IT was ,and her duty was fulfilled ,......except to her children. She was a very cold woman .Very materialistic. She was never loved by the British public ,but she was hugely respected . She wasnt a bad person ,nor will she be remembered for any goodness either. The last one thrust on a people for arrangement ,and not love. Sadly ,the last Czarina seemed to have been similar . Unbending , yet one was devoted to her kids ,whilst the other put them second place . We may have had a different world ,had Mary been the Czarina ,and Alexandra Queen.

At one time, I met a young lady with the Surname of Lyon her Mother, a Countess, was a distant cousin of Queen Elizabeth. In Royal families, at times clothing was passed on to relatives. In this case, my friend had a "dress-up box" of old clothes that included some clothing from this Queen Mary... I was so excited see these elegant pure silk heavily embroidered garments and my friend allowed me to wear a fabulous cape that had belonged to Queen Mary... We went out in the evening and I wore Queen Mary's cape... I felt like a Queen... wow... I wonder what every happened to those clothes...

Erroneous information in this video. The Royal Family does not "govern" the nation. They are figureheads, not politicians. Furthermore, Queen Mary did not have "blood on her hands" when the Russian Tsar was forbidden to come to England. Such a decision would have been made by the British Parliament, not the Royal Family.

Whatever she alluded to, it would have been Parliaments decision. I'm sure if the grave outcome was known, different avenues would have been taken. It was a terrible tragedy thinking of the children but a revolution (unfortunately a bloodbath) was bound to happen. A country where the Ruling Classes had all power, with millions in abject poverty and nothing, it was always going to happen. The splendour they lived in was obscene!

I spy some errors here! Mary was also a well known kleptomaniac. There are many tales of her arriving at country houses of minor royalty with the household staff quickly hiding all the expensive heirlooms, silver, antiques etc. Mary would just pack them into her luggage. And she loved her Emeralds, many of which were bought at an auction of the Russian Royal family jewels after the revolution. She was quite thrifty and dogmatic in her obsession for jewels. Today her Emeralds are known as "Granny's Emeralds".
@michaelmontagu3979
@michaelmontagu3979 2 месяца назад
In fact there are no proven instances of kleptomania. It's a story that has become true by repetition. Evidence shows that she was a speedy payer of accounts and one well known bookseller in Oxford Street said that it was thanks to her lead that the aristocracy gave up their old established habit of letting bills go unpaid. She certainly never refused gifts but her innate sense of dignity wouldn't let her as it were, beg and she certainly wouldn't steal. Queen Mary is a particular interest of mine for a number of reasons, and I have been researching about her for about 10 years. Her daughter in law, Princess Alice, Duchess Of Gloucester, did have a reputation for just picking things up in shops, at least in Melbourne, when Prince Henry was Governor General of Australia. I spent a number of years there when in the Diplomatic Corps, and met people who remembered her visiting shops like David Jones or Myers, and just picking things up and walking out with them. Her equerry and lady in waiting would note what she took and return to the shop to pay.
@zzzbbbooo
@zzzbbbooo 2 месяца назад
That is just wrong. She may have cajoled but she never stole anything.
@michaelmontagu3979
@michaelmontagu3979 2 месяца назад
@zzzbbbooo Exactly so. She was known to say things like, 'I am caressing it with my eyes,' and if something was for sale She would try to negotiate the price. There is a story about her and her lady in waiting visiting Partridge, the antique dealer. Her lady in waiting recognised a crewel work bed cover that she recognised as coming from her childhood home and Mr Partridge offered it as a gift, which she refused. Queen Mary said to her, 'Constance, never refuse a firm offer. I never do.'

If that sorry excuse for a family didnt treat the spares like trash and badmouth them then they would stay loyal.the one who married wallace made the best choice and the way that family treated him was pure disrespectful especially the queen elizabeth mother and sister who turned to train wrecks.and the queen Elizabeth should have thank that uncle stepped down if it wasnt for him she wouldnt have reigned as long as she did.and it called karma edward marriage ro wallace lasted their whole life and queen Elizabeth 3 out 4 kids divorce.and to tell me they didnt give their own cousin asylum and allowed them to be executed in Russia and they think they wasnt gonna pay for it.they in hell

You made a huge mistake and it's documentary. Queen Mary, never married. Victor, he died while they were engaged and didn't 6 months or so later is when her and George got married. Try to get the shit straight. Yes, I study history in the United States and seeing them more. No more than you

Ugh!! I had to stop watching this. WAY too many errors. The DUKE of Wales?? No such thing. At one point this states that Mary married Prince Albert Victor, when the fact that he died before they could is one of the best known facts about them. Then it turns around and calls him her fiance again! And WTH is it with showing photos of the Romanovs when talking about "the Royal Family? When the timeline is still in the 1890s? Yes, they were related and visited each other, but that was not being discussed at that point in the video. Who does your research? Lastly, the repeated clips of films and tv shows about Mary Queen of Scots. WTH, did your researcher just Google " Queen Mary" and grab the first things they saw? You're not even in the right CENTURY, FFS. This is my first and last visit to this channel, and I expect it will be for many. Terrible, terrible, terrible. 😡

I am not sure that American screen writers got it right when showing that much skin when trying to depict life in the Royal family during the Victorian era at any formal event. Hollywood sure does get way too creative sometimes in the costume department.
