Thank you for this! Super informative, I've heard/seen these terms used on descriptions but never knew what they meant. Your channel has been so helpful for me again on understanding everything about goodyearwelt shoes so thanks again :)
5:11 - Steve, from Bedo's Leatherworks says "Topy" is a brand of sole guards, not every soul guard is a Topy. Possibly, this is an example of Brand Names that are Regular Nouns, such as Xerox, Kleenex, or Q-tips. It became the name for a product that many other companies produce.
I think the actual term for the marking is called “fudging,” not “wheeling.” Not positive, but that’s the term I’ve seen most often. It is certainly made by a wheeled tool, but that’s not the term used by the marking.
Hi! Thank you so much for your videos. I wanted to ask you if you only wear Shell Cordovan? Or do you also wear other leather shoes? If so, in which other colors?
Thanks for making this video. How much louder is the double oak sole on hard wood or linoleum? These are my primary home and work surfaces. Love the idea of double sole but don’t want to sound like a freight train coming down the hallway. Thank you
You have over 40 pairs of Cordovan leather shoes. That’s over $40,000 of shoes. How much money do you have to make per year to afford or warrant having such an investment in shoes? I ask because I can understand having a Rolex worth $40k but you don’t need more than 4 expensive shoes. So to have so many, I am wondering.
I amassed these over the course of a few years, and plan to wear them for a long time. Men’s dress fashion does not change much year to year or even decade to decade. I take the same approach with my suits and ties. I have 25 suits and wear each one no more than 10 or so times each year. This reduces the wear on each one and lets them last longer. This way, I can invest in quality and have the added bonus of wearing a very nice wardrobe every day.
