A comparison of the Allen Edmonds Leeds Plain Toe Blucher, the Crockett and Jones for Ralph Lauren Plain Toe Blucher and reference to the Alden Plain to Blucher.
I believe...or so it is I understand, the Allen Edmonds Leeds...is a true "blucher"...whereas, the Crockett and Jones, is simply a "derby". It was explained to me...that a true blucher has separate pieces of leather, (in this case shell cordovan), as the eyelets, and the eyelets of a derby are part of the "quarter" piece of leather. I could be wrong...but it is the way I understand it. Beautiful shoes. Both pair are phenomenal. I am not a rich man by any means, (yet I have the taste of one...lol), so I thrift many pairs of high quality shoes, and recently came across a pair of Allen Edmonds shell cordovan Leeds, for $9.99. I was quite excited. Of course they are in used condition, and will need some attention. A re-soling is immenent. However...there are no tears, rips, or major damage to them. I do need to work on the shell, for it has bloom ALL over them. They appear quite antique...as a result...lol. But I know...with the right Saphir products...I can make them look quite presentable. Love your channel...keep up the "good work".
Thanks for the interesting videos. Your shoes are so beautiful. I am interested in purchasing Ralph Lauren/C&J shoes but there isn't a store near me to try on shoes. I own Allen Edmonds shoes. Do you wear the same size in all Allen Edmonds' styles? Was your Ralph Lauren/C&J size the same as the corresponding Allen Edmonds style (ie Leeds vs C&J blucher, MacNeil vs C&J wingtip, Grayson vs C&J tassel loafer, etc.)? Thanks. I wish they would have a sale on the Leeds calf. I was under the impression that the Barrie last was wider than the 511, but it doesn't look like it in the video.
I'm new to higher end shoes and all the different styles in general but are those beautiful Crockett and Jones considered Derby's? or do you use blucher and Derby interchangeably?
I have just a brief question. Do you have any or have you heard of "mosquito bites" in the finish of a shell cordovan shoe? I received a couple of 2nds " special makeups and was told this is normal. So any info you could provide would be appreciated.

Great video! I just happened to see this video because I am starting to look at he Alden Blucher shoes. This video is old so do you still have the shoes and what are your thoughts now about the Alden shoes. They cost over $800 now. So you think these shoes are close in quality. Allen Edmonds shoes are around $600 now. So if you are still checking this site I would like to know your thoughts about this and what about the comfort of the Alden Blucher shoes and would you purchase a pair now for over $800. Thanks

Hello, would you say the LEEDS fit TTS ? I keep reading feddback saying they are a bit narrow, but you say they are more like the Alden barrie last....What is your size in the barrie and leeds then ? Thanks !
Yes - the Leeds fit TTS for me. I am a 11.5D in the Barrie Last, and 12D in the Leeds. I could probably do 11.5E in the Leeds, but the 12D just felt better.
