Sheaffer Icon Metallic Green fountain pen review 

Fascinating review. Baffling. I, too, am entranced by Art Deco, so many fountain pens appeal on that basis.

I don't know what you paid but WH Smith's are selling them online for about half price if that's helpful. Probably not a good sign...

Hi Rob. That was a strange conclusion to this review. I don't own a Sheaffer Icon so cannot really comment. I do like the design particularly the shark-nose section with a semi-hooded miniature nib. A pity this pen didn't bring you the enjoyment you hoped it would.

I really like the aesthetics of this pen, and I'm particularly fond of the green color. I saw Waski Squirrel's review earlier, and now yours. Based on the reactions you both had, I would hesitate to buy the Icon without trying it first. Such a pity, as it is really sharp looking.

I had this pen with the chrome finish, but it was too slippery for my hand. I think I will reconsider it again with this finish. Thank you for this review.

I like the looks of the Icon, though my last experience with a more modern Sheaffer was less than stellar (1990s, blister pack student pen.) The Icon is totally a Chinese pen, though the design and such are AT Cross (parent company.) As a Chinese build, you can hugely improve the writing experience simply. Replace the nib with a Chinese "Bobby" hooded nib.😁 Couple quid later, great writer. Doug Rathbun of Inkquiring Minds did that. I am starting to have issue with pens with a dubious build origin. Something suspect when they try to hide it... (Yafa anything, mostly talking about YOU.) From the #2 brand from the United States in the "golden age" of fountain pens to hit or miss quality, Sheaffer is definitely suffering today. AT Cross seems to be trying to kill the Sheaffer brand...
