True story….lost my job and went back to school. I didn’t apply for food stamps, I just wanted WIC to help with my 3 little kids while in school at the time. Was a NIGHTMARE at the time to get but I did. Once I was done with school and got a job, I stopped the benefits. They told me I could stay on the program since I was already on it. I said “no” as I had a job now and didn’t need it anymore, I was excited to take myself off the program and I walked out of there dumbstruck at how easy it would be to take advantage, but my pride was that I wanted to provide for my family, not depend on the government hand to provide for my family. The point is the programs are there to help people, not be a way of living.

I was a single mother it was hard. My ex was abusive, I left with my sons. I wish they would have had a two parent household. I'm a Christian that believes that there are two genders and God created man than woman. There are some circumstances that some families need extra help.I'm blessed that my brother and male cousins helped by being a good role models to my son's. My mom was widowed at the age of 31, my dad fell from scaffolding and died from internal bleeding. There was no life insurance. So my mom was a 28 yr old single mother with 4 children, including a set of twins (me &my brother) She was a dedicated, stay at home mom,but now she would have to work, and had no work experience. So she worked at fast food places. And cleaned houses on the side. My grandparents helped a little , but it was hard. I remember when I was 13, I was embarrassed my mother worked at burger king. Eventually she was offered a job managing a lunch counter in a drugstore, and she worked there best nearly 30 to years. Mom knew where every thrift store, discount bakery and Goodwill stores were. She went to yard sales and she was expert level at lay away - she probably would have qualified for assistance, but it wasn't an option. She's 82 now. All is kids now make sure she is taken care of.

We need to do what some other countries do, and incentivize married families to have more children, mainly by cutting taxes for each child a married couple has. Four or more children, and the family doesn't pay taxes

I have said for years that there are so many empty State, Fed, buildings and stores that could be used as daycare so mothers can work. Woman could go to trade schools ,college. or work. EVERY WOMAN who receives a check takes a shift at the daycare you're NOW doing your part and making a way to get on your own feet. Many people truly need help and others play the system.

To be completely honest I never wanted kids then my ex wife told me she was pregnant. My world got flipped upside down the moment I got to hold my daughter for the first time, then I was blessed with a son. My kids are a reflection of who I was, and a mirror into the future.

Having children is a life long blessing. I am unfortunately a widow but father raised the boys till they were 20m’s. I see their dad in them everyday. Can’t imagine if my boys only reflected me, their mother. BuT they are my jewels! ❤❤

I was married when l had my children. I was forced into becoming a single mom. Had to go onto welfare, but I went to beauty school to learn a trade to take care of then. Even after I got my license, I still had to use welfare, but it only helped make up what needed. It wasn't something I rely on completely. Their father refused to pay child support. When I got to a point where I didn't need the support, I called my caseworker to tell her. She continued to ask me if I was sure I wanted to do that. As if trying to get me to stay on it.

My x got on welfare while I was giving her child support. She was on it for 2 years before the state came after me for reimbursement. The money she collected from the state for my children went to her child from another man. Needless to say, by he time the state came after me, the amount plus the compound interest was beyond my ability to afford. After trying for over 31 years to pay off the $39k, I still owed 26k on the principle and over 80k in compound interest! I gave up. Let that sink in... 🤔

I grew up in a two parent home in the late 50s there was a lot less violence back then. Now look after Biden's time in politics you have the father out of the picture now you have violence with staggering numbers. With a real father and mother most kids grow to be good respectful adults.

I remember being turned away buying baby formula with rolled pennies, that pissed off customers behind me, and they bought the formula 5 times more than I had in my hand. Former caseworker here- i was shocked at how often actual caseworkers would encourage families to split/have dad leave home, so mom could collect a few hundred bucks a month- with no thought to the cost of the dad finding a home, and the inevitable divorce that follows. I did the welfare thing... Then I worked and didn't receive welfare or child support... it was rough... Did I say I have Multiple Sclerosis and fought with the disability while working. Now I have issues daily with Multiple Sclerosis and it sucks. At 61yo I don't do much...I'm sick today and in bed...🎉❤women should only have welfare for up to two years and then child care and medicaid help while they work.

This lady made the case for trump without even knowing it. If youre going to recieve government help after a two year period then you should be required to have a job. Government can provide some daycare assistance but these people need to have a job. I went to school with a kid that his family for generations has lived off welfare and never worked a job. They took him out of school at a young age and ruined his life. Its truly sad.
