Whenever I watch Shein videos I always see comments about their "slave labor workers". I don't think ppl realize most Western brands do this too. But for some reason the only brands getting called out are the ones from China. No one says anything about Fashion Nova or others. Seems like ingrained xenophobia to me.

I think when it comes to cheaper makeup, we should consider who’s losing money at the other end. I know it’s not possible for everyone to afford ethical makeup, but at what cost are we jumping to the best deal we can get our hands on? I love Manny’s videos so much, this is not a criticism of him in any way❤️

I’m not sure if I believe that there is a makeup brand out there that is 100% ethical. Some companies like Colourpop make their products in the US so you at least we know they’re not running a sweatshop however they also use ingredients like mica that for all we know could have been farmed by children. I wish there was a way we could find out where brands source their ingredients from. I’ve pretty much put any makeup buying on hold for now 😕

Mellie Darcy I agree, I buy from Colourpop because they seem to be ethical and don’t test on animals, plus they’re not super inexpensive to the point where it’s worrying but not expensive enough for it to hurt my pockets. And I only buy what I feel I need cause I’m sort of new to makeup so certain products I still don’t have and can’t buy in person.

At first I would agree but if you look at their ethics page or pause when manny scrolls through the ethic page on Fair Labor practice they pay their workers fairly and do not condone child labor.

It seemed Manny himself was considering that himself by pausing multiple times to say “what the fuck….” Or just in disbelief. But he could get into trouble by voicing or forcing his thoughts on what unethical processes SHEIN may use because he’s an influencer with no evidence… which is sad but then again he could have avoided this by avoiding purchasing and making a video on SHEGLAM.

i used to like shein. yes, western brands we use also use child labor, but the goal is we should bring light to all types of major companies. and yes you are completely right!! we shouldn’t immediately cancel a brand. brands like shein, nike, h and m, etc need to all be equally brought to light and realize what they are doing is wrong Edit: also i LOVE how you are truthful and not afraid to sugarcoat like “hey. this isn’t right, let’s change it”

I just wish that people talked about the child and slave labor behind the cheap prices. Edit: I love Manny and this isn’t me criticizing him doing his job and getting paid. It’s just something I wish in general was more widely addressed and we normalized paying a little more for more transparent sourcing and business practices. There are a lot of resources here on RU-vid and out in the world if you want to learn how to find more ethically sourced products.

Ahhhhh yea probably cheep ingredients that are not so good OMG I looked it up the first ingredient is Mika child Labor we did a. Thing on it in English last year kids get killed they get a bowl of rice per family

Maddie :0 expensive brand use mica in their cosmetics aswel. That some brands charge more doesn’t mean that they don’t use child labour look at Nike,apple, Zara, h&m, primark etc.
