lol, the Sheikh Assim thing; we're not meant to idolize other people in Islam, we can love them for the sake of God, but not idolize other people and I think the reason Sheikh Assim makes fun of such things is because he himself doesn't like the idolization of others including himself
they earn our respect because of there knowledg . so them cracking jokes actually makes them even highter in our eyes . they set the example . you can be extreamly religious but keep ur childish side and enjoy life . since lot of ppl have a bad relationship with the religion , they see it as a restriction when in fact is just a guide and a protection
