Your hair is my dream/goal! I've been wanting to go grey/white for literally decades for just this reason. So of course, at 61, I have only a few strands of steel grey. 😕

can i ask you what brand of semi permanent hair dye you use? i tried got2b color pop todays on my salt and pepper hair, coz i wanted BLUE lol and all it did was color the more white hairs at the front to look GRAY.... do you have any suggestions for blue that will wash away, but actually looks like a fun blue? please help, i can't find any... well i found one, but they don't sell it here in canada :( thnx for any help you can give! x

@@elaineremains Hi Elaine, I've used all kinds of brands and shades over the years... some of my favourites have been Colorista Washouts by L'oreal and Schwarzkopf Live Semi-Permenant... I've even been known to use the permenent Schwarzkopf Live, but I mix just a pea-size amount in with my conditioner for a pastel effect that washes out in a few washes. Oh and Bleach London is another one I like, they do a lovely blue one... blue weekend I think. I'm in the UK though, so I'm not sure if you'll have the same brands in Canada.

It didn’t look good. It was a faded dirty pink with no warmth since the gray hair has no pigment.

I stopped a lady recently because she had amazing lilac hair, turns out she used a purple shampoo over grey, looked amazing. The color I want and can't get! Can't wait to be fully grey. It's just patches I have now

You can get lavender toners. Which I use for my lilac hair

@@thegreenmanofnorwich She has a channel and went through her grey hair transition experience on it. She has exceptionally healthy hair. After the process of going grey took her several years, she ultimately decided to re-dye her hair. To each is his/her own, but she looked so much better with the grey hair imho.

Yes, I have used the Overtone in vibrant silver, and it conditions my hair while making it a darker grey, which washes out after several washes. It truly depends on what colour one is putting on grey hair. Great product!!

Hazardous Nic Hi I am so sorry to hear that, I had bald spots after a bleaching the peroxide was higher than usual in the kit 40 vol, if you want to activate and speed growth this is how I did it Use Essential oils of and or dried or fresh of these herbs 1 Rosemary 2 Sage 3 Thyme 4 Aloe Vera 5 Clove 6 Anise 7 Coriander. Organic Iodine aka kelp and biotin pills also help With dried or fresh herbs make a tea (I soak mine in a jar in filtered water in the refrigerator overnight) strain I use a cotton coffee filter put it in a spray bottle massage it into your scalp daily keep it in the fridge. Oils add a few drops to the tea shampoos etc. I hope this helps and wish you luck

I have gray hair and I really miss the days of blue and purple hair. I should do it again. I had a lot of fun being unusual colors. I, too, have been gray since I turned 20, and people can be cruel. It doesn't bother me too much, but I have had friends who were very upset to be prematurely aged by other people. To me it literally is ONLY hair....

I believe this. She went w a non for grey hair overtone. Then have a melt down before its even dry. Then rush into doing a ton of drying treatments to encourage staining and pitch a fit over the tiniest tinge left. It wasn't even long enough to call it staining or go w a dye job.

I have often put various shades of purple into my grey hair and some I didn’t like but no point in crying on RU-vid about it - it washes out in a few weeks. The pink looked good, what we actually got to see of it anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The colour at the end was drab.

Danelia, that’s so true. Your hair can make or break you. If you don’t like the color or style of your hair, it can leave you with no confidence. And we all need confidence for sure.

Exactly. The whole "it's just hair" and "It will grow back, it doesn't matter" makes no sense to me. Yeah, it will grow back eventually but it takes a LONG time. The average hair growth is only about 6 inches in a whole YEAR. And if you botch the color or damage it, how would that not affect your confidence? We wear our hair everyday and it's one of the first things that people notice on someone.

Hi Deirdre! It was an awful bright shade of pink when it was dried. I instantly regretted it. After washing several times I was left with a yellow tone. I lasted a year and then caved and dyed it. I blame the pandemic and Zoom fatigue 😥

Nope, it does NOT wash out. I waited a year. It had a permanent yellow tint. Sorry, but it does not wash out of all shades of grey.

She was told by multiple people that it would wash out, which it didn't. That was the point.

Hi Trina, I thought I would like the colour and that it would wash out over time. As soon as I saw the colour I immediately hated it. I hated the patchiness and the shade. I trusted others who told me it would wash out. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I love gray hair, am growing mine out as we speak also lol, but I do know that Overtone makes a specific line for gray hair. I don't think that this rose gold was included in that line but I also didn't thunk it came out that bad. I mean rose gold is pinkish gold no? I really liked the gray/silver on her. I didn't mine the pinkish gray either. Not really a fan of the brown but hey to each their own. It's her hair!

I think it looked great AFTER she used the Overtone (although I initially thought that there was something wrong with the product itself because I've seen lots of people use Overtone rose gold, and the color in the tub is always a bright pink, NOT an orange color). Obviously she didn't like it, but I'm not really sure why because she didn't say... like, did she somehow think that it was going to come out one uniform color even though her hair originally wasn't one solid color? Or was it because it didn't pick up on ALL of the gray on top?.. Not that it matters, she didn't like it, so she started washing it out. Ok, great. It looked BEAUTIFUL with that light pastel pink color! I just can't imagine having the patience to grow out ALL of your gray hair, only in the end to dye it back to a med/dark blonde. To me personally, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, because the very little bit of pink that was left in her hair would've washed out sooner rather than later, which is a very different story for the blonde color. I have about 40% gray hair, most of which is the top layer of my hair that everyone sees. So my hair is light/med brown and gray. I color my hair purple with Arctic Fox plum. The brown parts are tinted purple (actually very purple in the sunlight), and the gray's on top look like intentional bright purple highlights... I prefer to use direct pigments because they DO wash out, you don't have to wait for them to grow out, or keep up on them if you don't have the time or money (etc). Also, even though I'm a licensed cosmetologist, I think that direct pigments (semi-permanent color's) are much safer and easier for the general public to use because they DON'T involve chemicals. That being said, you should ALWAYS do your research about how long certain colors can stay in your hair (blue, green, red), and you should ALWAYS do a strand test!

Must stay the course! Grateful for videos like this that keep you from getting off track!

My hair is tailbone length. It took me 4 years to fully grow it out. I remember when she did this to her hair! I’m not going down the same road. No way!!!!!!

You didn't probably know her hair prior to this. This clip only shows it pulled up (still cute) but I actually follow her, and her silver hair was AMAZING. For you to say it "looks way better than before" isn't true. That statement insinuates that her prior hair didn't look good. Believe me, it did.

@@sunlovinglady8562 that's just my personal preference that I'm not a fan of silver hair. I prefer it rose gold, I think it suits her a lot better :) And I don't say it didn't look good before dying, it's just not my cup of tea.

I do not have grey hair, but I will tell you that Overtone pigments left some patchy bands of my hair permanently pink even after bleaching. Luckily I was going copper with a professional and it blended in well, but will not be using Overtone again.

I'm so curious to know whether you've been growing your grey hair again! Going through that journey again must not be easy (I've been 13 months without dyeing my hair now and I get so anxious!). But I fully understand it's a personal decision and you look great in any hair color really!!

Yes I agree gray hair is beautiful! It took me almost 3 years to fully grow mine out with below the shoulder length hair, but soooo worth it! A great money saver too because when I used to get it colored, I had to get my roots touched up every 2-3 weeks. Gray hair can look very becoming if taken care of properly with the right products. It doesn't have to look all wirey and witchy.

I went silver with the help of Erica (the woman in the video above) along with a few others. It's gorgeous! I was terrified to do it, and now that I have, I get more compliments than I ever did when it was dyed! The weirdest thing is that I get them from younger guys... like even in their 30s! I heard this would happen when I started the process but I didn't believe it. I was shocked when it actually did, and so often too. I'd never go back!

I had an amazing colorist, but I had to give up on him when he wasn't supportive of me growing out my gray.

@@calliew311 I’m pretty sure that’s her natural hair color. It’s really hard to achieve that color with metallic dyes. Her hair would’ve reacted differently with the toner. You’ll see when you get to be my age :-)

@@lf9341 I have the same where it’s white infront and then salt and pepper after. I just embrace it. The fun part about the front being like that is that I can add purple or another color in just that part and not have to touch my salt and pepper. That way if you mess up, you aren’t destroying all that beauty.
