This is Courtney's first original professional release. Every performer draws from the past and does cover songs towards developing their own music, if they progress that far. Her only other fully produced original was Pretty Little Thing on TV's AGT. She co-wrote Breakable with veteran songwriter, Kevin Bowe. I appreciate your remark about every singer having some comparison to others, but Courtney is harder than most to compare because her voice and style is very different from popular contemporary singers. If anything, she fits in the lane of groundbreaking, passionate performers from the golden era of music in the late1950's to 80's, without sounding exactly like any particular one of them. Courtney will be releasing more originals soon, and each one will have it's own vibe showing her creativity and versatility.

It's difficult to compare Courtney with just one artist since she's taken from many of the greats she admires, added her generational sound and created an incredible cocktail of a voice . . . The raspiness of Janis Joplin, the range and power of Aretha, the bluesiness of Etta James, , soul of Tina Turner etc.
Comparing? If you want, mixture of Skin (Skunk Anansie), Marianne Faithful, Siouxie with a little spice of Janis. But she seems to be quite original. She is so unique in her love of old time soulful, r&b, rock and blues icons. She seems to have the talent to bring all of those genres into her new songwriting skills. Hi Fabian. 'Breakable' is an amazing debut original single by Courtney. This is both her first original released as well as her first release as an independent artist and she just hit a home run. Her vocals just soar in this incredible song, the lyrics are an emotional gut punch and the fabulous video just reinforces all of the emotion contained in this song visually. After years of fighting to release the music that she loved and having labels try and twist her into something she didn't want to be, Courtney finally decided to go it on her own. In a true testament to her, she achieved in two months, what the labels couldn't do in years. Besides being the voice of a lifetime, she is focused, driven, has an incredible work ethic and is an all around kind and cool person. One thing about Courtney is when she wants to get something done nothing is going to stop her. A true role model in so many ways for all of us, who just also happens to have generational level talent. Everybody needs to get out and stream/watch this fabulous song. It is a masterpiece. Everyone has been burnt by someone or something in their lifetime, so this song will be relatable to so many people on a personal level. No one can touch your soul when she sings like Courtney and it feels like she is having a one on one conversation with your heart in this song. You haven't reacted to Courtney for a while, but buckle your seat belt. Now that she's in control of her own music, it was said to expect a release approximately every month. She has already mentioned that her next release will be more uptempo and future songs should be in a wide variety of vocal styles. You mentioned that Courtney is a cover artist. Nothing could be further from the truth. She has a huge library of originals that she has written over the last few years, but between the lock downs and travel bans from Covid and issues with her label, she hasn't been able to release them. She has shared many of those originals, in whole or in part, with her fans, mostly over live chats on social media and everything she has shared has been sensational. She has said she plans on being back on stage this year, but she has to have a sufficient amount of original music released to do so. Courtney’s far too talented to be a cover singer.
Courtney has been restricted by labels until now about posting original songs but over the last few years she has been adding snippets of songs she whote herself to live streams.
She never had originality? She’s just a “cover” artist? IMO everything she has ever “covered” has been as good if not better than the original because she made it her own. Courtney is an original herself, she sings everyone's voice but even better than those legends, even her cover songs sound better than the originals, and her first original song will be No. 1 hit, I have no doubt, she is the modern day legend in the making.
When you said it, you knew it was coming. Comparing Courtney to others is just not something that's easily done. Most of her covers that she recorded in the studio, whether it was her own studio or her old label's support studios, she completely changed the original into another genre. We recognize the lyrics and the melody, but the song is now totally different. As all musicians do, we take bits and pieces from those we idolize and learned from and after a while we incorporate a little of each into our own styles. Some musicians learn more from one artists than the culmination of many. The difference with Courtney is nobody else sounds like her that we've heard from the past. Most of us know because theirs a lot of us old farts who seen most of the legends from the past and we know Courtney is so unique. Hate to say it, but many of today's singers, even top singers sound similar. They may have great voices and are amazing singer, but very few of them stand out. Courtney does stand out not only with her vocals, but how she performs a song and when she's on stage, look out. Now you may be able to say some of Courtney's stage presence resembles some other classic rock artists, but even there she's extremely unique with how she performs in front of an audience. You caught most of the little things I think she puts into this video to represent her pain and where the lyric are going. I don't know if Courtney had the idea, I wouldn't doubt it, but the theme for the background shots are representative of old school times. Meaning she has some classic cars, the Harley and the Route 66 sign in the video, along with hitch hiking which was an everyday thing back when we grew in the 60's and early 70's. The site is pretty cool and shows all the packages they have available for making these for artists. They have a multitude of locations throughout Europe they use for their production videos. Also Courtney co-wrote this song with Kevin Bowe who also produced it. Kevin is a very accomplished producer, writer, guitarist and performer. In all honesty, I literally cannot compare anyone else to Courtney Hadwin. She is a once in a generation, if not life time vocal artist. BUT I can compare Courtney to other artists. There is a difference. It all depends on what song she sings, the genre and the style of song she sings it in. She can that a Rock song, sing it in the style of Etta James, but with a Pop style, and it would sound amazing. She is a vocal chameleon, no one can compare to her, but she can adapt her voice to the styles of so many others, the list would be in the hundreds.
if you want comparison Derek McCraken obviously did point out those comparisons. She did tell Howie Mandell on his Podcast show that she wanted to create music like "Amy Winehouse", but I don't really see that much in this video or song. I do think really she's trying be her own individual artist. Yes, she's 18, and the drinking age there is 18, however I don't believe that's what that scene is about, nor the hitch-hiking scenes representing back in the days from 60-80's w/Route 66. What this song is about is her transition from childhood to adult and the "how the change is different" and how you no longer feel invincible as you do when you're a child. I also believe it's about her heartbreak in the music industry feeling betrayed, and heartbroken. I use to be somewhat in the industry and this is what that video points out and her lyrics which is so well written with Kevin Bowe and I think he let her have her freedom in how she wanted to write the song. Because her original "Good Ol Days" has that same feeling in how she's transitioning from childhood to adult and as a human being we are breakable no matter what we do in life, a bartender or a music artist. We can be breakable by people we put our faith into. The hitch-hiking isn't really about hitch-hiking, but about moving forward even if you're not given the comforts in life, having to sit in the back of the truck. She, keeps moving forward, not backward and she has the strength to tell people she's feeling weak, because she's stronger. Many people don't understand the scene in the pond, but I do which is key to the whole video.

She had more originality than most, but she needed to show herself on this and the rest of her original work. I think "Pretty Little Thing" on AGT champions was the best example of her work and what she can do. This and the next are both about her bad relationship with the record company and how she felt held back from doing what she wanted to do. This and That Girl was shot in Spain-very beautiful.

She is 18 on this. She was 19 when she released Monsters and Christmas Rocks. She might have been fired because she was underage and lied to get the job??

Courtney Hadwin is the true Queen of all music of the 21st century. This song is beyond real and it fills the souls of everyone who hear it. What make a song a great is that every person who hear it is able to relate it to something in their lives. This song fills that because every person has a feeling of breakable at some point in their lives. But when you go back and actually listen to every song she has done weather it is a rendition of song previously done by another artist or her own music, she changes that song into not just music but also feelings, memories and soul, which not a single other artist out there can do. This is why the music industry has tried to hold her done because they are afraid of the Queen who became the queen to us at 13.
