Why is there so much hate on this cover? It was soulful and genuine. Yes, I can see die hard Metallica fans might hate on this, but it's artistic license. Whatever. Haters goin' hate I guess.

It is a much worse of a butchery and mockery of Arabic singing than of the original Metallica song. It couldn't be any further away from soulful and genuine, which is sad because these singers can likely pull off a decent performance if that was their purpose. It's more like a tourist bazaar where the seasoned salespeople amaze the western visitors who never saw such wonderful 'hand made crafts'.

@@100ah I've been a Shefita fan for awhile now.... She has covered Aerosmith's "Pink", Radiohead's "Karma Police", a few others. This is her style. I get it isn't for everyone. She doesn't do these covers to mock or as a parody. I've been over the the Middle East off and on since 9/11. I've worked closely with Israel and the Israeli people as well as other Arab states. This is her covering music as she sees it through her own artistic view. If you don't like it, that's cool. But, I think it's a bit much to claim it "mocks" Metallica. Besides, I'm sure Metallica will be fine with all their millions and royalties.

@@Existntlangst I don't think it mocks Metallica, nor that Metallica would mind at all.. it's one of the most covered bands in history and thousands of covers of all styles have already been released. I think the way this cover approaches Arabic singing and focuses on its peculiarities, rather than its essence, is particularly bad. This isn't a song in Arabic, it's in English like all her songs, and I don't mind that at all - I believe people of all races and nationalities are entitled to experience and experiment with other cultures and their music. But to put it simply, she is not an Arabic singer who is doing rock covers in her style. She is a non-Arabic singer who does "Arabic style" covers for rock songs, and for what this amounts for, it is already a worn-out made-for-TV gimmick, that is particularly offensive and tasteless because she pretends to be a vulgar and temperamental Arab woman. edit: sp.

@@Existntlangst Yes that is exactly my point..? she is not an Arab singer making rock covers in her style, she is an Israeli singer making 'Arabic style' covers to rock songs while taking on the persona of a vulgar Arab woman. In this sense, it is a parody of Arab culture, which is okay I guess, but this is not genuine nor soulful, it is a worn-out and made-for-TV gimmick..

The girl is a singer named Shefita, she is an Israeli singer who loves Arabic music, therefore she performs with the persona of an Arabic woman. She is a veey good actress as well, her persona is hilarious. She participated in an Israeli singing contest show on TV (similar to X Factor, etc) and her moments there are priceless. The other one is Avi Biter, who makes a similar type of music. Also, his songs are supposed to be heavy. I was never interested in his somgs since I don't like this type of music, so I don't know about him that much. Especially Shedita is controversial, since people might either feel that she is making fun of Arab people or just don't like the concept. Also, Israeli people tend to really dislike such strong Israeli accent spoken in English, especially on an international level. Whatever the reasons for the dislikes are, I can promise you this cover is serious and not a parody

It seems to me that her accent is there for a reason to bring the importance of cultural diversity in humans, and to tell everyone from which part of the world she comes, which is to me very interesting as she sings the song that belongs to a totally different cultural background. I understand the tensions between the Arab world and Israelis, however I do not see this as provocation of any kind but quite the opposite. I like this on so many levels, not only the music but the message that it tries to send to all of us, however I might be wrong about this.

@@sandayben-pach4766 I understand what you mean by progressive, I as well see the problem with the words culture and tradition taken taken as something good by default. For example using the culture or tradition as positive words by default is the same as using the word natural as something always good, while the cancer is natural in a sense that it occurs naturally we humans do not find it good when it comes to our health, also in some cultures there is a tradition that husbands beat their wives, but we today have a consensus that this is bad of course, so all those words mean many things if not put into perspective and some context. This is why not everything that is a part of the culture or tradition is good just because of that, but it should be put in some context and only then the tradition or the culture have some positive meaning. In this case I am maybe wrong as I understand the conflict between the Israelis and the Arabs very briefly, but to me this brings some positive message by connecting some things that are not connected by their nature, which is for me very positive because I look at us humans as one specie.

Likely because this is cringy and offensive, and honestly it was this way since her first song. If this qualifies as 'parody' then so does blackface. Shefita knows a lot about Arab culture and singing style, it is her choice to make a vulgar mockery of it, appeal to the 'look at this Arabic style cover to rock songs' and repeat the same stale routine time and time again. I do concede that the drummer here is still much better than Lars Ulrich, but this isn't a very high bar.
