Yusef and the other prisoners were kind to a man with a disability while the actual educated citizens bullied him and treated him like a monster. I'm surprised why this movie wasn't nominated for an Oscar ?
"I was really fooled by the 8,2-rating on imdb, and often as in case with Indian and Turkish movies rating is insanely high. It seems the rate 10/10 in 9 out of 10 movies they see. This film, which even is a remake of a South Korean movie named the same, is quite awful. Not when it comes to photography, which is really top notch, and the little girl and the grandmother plays OK, the little girl is very cute. But the rest is full of overacting, so badly that it makes the film a real stinker. The film is made for making viewer cry, but it's all to ridiculous. The little girl even breaks into prison to see her arrested father. Nothing to see here. I'm sure the Korean movie is 10 times better, and this is a waste of time.
@@bieneulm1982 I haven't watched the full movie! The recap looks amazing tho! I'm not a big fan of emotional movies since I don't like to feed bad after movies.

Saw this on 2012 wayback college days. My classmates who watch this film with me blames the bag because that was the cause of their misfortune. The turkish version was actually good because they changed the plot storyline but sticked on the original scenes.
i’ve watched this movie so much times but it still annoys me that the cop shot the witness and stopped that innocent dad from actually ever getting justice and the fact that other cellmate had to give up his own life for that girl to stay with her dad made me sobb🥲
thats the shitty part the movie tries to setup a happy ending but fails to do so whilst the father lives the army officer does not either see the wrong in his actions or pay any price for his wrong doing better endings would have been momo is set free as the officer sees he was innocent all along after his execution wracked with guilt the officer takes his own life meanwhile momo lives the officer is arrested for murdering the witness and trying to do a coverup and sentanced to death and momo is set free they refuse to execute momo and instead help him escape (no one has to die)
I can’t think of a fictional character I despise more than Aiden. That man could not come to terms with the fact his child died accidentally so he decided to take a father from another child. What an absolutely vile pos

As a mom of autistic child it breaks my heart every time I see people treat autistic people rudely, autistic people are most pure and innocent souls in this planet, they should be treated with love and whole heart. They deserve to live a normal life as any other so called typical humans.
I'm here with you! Got autistic twins. I try to teach them how differently the world might treat them, and this is as much as I can do, leaving all the rest to God.
As a person on the spectrum (high funct Autism) and BEING a parent, this movie made me cry. I love my kids, I'd die for my kids, and I'd do anything to get back to them.
Mee too, there Are different faces to the spectrum and its not neccesarily as a retardedness AS in rainman/this movie... I mean, the activity Ive done together with my son is very much more than any ordinary parent would manage.... And never dangerous. Thats the child Ive seen the most.

This is a really really good movie.. I hate how autistic or people with other mental limitations/ illnesses are often convicted for crimes they didn't commit. I've seen this happen in the 19th and 20th century in some true crime cases and it is so so frustrating when an innocent person is convicted of something they didn't do.. I cried a little just watching the recap.. would love to watch the whole movie
I got so mad when Ayden still wanted Memo to die, despite him knowing the real truth. Makes you see how much power a person has can make them corrupt, especially when a human life in on the line and they still can’t let go of the hate and greif
it was a cold blooded murder to protect the unfaltering image of the law, if law admits they unfairly punished an innocent man, torturing him into a fake confession, then the law would be scrutinised not just for that case alone, but for every crime after it, from small thefts, to murder, every person arrested would be looked at by the public as an innocent person being unfairly punished so killing the real killer without the public knowing was simply to protect the illusion that justice doesnt fail
@@susanb4816 I'm actually not kidding. I could have added that the narrator had a nice voice. But out of curiosity what part did you disagree with or what part you think I was kidding or being sarcastic on?
To say I bawled my eyes out while watching this movie is an understatement. It also touched a lot of problems Turkey has For example Yusuf killed his daughter because everyone was talking about her and that she had an affair with some boy. So to "safe his family honor", he killed her, even though she actually told her father that she didn't do something like that. As far as I remember I think some boy who was rejected by her started the gossip. Or the general problem with the military in smaller regions and their power.
@D C The man who was executed chose to be. That's why it's not as horrific. It's obviously still awful, but he was in jail for murdering and burying the body of his own daughter. What he did was sacrifice his own life to give Memo and Ova their happy ending. So yes. It's much less horrific than it could have been.
This is a crappy remake, the original is a 2013 Korean movie with the same title. The movie is based on the real-life story of a mentally disabled man who was tortured and pleaded guilty under duress to the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl on September 27, 1972 in Chuncheon before being finally exonerated in November 2008. So yeah these things really DO happen
It's such a heartbreaking story. We don't have a death penalty in Mexico but the corruption is so deep that many innocent people are in jail. No fair trial,
Same thing with many innocent people being tortured. It's kinda crazy that this torturing and kidnapping problem is only being sort of addressed due to corruption. Fortunately the mafia here only preys on drug dealers and robbers but it's still scary.
Considering how they treat child murder and pedophiles in prison she would probably have better protection there than walking the street with strangers.
I remember watching this at the cinema. Even my stone cold father cried while watching. If you liked this movie, I would suggest "Ayla and "Bold Pilot" as they are also other turkish movies that will make you cry.
The first Turkish film I saw that really impressed me with a completely unexpected quality was called 'Mustang.' The acting was excellent.. and the story was really well made.
Korean version of this movie is much more heartbreaking because the father didn't have the chance to live because he was executed by the government 🥺 and the scene where they saw each other for the last time and begging the general to spare him is so heart breaking 🥺
This movie breaks my hurt so much. From the Korean version up to this one,it really hurts because the father and daughter were still separated in the end.🙁
@@amit4Bihar Yes 😭 i was sure this would end just as sad but then the part of the sacrifice of the old man happened and i was just thankful this was a happy ending for father and daughter! I was so furious at the military douche! Such incompetence
The fact the general killed the witness is absolutely disgusting. Not only did you have the truth, but it avoided you killing an innocent. Instead he took 2 more loves out of grief and anger for his daughter.
me and my father watched this movie in 2020. I SWEAR I have never ever seen him shed a tear, but this movie while watching from the corner of my eye I could see him cry. brings memories
It was sad but very brave of Yusuf to sacrifice himself so that Memo and Ova can stay together. He may have killed his own daughter but he has a big heart.
@@FatboiReborn yes but even after hearing the truth from a witness he still wanted to hurt the mentally disabled person or he had slapped prior to that.
I think he just didn't want to lose face in front of others after beating, falsely blaming and giving a death penalty to an innocent, to put it politely, he's a coward.
as someone who is autistic its always so hard to see anyone else who is treated badly but im so glad those inmates accepted him in the end and what they did to save him.
There was a comment in one video saying that Yusuf may have been Ova’s grandfather. And the daughter he killed and buried under a tree was her mother. Idk if that’s true but I guess it does connect them in a way, that’s why she was able to tell the dent in the wall was a tree
I wondered where her mom was also..if so, Maybe Yusef was mad she had a baby with a guy on the spectrum? Or wasn't married or whatever else it could be.
I guess Im going to have to watch the whole movie now, because I need to know how in the hell nobody noticed or said anything about killing the wrong dude. And not ONE of the snitching guards went back and told what they did? And how did they hide memo, and then snuck him out the prison too? Yup, ill be watching this tonight.
I've actually never seen this specific version, but I have seen the Korean version. When I tell you I SOBBED. This is forever one of my favourite movies of all time. It was so well done, and so freakin heartbreaking, but so real. The version I watched was more of a comedy through the middle; The other cell mates sneak his daughter in and they get to hang out and everything, then one of them (I believe the daughter) is dragged away by the guards. The only thing is in that version, he doesn't get to live. Something similar had happened but instead of a little girl he was accused of assaulting a woman (he didn't) and she fell and she died, and he was blamed. At the end of the movie, he is brought away and his daughter is screaming for him, but they still take him. The flash forward is her grown-up as a lawyer, and she actually gets to fight for her dads case and wins, even though he is gone already. It's fucking heartbreaking. SUCH a good movie!

That was extremely sweet, I was reading in the comments that this movie was spoken in a language other than English, so thank you for giving us the detailed recap. Even told through a narrative perspective it was beautiful. This gives me a bit of a new perspective on autistic people.
Great film demonstrating the heights and the lows people are capable of. In this recap, I was hoping to see the man who shot that guy in the back of his head to get found out and put in prison for murder with the other guys who then beat him to death for murdering their friend. Haven’t seen this film, but I probably won’t because I really dislike seeing someone like that prison employee get away with murder.
even though I already watch this movie with my sister I'm already in tears and crying and not stopping this movie it's so sad and this is true based on a book, so what I'm trying to say is that this movie has already happened in real life, this story happened in China and then they made it as a movie based on the real story.
@@paulj.lazaro965 I'm not sure all I know is that this is a true story based on a book, But the point is that someone has been through this pain a long time ago and I can't believe it because it happened and it's really sad that someone went through it, It makes me even sadder that this movie has made in Turkish because basically I'm from Turkish and it was really sad I don't even know how to sleep tonight I'm overthinking about this movie now. lol
@@NazNC1993 yeah it's tragic. Saw the original movie its based on, same thing happened to me for a whole week. Makes greek tragedies both jealous and proud.
I'm happy Ova was reunited with her father but I hate that people like Aiden still got away, I understand he lost a daughter, that's one of the worst things that can happen to a parent but when you take your grief and turn it into a means to taking away from others that's a crimson flag, because another thing the guy Asker that he killed he didn't stop to think maybe he had a daughter
Excellent film. You become invested in the child and her father. It takes you through a range of emotions. The unfairness of it all, from the vengeful vile army officer you would love to punch, to the, "village simpleton," who was far from a simpleton, he was a kind hearted soul who looked at life in awe as a child would, but knew his responsibility was to his daughter. I would highly recommend this film that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions.
Except in the case of John Wayne Gacy's with years of confirmed brutal tortured victims under their belt, and no remorse for their actions. Those people are monsters who cannot be changed or helped no matter how long they remain on earth. The real root issue of this story was the corruption of the general and discrimination towards a disabled person. Execution is also a tool and thus *can* be exploited for one's personal benefit - which is why it's a good thing that it's heavily regulated but obvs still has problems of its own. Confirmed serial killers with no remorse will continue to live on the free food and shelter provided in their cells, yet the system will have a suspicious trigger happy finger towards killers with a single kill or some other crime. This sort of turned into a ramble but I just wanted to point it out, no ill-meaning was intended. /gen
@@Sefasym your comment makes no sense as “better” or “worse” than the original is purely subjective Imo this is a crappy remake & “realistically” the original is 1000 times better cause it’s an accurate representation of the actual events. @@Sefasym yet another asinine comment… Again, that’s just your opinion. Do you know what subjective means? Do you speak on behalf of other people too?! 😂 Dude it’s a true story! So one of the inmates took the innocent man's place for the death penalty. He may have killed his daughter, but he somewhat redeemed himself taking the innocent man's place to be hanged.
This movie review is short. Only 13 min. And i cried a lot. I sure cant watch the whole movie without filling a glass with tears . Awesome work man. Thank you so much.
I have a disability and I live in the USA . The first time I watched this movie I cried because in other countries people with disabilities are not treated the same way. They get treated very badly and it broke my heart

Yeah, like WTF? Youd think he would be happy to find out his daughter didn't suffer and get killed by a re re he was the real murderer of the story and got away with it scot free.
@@lightpropulsionguy Well Turkey was under a dictatorship at the time and he had elite status in the village due to being in a high position in the military. He was lieutenant colonel I think. But I also see why the witness tried to stay hidden away in the first place since they tracked him down. He knew they would do something bad to him.
@@MaryDunford Yeah. I admit I was too lazy to edit it. But in the true story the little girl was in fact murdered and violated. That’s one thing of the things that makes the Korean version more sad.
Well initially he escaped his duties as a soldier. As far as I know deserting ones duties as a soldier can be seen as wiping your ass with your country’s flag. So he didn’t care that the guy came and confessed the truth when he was already disgusted at the fact he betrayed his country by deserting his duties. Defending the person he thinks killed his daughter only fueled his rage. He had already made up his mind that he wanted Memo dead. I already knew he would impose his influence on the trial to get the ball rolling.
Wow sounds like a really good movie. That's sad but honorable what the guy did for the innocent man. Also sad that so many people have been wrongly accused for murder but were still executed. There's another movie slightly like this where a man recorded a woman killing herself but went to prison for the murder, he was executed , 10 seconds after he was pronounced dead a reporter finds the tape and uncovers he was innocent and realizes why he didn't want to prove his innocence. Both he and the woman wanted to prove innocent people were being executed. It was a good movie but I don't remember the name of it.
I already know the plot since I've watched the original and remake/version from different countries but everytime about this show up I'd still watch. Miracle in cell number 7 is one of those movies that confused me when I was a kid and rewatching it realized it's a masterpiece Edit: all different versions have different touch from the country's culture that makes every version unique ✨ Turkey's version is the best of the best for me 🥺💖
It’s crazy to me that they beat him without even trying to see if he was innocent but then when they see that he was they wanna take him in and I wonder if they did the same thing to the guy that actually killed his own daughter and buried her they took him in and probably didnt even ask nor cared it’s crazy how people really pick and chose with peoples lives
This is the most emotional 😭 movie ever made, I cried from the beginning of the movie till the end…. To think it’s a true story makes me even more emotional. Great movie and review
Am I the only one who was brought to tears watching this clip ? I never heard of this movie before, but now I have to watch it, thank God for the internet
In the US we have hundreds of innocent people who have been exonerated from death row, dozens who were proven innocent after death, and who knows how many more that never were proven innocent. (It is very difficult to prove innocence after death.) We have over 2k death row prisoners this year. In terms of confirmed executions we are typically 5th or 6th behind countries such as Iraq, Iran, Saudia Arabia, and China.
It was based on an actual event in South Korea on September 27, 1972 in Chuncheon before being finally exonerated in November 2008. There was a 2013 Korean film version that inspired other countries to remake and adapt it to their own culture. Unfortunately, the Korean original is bittersweet in that there is no happy ending. A United State remake is in talks.
My brother is autistic and I grew up with him so I have gone off of influence (as he is 11 months older than me) so I act a bit like Liam sometimes causing ppl to either make fun of me or think I'm annoying, some ppl are kind and are understanding of why I act like I do and I'm thankful for that. Moral of the story is that with most stories you don't judge the book with the weird cover because the one you may seem less interested in may be the most interesting of all, my brother is a fun person to hangout with, you just need to know how to understand him and others alike Edit: wow I just realized this is probably the most sappiest thing I have ever either said or written and I'm not the sappy type person O.O (I kid you not when you get to know me I swear I'm like a f*cking robot I show no emotions whatsoever..)
I have never cried while watching a recap but this one made me 😩 Kudos to the writer and actors and whoever was involved in the production of this movie 👏
Why am I crying!!! I swear I honestly expected the father to die the entire movie I was just bracing myself but when I saw him in the end my heart melted, still sad that the general got away with everything but!
WOW, I watched and listened to every bit of this video and saw how hard it is to get the truth out and known. But, that once the truth is out and that there is no doubt in every bodies minds that this man was innocent, it is such a great ‘Sigh’ of relief to know and a great weight is taken off of one’s shoulders, even if and when the consequences are being ordered to be followed through for a wrong that they did not commit but are deemed guilty through unforeseen circumstances , for it is sad but, all too true, for we have seen umpteen hundreds of people serving decades in prison only to be found ‘innocent’ later on. And then, to finally be released into a society - a world 🌍 - that they don’t know anything about or how it operates. And a lot of times (that now ‘former innocent prisoner’) has only got the “Lint In His Pockets” and not even two nickels to rub together - not that it would do him any good - but, those are the cold 🥶 hard facts - about so many innocent people who were doomed to spend time behind bars for crimes that were later on found- out they NEVER COMMITTED, go figure
@2:28 Only if General knew God has chosen Memo as a medium to save his daughter from upcoming misfortune then he would have earned blessings from him by showing compassion to the needy by letting them buy the bag . Hence, the Universe would have given "positive results" of the "saving action" Memo was chosen to do by the Universe. On the other hand, Seja got bag fairly, no wicked tricks but out of anger Memo scared hell out of the child by creating drama in front of all and snatching the bag from her. That's why Universe retaliated and showed him what does it mean to be unfair to someone out of mere anger.
There are a lot of things here that I'm having trouble wrapping my head around, maybe it's a cultural thing but: how I didn't realize Turkish prisons played everything so fast and loose when it comes to security and…well just about everything. Im sure the wrong person has been executed before, but that's usually because of a wrongful conviction, not because they did it to the wrong prisoner. Secondly, why the General kill the dude? He finds out his daughter died from an accident but says "f'ck it i want him to die anyway."?? The father isn't autistic, he's mentally disabled And lastly, what's the deal with the girls mother?? She seemed perfectly normal and not unattractive, so why is she sleeping with mentally disabled guys?
This movie is a must watch for everyone especially on its original language, but sub/dub works also fine. Its a drama with tons of emotions. It gives people to understand other perspectives of lives around yourselves.
The film is not based on a true story but it was inspired by a South Korean film that had the same name and was released in 2013. However, unlike the Turkish version that pulls on the heartstrings, the original South Korean adaptation is more of a comedy-drama
This movie was so incredibly powerful. I can't watch it again because it had me so emotional. I cried the entire time, but so glad I watched. Such an incredible view of humanity.
I'm a dad to now 2 adult son with autism. What's Eating Gilbert Grape, I Am Sam and now this movie. Biggest effin tear jerkers. Im not crying, you're crying!
Isn't there a South Korean film that literally follows the same plot line and has the same movie title? What Edit: upon further research I found out that the South Korean film is the original "Miracle in cell no. 7", released in 2013 whereas this Turkish version is a remake. There is also a Filipino remake in addition as well.
