My problem with this episode was that Amy ruined the chances of Sheldon accepting the table in another scene. Leonard asked why buying the couch with Sheldon's beloved spot when they didn't have one at first was a good change but buying a dinner table was a bad change. Sheldon was actually stumped and couldn't find anything to say... but then Amy said "you don't need to explain yourself to him" and Sheldon jumped on that.

I enjoyed this show, watched it 3 times. But its moments like these that make me grateful, I didn't have to deal with people like Sheldon

I know this series is making these situations for comedic effect, but people like Sheldon should be avoided at all cost in real life.

This episode reminders me of other sitcoms where a piece of furniture, usually against the wall opposite of the fourth wall that hardly gets used, is used one episode and some comments how weird it is that no one uses it and it’s kind of a waste of space

Raj had a point. One of Sheldon worse episodes. Where he acts like a baby, gets treated like a baby, and then FOR NO REASON the adults let the baby get his way. Hell Penny is the one who forced the issue AND THEN GIVES IN JUST BECAUSE!!!!!!! “Sometimes the baby win”. Change sometimes to always and you have TBBT in a nutshell. And it’s why the show started to suck.

This episode pissed me off. They let Sheldon get his way. I wish Amy would’ve chimed in with Leonard saying why was the couch a good change and the tables a bad change? And I wish they all would’ve told Sheldon tough shit eat all by yourself then.

This is a prime example of why he sucks.

If anything, Sheldon should be in agreement to having a dining table to eat food in a correct posture and less chance of spillages. While a dining table does mean being more social, which he may not like, he would want to pick out a table which best suits him being at the head of it.

This is the proof the writers didn't fully understand nerds, who wouldn't choose Samwise as their favourite Hobbit

In other words his mommy made him sit at a table all the time now he does what he wants no matter who likes it or not.

I know some people go the "waaah, why did Sheldon get his way again"-route, but please remember: There was literally no chance that this could have gone any other way. Why? Because the table wasn't comparable with the concept of the show. For one, if Amy and Sheldon would have sit there aswell, they would sit with their backs to the audience. There was also no chance for a group-shot. And not to mention that you don't change "the table", which usually is the cornerstorn for most sitcoms. The literal ending-shot of TBBT is them sitting around the couch.

I'd love to wipe that smirk off Sheldon's face. Is it written into Jim Parson's contract that Sheldon always wins?

I think more to the point of why they wouldn't use the table is that it makes shooting the show much harder than if they're sitting in a way that's already facing the camera (i.e the couch area).

Y'know, at some point, without an opposing, or normal force, against your buttocks / glute to build that resilience, your lower back will become weaker, and glutes. Hip bones will overemphasize you core stability, along with the slouching. That's how I got sciatica easier at 23. Yeah, I began working out, didn't do everything right, .like body alignment and lifting / technique, but I sat on my bed excessively from poor habits (and roomed w/ someone who always had her boyfriend over in the living room, thus I stayed in my room). That said... You need a dining table / hard chairs for overall health. Their backs are always dipped in buttwink, uneven spine alignment, likely overworked quads, suspecting their not mindful using the majority of their cores and lower body for stairs. Good stamina maybe. tldr: regardless Sheldon's a physicist, biomechanics and health science favors a table. Plus, the scenes would've been wholesome. Like lunch at CalTech, but cozy in the guy's den. And Raj is correct, his lower back is being overextended always slouched. He needs back support on a literal chair / surface. Sheldon's a dumba$$

I’m reading a lot of anger towards Sheldon, and I don’t disagree that he gets his way nearly all the time with everyone unfairly, however I think these moments are being overlooked - 2:05 - 2:11 2:35 - 2:47 Ironic that Penny told Leonard not to allow Sheldon to boss him around but then she did the same thing essentially - not exactly bossed him around but Leonard only chose the dining table because Penny liked it and was happy not because he liked it. Double standard hypocrisy from both of them, especially Penny. The issue is that Leonard has no trouble standing up to Sheldon and complaining about him doing that to him, but Penny does the same thing and even things that Sheldon doesn’t do to Leonard and he gladly gives into and takes it from her because he cares about getting laid by her. At least Sheldon is consistent with his actions and decisions on purpose and not to get sex out of it from them. Leonard also only gave up in the end because Penny told him to, yet Sheldon’s the only one who’s blamed for being too controlling when Penny has asserted dominance over Leonard too that he just allows because he gets sex if he enables her.

Now thinking about it, when watching young Sheldon, the seating arrangement of the couch and tv is similar to the the dining table in young Sheldon, with Leonard sitting in one end of the coffee table like George sr, Penny sitting opposite Sheldon like Mary cooper and Sheldon sitting in his spot.

This shows a lot of the problems I always had with the show. Sheldon behaves like an asshole and rather than having the group helping him accept the change and be less childish about it they end up spending money into a great table they're never going to use because he doesn't like it. On top of that, no nerd in the history of nerd culture will pick Frodo over Sam, or even be slightly mad about "sticking with Sam".

Some people could tolerate Sheldon. Its a matter of how much patience you have. There is a psycological theory,basically, if you spot it you got it.

I often thought that's why Penny and Sheldon got on so well. They were both bullies that fed off each other. Sheldon, always being written to get his own way, was a disservice to the character.

Instead of getting rid of the desk they should have gotten rid of Sheldon.

Sheldon played his Trump Card and played on their emotions and being distant and apart so they became sympathetic to his needs to be in a relationship with them. As a consequence of witch Sheldon gained the leverage and was then in point of fact become the leader of the rebellious malcontents

My issue with this is, Sheldon is an avid D&D player, a table is the best place for that.

I had a friend that was 30 % like sheldon . One day , we were planning something and he flipoed off about this and that . We gave him an ultimatum that he can leave our group , he didn't. Long story short , 2 heart stopping slaps and one leg fracturing kick got him out of his problems in an instance. He is normal since them . When you make people entitled, they start behaving like one 😅
