Hi Mark, it was nice to run into you again this year on Friday. I actually walked the whole thing and, while always neat things and interesting, I actually walked away empty handed! I love the old equipment, but have become rather pragmatic about adding more “stuff” to the “stuff” I already have collected, restored, played with. I used to attend the Shelby Hamfest Every Year with my father. We used to show up on Thursday to get the best spot. We used to set up next to the Volunteer Fire Department (close to the Bathrooms). I believe the last time I attended the Shelby Hamfest was 1997 when Princess Diana Died. The show was a bit too much for my father to handle. We always packed the truck and trailer to the brim with oddball electronics and started selling the moment we opened the trailer up. It was good times, kind of like a weekend vacation meeting new people and visiting old friends. I think I spent more time wandering around the Hamfest than at my booth. I always got the "where the Heck have you Been" every time I came back. It's a big Hamfest, almost as Big as the Dayton Hamfest (in Ohio) which we also used to attend. My father passed away in 2016. I still go to the Stone Mountain Hamfest every Year, although I no longer set-up. Getting too old I guess. Anyhow.. On to finish watching your Video.. KB4VQX

Mark. Love your videos and great information sharing.. saw your new Heathkit 2232 component tracer. I have one (working) and a working Huntron 1005B. They do work similarly but the Heathkit looks better!
Ha! Nice hamfest indeed. I once had a RL13P35, and GU-81 are pretty common in my parts. You got a nice haul, and that big multi-voltage power supply looks absolutely wonderful.

Thanks for the video, was there Saturday also. A caveat on the Warrior. That one appears stock in the PS, they are known to have some catastrophic failures, the kind that blacken then entire underside of the chassis, so check all components carefully, maybe hi-pot test transformers, especially that rectifier filament transformer. It is a negative lead choke input filter, double check all resistors in the PS especially the 50K 100 watt big one. Consider an inrush protector, especially if you convert it to solid state rectifiers. It was also intended to work with the Marauder SSB/CW/Controlled Carrier AM transmitter, not the Apache where it is a waste there with its plate modulation already peaking at 400 watts, and you will need to provide cutoff bias supplied externally, or a homebrew circuit built into the amp.
Great hamfest an I saw a lot of deals. I'm looking forward to the Findlay, Ohio hamfest next Sunday, Sept. 11. I've already started my list of "stuff" that I need (or, really, just want).
IN the DC Metro area, we had some great hamfests 20 yrs. ago, but most of them have totally dried up! However, the Kutztown Radio Show grows each year, for those who are into audio and vintage radio, much less ham gear there.
if you're a new ham, these hamfests will allow you to get started in the hobby super cheap. this was my very first one and i scored some nice equipment cheap! 73 KY4IT

Seeing this video really makes me sad in a way. I remember the days of Shelby where ALL the buildings were busting at the seams with vendors and not a bare flea market spot was to be had.
I noticed you have an Extech EX330 on one of your videos. I am wondering if it will measure inductance? I'm a newbie wanting to modify home audio gear, including speakers. I see that the 330 does resistance, but is inductance different? If you have another multimeter recommendation with inductance, that would be great too.
Great vid Mark. Saw you rambling around. You know, it IS really sad to see all these old, overweight, silver headed white guys as the last populates of the hobby. I predict we’ll lose a LOT of allocations as time goes by. The hobby is becoming less and less viable with each passing SK. I did buy a pristine Icom IC-271A in original factory packaging. It may have been used a few minutes and then stored and forgotten about since 1985. Looked like the day it was delivered to the retailer. Came from an SK estate.

Well, most of those pioneer amps have busted glass. I could not bring myself to recondition them even after buying the kits, so I sold untouched. I wonder what they priced them? I messed up a vintage Kenwood (grabbed the witch hazel instead of alcohol bottle) and decided I should pivot to another hobby :D Thanks for the videos Mark!! -- From Raleigh

If you run into one I would pay very well for it if it’s in very good condition. I’m subscribed to you and I have cash on hand please if can keep and eye out for one or even two. I’ll pay for shipping and if you find one let me know if you would sell it. Seriously looking as of yet nothing I would buy. One on eBay way to molested with holes drilled in chassis so not for me. Help! Yes I am asking for help but first let me say I really appreciate knowing that you come down to Orlando I visit the Orlando ham Fest every year kilo Jupiter for Zulu foxtrot Michael that's my call sign. I need a little help with something if it's possible I just got back into doing some repair work and I happen to run into some guys down here in Florida that could use a decent technician and I do mean a decent technician can't stand to see a radio chopped up and all the other bad things that so-called technicians do to radio equipment anyway my question is I understand that you run some sencore equipment and I'm looking for some help finding or constructing the testing cables for a sencore CB42 analyzer. Please if you have any info or know of someone please call me I'll answer I need help.
Used to go to these ham fests all the time come to realize I was a Hoarder I stopped . Its to bad its a dying hobby after watching this video it looks like the average age of the people walking around is probably mid to late 60s . the young have no interest in ham radio . it will be gone once this generation is gone . there is gonna be a lot of equipment in the landfills .
