Zee Captain that person is what you call humble. She likes simplicity and does not affect the planet in a negative way. Now you come to America and this country is full of entitled toxic brats who prefer to bring each other down than uplift. I guess she’s one in a million.
*USA has joined the chat* USA: lol sorry bro but I noticed you got some oil there? Island: Yes, but it's mine and you can't have any. USA: Lolololo guess you must be new here. I know a lot of people say “oh I’d love to do that” but inreality 95% of people wouldn’t last a week there. I would love to experience it and help out the community there but it takes a strong person to live there full time.
This is fascinating! With such a small community, they are able to live their lives how it should be lived. No separation from people, having local farms,... and they don't have to do jobs to hunt for most money their whole life and living in stress. What they need, they have right there. Great way to live!
Dude she has 6 jobs so that her island can keep working properly. Do you really think that’s more convenient and relaxing than just having one job, and having everything you need in one place?
@@LogD69 As I commented below, she does them when necessary, so she has what you could say skills, not part-time jobs, which she only does when someone needs it. There isn't someone everyday who needs a roof work done, but when there is, they call her and she'll do it. I'm guessing for stuff that needs to be done everyday, those people have some ration opposite to other jobs.
Not really, she just moved 3 years ago by the time of the video, so were they in chaos before she moved? No, they were functioning alright. Still, she has become an important member of that society because she's very helpful and useful.
@@nerium9762 haha you disagree with me then delete your own comment. ok good for you also it's not politics you wrote that comment just to ruin other people's fun.
Vinícius Oliveira mostly because it’s not about the fun, she has to travel hours across places to do her work each for a few hours and she gets a few hours of sleep. Like how most people are tired from one job
@@sandisirritating4594 Possible, but this is not RU-vid closed captioning and if you look at other videos with spoken English from GBS it is not subtitled.
Her accent is from further South in Edinburgh rather than the local Orcadian, too - so she's already easier to understand than most any of her neighbors. 🏴😁🏴
Well, she's speaking Scottish English, which is a dialect with its own words in addition to an accent. Like at 1:39 she says "frae" -> "from", "wasnae" -> "wasn't", "dinnae ken" -> "don't know".
Always when I'm watching videos like these I start dreaming of moving to a more secluded place somewhere in the countryside. I truly admire her guts to have done so. What a beautiful lifestyle.
So if me and my family moved there the population would increase by over 10% ?!? Holy cow! i did not expect to be one of the most liked comments in this video. Thank you for 1000 likes!😁
Living in an island like that is priceless. They are only 50 people, but they know each other. You don't need to live in a city to have a true and wonderful life.
The skills and quality of life these people have must be so amazing. Being satisfied with what you have no matter how simple is really the key to being happy!
Rumor has it that this is Johnny Sins' hometown. He is a doctor, lawyer, businessman, plumber, firefighter, astronaut, professor, driver and too many to mention.
Watching this a year later : Now when you are walking there you need to move to the side so the cars can pass The population is rising fast ! By next month there might be 90 ppl as now there is 72 .
Zethoux Cagabcab It’s about living there and not just attempting several jobs. She found her life purpose maintaining this small community by the activities she does on a daily. It harkens back to how most of our ancestors lived. It’s not about how many jobs she has, but this fits into her purpose.
I lived on the isle of Muck ( a small island of the west coast of Scotland as well). My dad was a farmer teacher firefighter post man builder and tree feller
Holy cow this woman literally looks like my sister. My family is actually from that Island. And I know she's from edinborough but so is the other half of the family
I'm Scottish but I can understand why some people wouldn't know some stuff she says, like at 1:43 she said "dinnae ken" which means "don't know" most people outside of Scotland wouldn't know that because it's closer to German than English (kennen).
"You're never going to find a place like this" I beg to differ. Only about 26 miles north of here lies Fair Isle, being a prime example. They only just got 24 hour (limited) power this year. Exactly the same job situation and the island is even more remote.
