The story is a parody and satire of romcoms. Volume 1 of the LN wich covers what was shown in the anime, is a little like that. After Volume 2 the story goes more serious without stopping the parody stuff. Idk if the studio will stop with so much fanservice, but i guess when they enter volume 2 it will chill.
Okay. First of all, you seemed particularly disturbed by the (w)incest angle. This has got a definite answer. ... spoiler space ... Yuki loves her brother dearly, but not in the sexual/romantic way. You don't need to worry at all here. It never passes banter/innuendo. Once you get more of her backstory, I expect you to grow to like her. For me, she is the MVP of the show. As for the fanservice: They are gleefully displaying those parts which are in the original material, so I am a bit less confident in my prediction. It won't get more than this, I expect less once we touch down on the more serious parts.
Sex and stuff is less taboo / sacred in Japan so they are more open to joke about it especially in otaku culture. In anime when a brother and/or Sister are very openly joking about incest it simply means they are close and confortable joking about it because they trust there are no wrong feeling between them. Obviously there are some anime that have incestuous relationship as a plot point but in those it usually start as something repressed or hidden, or seemingly innocent. Anyways in this series I heavily doubt there will be any real competition from Yuki she's just messing around and teasing Alya

It's true that they are close in a way you would expect some (though definitely not most) siblings to be (which obviously doesn't include incest), and sure enough, chances are low to none that there will ever be any romance between them. BUT From what I've seen, Yuki actually has romantic feelings for Masachika, and just hides them in plain sight as her being comically "bro-con" (BTW, Brother/Sister complexes are not real things, unlike Father/Mother complexes). The opening should give one a better estimation of how much she cherishes his company (in a way that is almost sure to also be about wanting to be his partner in naughty stuff). Yuki's commentary about not being just Masachika's sister, but also his "otaku buddy" and "childhood friend" may be played as a joke, but she does have a point. As I see it, you have your parents/guardians and grandparents/guardians of your parents to look up to, but that's it; Everyone else from your family (collaterals, the closest of which are full-blood siblings) are just related to you because they HAPPEN to be related to your ancestors, not because they ARE your ancestors and you their descendants. With that in mind, explaining how moments like the one in which Yuki is disgusted by imagining a romanticized image of her brother (not sure about the context, but I would guess it had something to do with Alya) isn't as straightforward as saying that it implies that the idea of getting together with Masachika irks Yuki. It just means that they are close enough such that she knows him to be a person of flesh and bone - including his otaku side - which would go totally against the image of a "perfect and pretty angelic gentleman"... No different from what an old married couple would think of each other. And if things go well between Masachika and Alya, they will act similarly with each other one day. Fantasy-driven, all-consuming passion can only take a couple's relationship so far; For the rest, you have to build it over the foundation of pure love (without kind "x" and kind "y" labels) and companionship. Lots of hot sex too, while you are young. Most people hold onto the idea that a marriage is completely different from having an intimate friendship, like the one you can have with your siblings and cousins, and this is indeed an useful mindset when it comes to avoiding choosing incest as a "comfort pick" and end up facing the heavy "consequences" of the choice (which seems to be what Masachika did, consciously or not). But the sooner you come with terms with the truth that a marriage partner is supposed to be similar in role in social your life to your close collaterals, the less likely it is for the marriage to fall apart because "love died out".

It’s a moot point because no romantic relationship develops between the two of them. Writing a deep dive analysis on something that isn’t that deep doesn’t prove your point lol.
I hadn't realized at first but it was foreshadowed what Yuki was like behind the scenes from episode 1. When he stayed up late talking with his "otaku buddy" about anime and was sleepy, when he was texting his sister about a possible leg-fetish and she encouraged him on. Also, them both enjoying the spicy food in the cafeteria to now going to a spicy ramen shop. So, in episode 2 when she said that a childhood friend, otaku buddy and sibling can all be true at the same time. It was her from the start! Anyway, I just wanted to say that I enjoyed how they sprinkled all these subtle hints beforehand about her true nature besides the fact they look very similar haha.
Lemme explain Yuki in the fewest words possible. Actual devil incarnate. Somewhat of a brocon but actually most of the time she's just teasing people. Likes her brother a lot. Is a complete degenerate. Teasing is her middle name.
When I watched that and the "blood related" part omg I had to check the comments on the streaming site to see if what I read was confirmed. She's classic and I love her.

There is nothing weird going on in this anime/manga. Yuki loves him normally, like a normal sister. She is just pretending to be this proper/rich/composed girl in public, while in reality she is a crazy otaku girl, she loves all the ecchi, incest stuff in light novels/manga/anime and jokes about it. She also knows Masachika and Alya have a thing for each other and is teasing them, and as an otaku girl she just takes it to the next level. If you have no idea what otakus, especially those hardcore otakus are then you won't get it why she is like this.
Oh yeah, she does come to like Alya (and even support her relationship with Masachika) and never tried to force a romantic relationship with Masachika. But that doesn't mean she wouldn't like to be his woman. Quite the contrary: Not only has she tried to seduce him multiple times (this wake-up trope scene is tame in comparison), but she has also stated that she wouldn't mind to be his mistress should he get "bored" of Alya. Well, I'm somewhat of a serious otaku myself, but if Yuki is doing and saying the things she does and says, then she either means it for real or is so hardcore that the difference between fiction and reality is non-existent to her.
Don't mind Yuki, she's a funny character. If you think this will go into the incest route, then don't be scared because it won't. Yuki is more like a "wing-man" at times but she mostly prefers trolling Alya.

I dont personally mind this level of fan service, but obviously she does. The big issue people tend to take is when those who are against fan service try to eradicate it entirely. If it's not your thing, cool everyone likes and dislikes what they do. You don't try to police an entire medium of entertainment just because one trope makes you uncomfortable. I am in no way insinuating that she is doing this, I'm just explaining where the defensiveness is coming from.

It’s in the ecchi genre. Did you not check what kind of show it was before you chose to watch it? So far this is pretty tame. Ecchi shows tend to be very lewd. Uncensored nipples kinda lewd.
I guess you never heard of wincest? Incest trope in anime is so common in anime. How you never encounter that. Like from webnovels to Visual novels. Then to anime. It may be weird but it exist. The one that manage to spread it to the west is oreimo which is an anime that is about her Little sister. Another example is yugo no sora. Which is a visual novel. That adapted into an anime. it has many routes. one of the Route are incest. About the two siblings in the anime. They also adapted the incest ending also.
I know enough japanese to know that the subtitles were being a little bit over reaching with describing alya with words like hot, sexy and skank, like in japanese it was much more tactful idk why they went that way.
@@BuddyChy You can pretty much change them for the literal translation and not much is lost, in the "you're more hot than cute" sentence, the word he used was bijin (beauty) so "you're more of a beauty than cute" implying a difference in her charm in the "sexy suits you" he says ottonappoi (adult-like) wich could just be mature and where she calls herself a skank, she said hashitanai onna, and that can be translated to just immodest woman or vulgar woman. again the translations is not wrong but there were definetly better words of phrases to convey the same meanings without feeling so crude, i assume most people found it weird too how he just called her hot and sexy to her face out of nowhere (like it's an anime mc normally these guys are not that aggresive on their approach)

Yuki has her own room at his apartment so no issues there. She also loves to pick on Alya because she can tell Alya likes him. As far as the fan service, I am not sure how that will be going forward.
Some translate just not correct, like how he react that she looks more mature but they made it "sexy" or "Hot" This anime has Ecchi in it, so its much better you find another anime that make you comfortable. maybe because i have seen way too many animes where either sister has a brother complex or other way around it doesnt feel wierd, if anything it doesnt even seem like she has brother complex looks more like she just enjoys teasing him and once she realised that alya has feelings for her brother she decided to tease and mess around with her too. even if she has brother complex she is still pretty tame when it comes to showing it even when its just 2 of them(not referencing 18+ anime versions) just purely talking about basic animes
The problem is that the anime “Feroh Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Arabic” wouldn’t work as well because so many people understand some dialect of Arabic already (it might work in Japan, though).

Yuki is out there messing with her brother and Alya. I really love the relationship between Yuki and Masachika: they just play off each other well. Yuki gets to be her otaku self with her brother. Masachika plays the more responsible and serious of both. I'm sure we will get more info about their past in future episodes. For now, I'm loving this.

Not a LN or manga reader but id doubt it. Its a built in character trait so the incest jokes shall remain. Could be wrong though and im sure their going to be more fan service. But yea always remember dont watch something if you cant enjoy it some people have different taste or can handle different things.
I mean in the end, its pretty 1-sided on Yuki's part if there is even an actual interest there (she seems more to like the idea of incest rather then being in love with her brother), as the brother is pretty clear that he has no interest in her.

They are mixing up the pacing and taking out or changing some pretty good scenes that were in the manga so I hope they bring some of those up later. The incest stuff was definitely the weird but I don’t wanna say more other than it’s not the highlight. there’s a whole other story that hasn’t been introduced yet so we’ll have to wait and see.

@@mi66m9 to be fair, fan service is very much hit or miss on whether it works or not, if a character is given a lot of fan service and a particular viewer doesn't like that character for whatever reason, they will usually dislike the fan service. But if they do like the character it works. Kinda like how in Konosuba, people complain a lot about Megumin fan service scenes, cuz many people don't find her attractive due to being the most child resembling in design, but are fine with Darkness or Aqua fan service.

In my opinion, Yuki has like "2 personalities", at school she is correct, polite, etc. While in private she is an otaku. I think she bothers her brother (I'm surprised it's her sister) with things she reads in anime, it was seen what types of anime she likes where the protagonist kisses her brother haha (she's crazy but it's funny hahaha). I hope you continue watching it, I like your reaction.
The reason you people wouldn’t jump to Yuki and Masachika are siblings straight away is because black hair and black eyes are phenotypically Japanese. So a resemblance between them based on those standards can just be attributed to the fact they are both Japanese.

I'm very weird when it comes to spicy food? I don't really care for Salsa of Hot Sauce. But i do lihe to cook & eat spicy food. My father dries and grinds hobenero's & othe chili's into powders i love the hobenero powder on pizza, in my ramen, and macaroni & cheese; i also us it for spicyfriedchicken. And for Christmas we make a small batch of Ghostpepper chili verde Tamales.

Hey Faroh. Speaking as someone who has read the manga: the anime dialed up the sexual stuff by like 300% for whatever reason. They also are doing a lot of stuff out of order or possibly skipping important content entirely. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed, because the source material is very nice and I think this would have normally been something up your alley. Unfortunately, they've gone for a very strange approach with this adaption. I would say if you plan to drop it, I don't blame you since they're being extremely liberal with the source. Just my two cents.
@GensouChronicle what are you on about, literally the only correct thing you said is that it's a tad bit out of order, everything happened in this episode is an abridged version of what happened in novels, which is how you make an anime adaptation. They didn't forget the only important plot point of these chapters either, and they will probably put more of the content from skipped text throughout the show, but even if they didn't- that's okay. The only dialed up sexual stuff they put in is showing Alya change, I would argue that they dialed down some scenes and Masachika's comments on his various new fetishes, like the one he got during ramen scene. Everything else is the same old LN with cut content. The best part of all is a better translation from Russian than it was in official English release of the novels, it's crazy how many phrases were translated incorrectly. edit: now I think it sounds a lot more aggressive than I initially thought, so I am sorry about that, and I would point out that you can feel however you like about the adaptation, that's perfectly fine as long as it's an opinion and not a misinformation about how stuff is and isn't in the actual source material when you don't know (or don't remember, or maybe you do know but just didn't really care while reading) about it.
