaction i would have, well me maybe more, your always finding gold, so she is just a little more acclimated to the fever. putting that switch in seemed like a whole lotta work. i would have used a 5 gallon bucket until it became too far to carry, then install a switch. the worms, put metal bar in the ground and tap it. works with earth-fishing worms. i was just thinking, that bag of gold dirt, didn't include the footage of the 2-3 other targets. man, that's gonna be one heck of a bag of dirt!!!!!!!

Jeff, Harbor Freight sells a 70 gph high capacity, 1550 cfm, dust collector. How about something like that to vacuum up all of the small dirt and soil? It collects debris into a bag that can be collected and run through your system to extract any gold, even fine gold. You have what appears to be about 4-5" PVC to bring fresh air down from above. Something similar could work for the vacuum. Make the PVC slightly larger than the hose and neck the PVC down to the size of the hose. When you are finished using the hose, disconnect the neck down from the PVC, turn the hose around and store the hose inside the PVC. You can extend as necessary.

Had another couple of thoughts about this last night Jeff. First thought was a warning. I'm not sure how much fresh air your current system provides but if the vacuum draws more than your system provides that could be hazardous so be careful until you get to know about it. Second thought was that if you were to start the vacuum and fresh air system maybe 30 min to an hour before you started to work in the mine it might be possible that the vacuum could draw some of that extra moisture out of the mine while the drier fresh air replaces it and it might be a little more comfortable to work down there with less humidity. Just a couple of thoughts.

I would upgrade to one of those small shop vacs, which would speed that up dramatically, like about 20X. And have you thought about using a crow bar rather than that impact chisel to break those sawn blocks off? I think that also would be faster. You might want a decently long one, maybe the next size up from standard. I think I might have seen a Slim or 20 in there :-). Sucker can rip, too. Laying the track was fun to watch, I'll bet it's a real joy to do, as well, especially when there is a whole MESS of it to do. And a SWITCH!

Great video jeff! You should dig a small tunnel in the lower part of the face and run your track into it so you can put your ore cart under the upper part of the face that way you can use your chipping gun to fill the old cart

First, with a track switch obviously 🙄 wow that was a lot of work putting in that switch but it came out sweeet. And nice size nugget in the bag this Patreon says if it’s a new record finders keepers and give it away when the record gets broke at least the finder can have it for a little while. Hey Jeff, love your channel. Been watching "Outback Opal Hunters" on Discovery. They use a digger to get thru the hard dirt quicker in search of opal's. It comes apart, goes down the hole and gets put back together to dig. Is there a smaller version you could use? And NO....your not going to get wet!!!

Idea Jeff. Btw great nugget. Here goes. In the mines I saw a big rig vacume. It came in when the CIL tank overflowed. The first tank. It's carbon rich. Get a shop vac amp it up. Cloth sacks in air trap everything we had them at the mill. They processed them too. You could build a miners size air suction drege not water. No more ore carts mucking. Just take it small and super size it. When you held the dust buster up my mind clicked

Look into diamond concrete and stone chains for your chainsaw. Not cheap but if it lasts without the downtime of constant sharpening, might be worth it. A little cheaper alternative would be carbide teeth, but not sure how carbide will react to stone. Go cheap on the first carbide blade and see if you have problems with teeth chipping out, if so, don't bother with carbide.

Well an idea to transfer muck from her area to the ore cart, could be a rolloff carpet that you see on some pickup trucks, a heavy fabric that is laid on the ground, with a crank arm connected to a drum, extend the carpet to her side load it on and crank it back to the ore cart or extend the drum past the ore dump and roll it past the barrel hole and let gravity do the work

When I was 14 i started my own construction company..i poured foundations, did additions, roofing siding, interior remodeling, customer millwork. I saw that concrete chainsaw and i wanted one. I didn't buy one because I started a tow truck company and ended up doing that more than construction

If it were me and the drift was going to continue deeper than what is there, I'd put in a switching station for a manual turnout to another track. In the beginning just use some five gallon buckets or a air assist vacuum lift system that would shoot the muck through a tube into the cart! Just a thought! Be Well Friends!

Watch-out for baby Graboids, actually their momma in that red dirt. You need to get something that pounds to a set rhythm. They could probably tunnel better and save you some time and effort. Wow, that is a rich area you are mining right now. Can't wait to see just how much you get out of there. Great video coverage of you two drift mining.

Get one of those steam carpet cleaners. Like an encapsulated land/mine dredge. Might need to modify the squeegee or brush on it, and you wouldn't need to heat the water. But I think that would be a great way to lift everything off the false bedrock.
