Absolutely! He got screwed out of winning Le Mans, and the Triple Crown, by a stupid, stupid publicity hack. Worse yet, a week later he was dead. I nearly weep every time I think about this...
Not only Miles, he had a co driver you know? A very good co driver in fact by the name of Denny Hulme. In fact a much better driver than Ken Miles. Hulme was the 1967 World Formula 1 world champion and a multiple Can Am race winner too.
The gearshift is in the center, but was actually mounted to the RIGHT of the driver, and there are no external rear-view mirrors. I still like this model.
Nice review! I just picked up the non-raced version of it at TRU today. And, saw the actual car at the Shelby American Collection in Boulder, CO yesterday.
Just ordered it from the Netherlands. Shiping costs are incredible expensive but well. 150$ well spend :D this model will be worth much more in 10 years hehe
Ken Miles and Dennis Hulme WON the 1966 24 Hours of LeMans. Henry Ford Jr. took it away from them with his grandstand idea of having Ken slow down to let the other two cars of Ford catch up and finish together. What a stupid idea it was!
Great video as always - I got one of these and its a superb model but the front red teardrop motif's look wrong. compared to pictures on the net. Also it has two fuel caps - eh! - and no black pinstripes on the outside of the white lines over the spare wheel cover. I'm I missing something or what?
I just bought it second hand (the non-weathered one) and one of the doors doesn't really stay shut if i it around. Any solutions? Is it hard to open it up to see if there are any loose screws?
Hey +David Land have you found wave 6 of the NASCAR Authentics anywhere? I only ask this because I cant find them anywhere near me, It doesn't matter where I go Target, Walmart, etc.
Great review mate..unfortunately here in UK they are more expensive (I would say due to inport tax etc etc)..I can here how pleased you are (as I certainly would be!) Keep up the reviews mate..Well done Rob
