Stacey Te Huia is a WOMOlife Shearing trainer who began his experience in the shed dragging lambs out for his dad 28 years ago - at 6 years old! He is now a 4 time shearing world record holder on both crossbreeds and merinos!
Stacey has worked in Australia, Scotland and England and has competed in all 3 disciplines throughout his career, achieving 50 odd speed shear wins, 20 open show wins and is both the NZ senior wool handling champion and NZ pressing champion!!
Stacey appreciates the return you can get as a shearer when you work hard and he has some excellent advice to give - "If you can commit to looking after yourself and applying yourself to your trade, it's the best job in the world. Take your holidays when there's no work and knuckle down when the season is busy. Never turn a days work down and this industry will look after you. Learn to save so during the quiet times you can rest and enjoy life."
Fun fact - enjoying life for Stacey includes having 10-12 Weet-bix with milk and cream for dessert most nights!
