Sheila what's bringing in the Minneapolis sound to Los Angeles by the way she was speaking and acting! We all know Prince Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis Morris Day Jerome in them brought this style to Los Angeles( Her boy was playing a song called "Sister fate" in the beginning)🖤
You see I do not sing but I make a song you love your whole life And I hope you live long on the gong show I won't get gong it's RUN DMC not Cheech and Chong That's crazy I remember that and never forgot that 32 years later... WOW. CALI GROWN OUTT.
Yep , I even said while Sheila was rehearsing Holly Rock, these are the chords for Sister Fate from the Romance 1600 album and by the way I always liked the old lady impersonation 100%TOTAL PRINCE
@@shantem92 The music Benny is playing first is the Sister Fate music. Then they go into Holly Rock. The first keyboard riff is basically the same anyway.... Da-Da...Daaaaa
Karen Moss, who was Sheila E's manager in the movie is the biological mother of Nicole Richie. The biological father is Peter Escovedo, Sheila E's brother. He asked Lionel Richie to take care of her, and he and his then wife adopted her.
I knew it was someone from the Purple Rain tour, I think Sheila has said a wardrobe girl. Karen looks very together here and she made it sound like that girl was too young and not established enough to be a mother at the time.
I love this clip. Playing a LinnDrum & DX7 live here!! A real sign of the times.. Run Dmc kicking a freestyle over the Linn. But WHAT THE HELL is Sheila E doing in this movie??
She’s so freaking cute! I watched this movie as a literal baby and fell in love with Sheila E and the Fat Boys! Finally watched it again as an adult and realized I had great taste and sense of humor 🤣
At first they're just messing around and playing the chords to Sister Fate from Sheila's 2nd album Romance 1600. Then she improvs (in the movie) the rap that becomes Holly Rock which was on the Krush Groove soundtrack and a single at the time. The chords to both songs are similar.
Shelia E looks too old for some reason, she's right when she tells Run he's like a little brother. And she's into Prince in real life. It feels like Prince partly financed this movie
I never felt Sheila E s performance on Krush Groove. She tried that Morris Day act and It fits better on Morris himself. Its like when Gina tried to act like Martin Lawrence on “Martin”. Yall can say Im hatin or whatever, but thats just my opinion. A fabulous and phenomenal drummer and musician….Yes definitely. But the Morris Day was and is to this day Cringey.
I read Prince made her and the band rehears over and over again; I'm sure the Morris Day thing was his idea (which was he used to do himself as "Jamie Starr" on some rare songs.
@@Turnip3 could be…but I know Prince was a control freak and kinda sleazy if he wasn’t involved with control. Im sure he gave her the blessing, but Prince was solely against rap at this time and didn’t want any association with it. As for Sheila E, He may or may not have help her with the lines, but as for me, some people can pull it off, but she just couldn’t do in my eyes. I could see Apollonia maybe pulling it off, but only as a mockery or joke. Sheila E..👎🏼
@@esalinas53 Ironically, Morris Day's whole schtick was really Prince's; it was based on Prince's own "Jaime Starr" alter ego which was based on his dad's friends. Morris talks about it in his book.
@@Turnip3 Definitely all Prince’s Idea But Morris put his own twist on it and it fit him well. It was something about when Shelia E did it, just seemed cringy to me. Thats just me though
No yall these were all Prince Personalities Sheila and Morris's Stage presence were extensions of Prince. He shaped them... Check out a song from Prince Called Cloreen Bacon Skin Its Prince...
The role was a singer-percussionist who thought that she didn't need to learn how to rap. She basically played herself. No one can play her better than her!
