I always thought the Wickes building was bad planning because it blocked off bottom of The Moor and the Manpower Ziggurat building which could have had a pleasant courtyard with the fountain. The artist's impression for the Hanging Gardens of Moorfoot shows all the buildings at the bottom of Moorfoot gone. This fits in with the Plan, however, apparently Wickes never recovered from lockdowns.
If I was still driving an older van I wouldn't go near the town centre or ring road. I don't drive now. Wickes have another store at the bottom of Rutland Road, this I believe is outside the charge zone, correct me if I'm wrong.
I agree building costs have gone up, but people still need to have the work done. People are scared of driving anywhere near Sheffield. I had to drive my dad in a few months ago for that reason.
@@timawells another reason could be there in no appeal to go into sheffield city centre. Parking costs, the buses arnt reliable have never been. Most if the shops are chains some decent coffee shops but honestly that's it
