He had a hammer on his person, so he had the thing planned. He didn't just "lose it" and a hammer conveniently appeared for him to commit this crime.

He was in pain from the breakup, so he lashed out at her like a child might, but with the ability of an adult. Some people are in adult bodies but haven't really developed emotionally.

This is horrendous! I feel so bad for her. She tried so hard but he had to have the last bit of control. He’s a scumbag and a POS! Thank you Rachel for being so respectful and honorable towards her.❤

We raise our daughters to be kind and be good to friends and family so people like Paul can take advantage of them and hurt them when they don’t get what they want. Clearly he saw the value Lily brought into this world and realized maybe he didn’t deserve that. 5 weeks, and I hate that the news reporter called her his girlfriend. I doubt Lily saw herself as that to this horrible human who she read like a book.

I cannot comprehend how someone can justify killing another person simply because they don't want to be in a relationship, especially if it only lasted a few weeks. There must be more to it. I believe he wasn't right in his mind....:( very sad, beautiful soul lost her life :(

This girl died because she dated a psychopath for 5 weeks. That's crazy!

I know it’s an issue everywhere around the world. But here in Australia, we’d have to be up there in front when it comes to men killing their female partners. Recently we had a case, where a man set his own babies alight with their mother. It’s just sickening. We need to do much, much better. RIP LILIE. Lilie wasn't in a relationship with this guy, he was a guy she met she dated........and soon found out she didn't want to be with him and told him so. This is what happens in life, you date you dump or get dumped and move on sometimes hurting but after 5 weeks it would hardly be a heartbreaking split.......and let's face it just how many dates would they have had in 5 weeks when Lilie was working/studying/working...............and apparently he was too. The fact that he text her father to 'come and pick me up' means he wanted her father to find her in this gruesome state..............another question though, why didn't her father go to pick her up? This would have been even more devastating for the girl's father. I think if we could fathom out how people can think like this it would mean that we could think like them too..........I don't Eever want that!!!! It's sad for the poor girl and all her family, there's nothing you can say to make it any easier for them, we can only pray for God to comfort them in their grief and absolute heartbreak.

I'm not suprised. We have seen other cases where someone goes to such drastic measures to keep a relationship. Look at Chris Watts for example. He murdered his wife, two little girls and unborn son to be with a woman he was only seeing for about five weeks, also.

This case is TERRIFYING. Another creator (I can't remember who or the case they were discussing sry) made the point on a case I watched recently on how whether there's a documented history of abuse or not, we all need to really consider if conversations with recent exes *in person* should remain within social norms. Ik as empathetic ppl, we want to hear ppl out in the most respectful and sensitive way possible, but this case really raises question on how we should handle potential burned bridges in modern western society, where most of us have access to video calling, regular calling, etc. It's saddening, knowing that ppl have been feeling more isolated with increased technology in social interaction, but what else is there to do when people (women in particular) have to confront fears over 5-WEEK flings becoming deadly?

My husband and I have raised and are raising 4 sons to be gentlemen. To respect “NO” as a complete sentence. To gain consent. And to let go when it’s over. This case is so sad. I can’t help but wonder if lockdowns for so long contributed to his sudden decline in mental health. Nothing else seems to indicate prolonged warning signs in Paul. And that’s genuinely terrifying. I hope her family can find peace. I can’t imagine losing a child so senselessly. And yes, I even have a feelings of sadness for his parents, who by all accounts I’ve heard, had no idea their son was a danger. Finding out he’s a murderer AND he’s now dead would be like the biggest heartache. That doesn’t take anything away from the sorrow I feel for Lilie’s grieving parents and loved ones. 💔

I’m watching this, this morning after my daughter just showed up to my home with her her 2 yr old daughter bawling her eyes out because her child’s father( just a few days of being engaged) has pushed her and thrown her across the room in front of the baby. Then took her phone so she could not call police. Then threw her outside. She said there was a neighbor outside that heard everything and did not call police after hearing it all. My daughter is okay physically but not mentally. I’m between such a rock and a hard place. I want to go over there and put my hands on him. I’m upset, stressed, pissed and just tired of it. I’ve tried and tried to tell my daughter to leave and stay away that she deserves better. Pray 🙏🏼 she does not go back again!!! Please and thank you!!!

One of my favourite videos that you do are the domestic violence cases because I used to be in an abusive relationship, however I got out and I survived, so hearing about these videos really makes me feel how lucky I am and makes me want to help other people who are in these situations. I am also from Sydney Australia so I remember hearing about this case on the news. I also filled out the google form and requested this case to be covered so it really is amazing how quickly you were able to cover the case. Thank you again for an well done video on this important topic. I am in the helping profession and it is well known in DV cases that the person is at the most risk if they try to leave. Also, there is a pattern of killing themselves afterwords, as you said they are fleeing from what they did. Yes, even a relationship that is new can lead to this occurring. When a controlling person loses control, they can snap. Like you said he also was in an unstable mindset after COVID. He was isolating and depressed. Could he have also been on drugs? Whatever it was he is still responsible for this horrific crime. & Yes, as soon as you see red flags don't wait another minute, but realize you are also at the highest danger when you leave. How many stolen glances? Take out their situation and you've got 2 good looking athletic people close in age possibly seeing each other on the daily.. IMAGINE THE BUILD UP.. knowing ANY relationship between them at this time would end badly.. Like prison. So he plans to return to see her again, but this time I'M NO STUDENT. The humiliation of being dumped by the teach he and probably all his teammates obsessed over for a long while....Yah, this is good enough for HIM to kill. Someone call Geraldo!!! Probably did himself in because he felt he had to follow Lillie into the afterlife and control her there.

Maybe he wanted her found because he wanted his loved ones to understand why he killed himself. When someone ends their lives loved ones can feel guilty that they didn't realise they were hurting and maybe he was thinking about his family and them not going through all of that! This made it pretty obvious that he killed himself to get out of facing the consequences of his actions so they won't be in doubt like they would have been, it also ment them probably finding out about his suicide sooner because police were looking for him straight away.

What a disturbing case! So young with her entire future to live. I can only imagine maybe the guy had a fit of rage, reported, then couldn't live with himself after he truly grasped reality. I pray for peace to their parents. Such a senseless tragedy. :(

Such a senseless waste of two lives - one totally innocent. I will never understand how some minds work - in the 70s in Brisbane Australia a young lass (who had a boyfriend) was shot dead in a laneway on her way to work by a male acquaintance, because she didn't want to go on a date with him.
