I am so glad I found your channel. I repaired my parents’ wooden shutters using a similar technique. They were rotten at the bottom because their irrigation system had sprayed them for many years. I used aluminum flashing and DAP contact cement instead of caulking, and wrapped over the rotten ends. After painting to match the shutter, the repairs were unnoticeable at a normal viewing distance. I am particularly glad to learn this cladding technique. In the 1903 house I am renovating, two of three bathrooms will have windows in the shower. I will use this cladding technique on the interior, using copper instead of aluminum because I am using 120-year-old copper roofing salvaged from my front porch to make my counters. This will be perfect for the windows I need to protect.

Up north is common to cover the window exterior Moulding with aluminum and caulk it in place
