The Kafka castle cover is a painting by Magritte

I should have frigging known! Of course it is. Of anyone's, Magritte's paintings might be the ones best suited for repurposing as cover art. A runner-up might be MC Escher -- I always thought that the pairing of Escher pictures with Borges collections was a penguin classic cover match made in heaven.

Not sure why Part 5 is what was recommended to me (or why I started watching here) but I'm glad I did. You have a really great collection and style of video. Also great to see someone else who's spent time around the Chicago bookstores. Excited to see what else you do.

Iris Origo is an interesting woman. She was English born and married an Italian count. During WW II, their estate in Siena was a refuge for war orphans, partisans, Jews, and downed pilots. I have only read three of her books. A Chill in the Air is a diary covering the build up to the war. War in Val d'Orcia covers the last year of the fighting in Italy. Images and Shadows is the memoir of Origo's childhood. All three I recommend! Recently read "The Man Who Loved Islands" by Lawrence. That was really screwed up!

I agree! Thanks for calling this out. I am currently ravenously hungry for ideas for character dynamics. I'm trying to write lots of short stories and dialogues in the coming days.
