Your pure, innocent, and enthusiastic embrace is just so damn great. You use words to describe it that are dead-fuckin-on, and it is inspiring to watch. Throw up the fuckin horns for these two. HELL YEAH. Hands down, my favorite Judas Priest song. Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing KILL it on guitar, and Rob Halford's voice hits like a sledgehammer. This came out when I was 13 and yes I cranked it to 11 every time it came on (but had to turn it down seconds later because, you know, parents). For your next one, I recommend "Turbo Lover" or "Breakin' the Law". To answer your question JP formed in 1969, releasing their first major album, Rocka Rolla, in 1974. This song was released in 1982, the song that made them HUGE in the United States. This song was literally everywhere in 1982.

You asked about what time frame Priest was around. They started in the 1970's and are still around today. One of the guitarists left, then the second got Parkinsons, so he is semi-retired. He contributed to the last album that they released in 2018, but didn't tour with the band that year. I saw them on that tour, and Rob Halford is still amazing. He's one of my top two metal voices of all time, and unlike the other, Sebastian Bach, Rob's still got his voice. You should check out "No Surrender" or "Lightning Strikes" off of their last album to see just how much the guys still bring to the table.

Painkiller was 1990, they worked hard to rid themselves of the hairmetal image they had gotten from the Turbo album in 86. Plus, the era called for heavier stuff. Painkiller was the heaviest thing they EVER did, and they totally redeemed themselves. This song is from 1982 and one of their better albums. They've been doing albums 1974 to present. My personal fave is either Sad Wings of Destiny from 76 or Stained Class from 78 with Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith as contenders. Judas Priest was a local band in Birmingham, England when guitarist K.K. Downing and bassist Ian Hill joined in 1971... Rob Halford (vocals) joined in 1973 after replacing founding singer Al Atkins... Glenn Tipton (guitar) joined in 1974 as Judas Priest was first getting signed, making them a twin-guitar band. Halford contributed his high-range vocals, and also introduced the band members to S&M leather and studs outfits by 1978. Priest debuted in 1975, but were not initially successful... but were then signed to a US label in 1977... They were an essential band that took heavy metal music into a faster, more elaborate form of music in the late 70's and 80's... Priest and Motorhead were 2 UK bands that inspired a plethora of metal bands like Saxon, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Venom, Death, Pantera, etc... (It was odd that Judas Priest became huge in the 80's, while Motorhead could not score a commercial hit record) Priest kept touring consistently and finally scored a gold selling record in 1980 w/ their 6th album 'British steel'... This was their 8th album 'Screaming for vengeance', which went platinum (1 million copies sold) in the US (2 million now) and made them one of the world's biggest heavy metal bands in 1982. They were a prominent band selling millions of records in the 80's, but would fall behind in popularity to Iron Maiden, and later Metallica. Still, the voice of Rob Halford... the twin guitar attack of Glenn Tipton & K.K. Downing set a benchmark for excellence in metal music... Judas Priest will finally be inducted into the Rock n' roll Hall of Fame this year. Listen to the Priest songs 'Last rose of summer' and 'Angel'... u will be very surprised. Other Priest songs - 'Breaking the law' ... 'Living after midnight' ... 'Rapid fire' ... 'Electric Eye'... 'Love bites'... 'Heavy metal'... 'Exciter' ... 'Solar angels'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘

Priest is one of the greatest bands of all time. "breaking the law" and their cover of "Johnny b Goode" is amazing! there was a big kerfuffle when Rob came out.
@paulsmith2516

There was no "kerfuffle" when Rob came out. Some mild shock or surprise maybe then after thinking about it for just a few minutes most fans just thought, "yeah that actually explains a lot" lol, the leather the studs the whips an chains etc. Really was a non event of an announcement.

I will never forget my 1st experience with Metal. At 14 yrs old I went to a Priest concert in 1982 on their Screaming for Vengeance tour which is the one this song released. The concert started with the sound of a Harley reving up super loud and then Halford riding it onto stage to begin. Been a fan since but that album is still my favorite.

'll never forget this song, as a "juke" played it on a certain night back in '82. I awoke in a broke-down van outside Seroka's bar, stinking, hungover, comin' down after a 3-day high, hurtin', and mean. The "biker club" I belonged to, just buried its leader, after a drunken 16-year-old girl killed him in a traffic accident. I went back into the bar to see if a "cold-one" would help my disposition. Short story, a fellow member and sadistic sociopath named "Skeech," vying for leader, started riding me. Angry words and punches were thrown, as I saw him make a move for his "Python." I drew my Colt .45 first, placed the business end a couple inches from his bleeding nose, giving him a hard look into eternity. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see unfriendly hands reach for "iron and steel," interrupted by a blast through the window from Seroka's double-barrel "coach gun." My friend "Shades" was on the other end of it ...smiling and telling everyone to throw their hardware out of that window. I relieved Skeech of his .357, grab my mug of beer and smashed it across his face. As Skeech laid on the floor with blood flowing over what was left of his teeth, like water over a dam, Shades and I split, kicking over bikes and haulin' ass as far and as fast as we could. Miles later, we hid in a cornfield that night. I REALLY like this song, ...lotta good memories.

Another uk band that is really good is Saxon, they are somewhat similar to Judas Priest and I would recommend for you guys to listen to "Wheels of Steel" or you could even to one of their newer hits called "Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)". The singer of the band is Biff Byford and he is an amazing singer, even in their newer hit that was released this year he can still hit high vocals.

Great call Saxon have bee around for over 40 years and have nearly 25 studio albums so they have plenty to choose from - I recommend Crusader, Dallas 1pm and Battering Ram and of course Wheels of Steel.

And to see Amber rocking out to this (and Alice Cooper, who my brother was also a huge fan of-- the other day,) esp. knowing how different her reaction would've been a year ago, and the evolution of her music appreciation, is just one of the coolest things ever!!!
