Garage Band sounds fine. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Thanks for the stacks.

I have an English pressing of "One Meat Ball" by The Andrews Sisters and the version that Tony Pastor & His Orchestra recorded on Victor. Funny, I can remember exactly where I bought my Andrews Sisters copy. I think I paid a whopping 50 cent for it at a thrift store.

Would love to hear the Tony Pastor version. Think I'll have to hunt that down. Skol! Jeff

Hello, Jesiah! Thanks for watching and commenting! Greatly appreciate it! Happy to inspire others to check out early jazz and swing. So much good music from the early decades. Enjoy your exploration! Skol, Jeff

@@ToneInGroovesHey Thanks for the reply,i was rewatching the video and noticed you mentioned how you had to use a new recording program to record your vinyl and 78's.i suggest you try Spin it again by Acustica, it only cost 20.00 to buy and i've been using it since 2009, an old high school history teacher recommend it to me when i was still in school and i've been Archiving my Record Collection with it ever since,good luck and keep spinin' Jesiah. P.S. i tried to see i there's a Install for Mac but i'm still unsure if there is one.

"Redskin Rhumba" was Charlie Barnet's theme, based on Ray Noble's "Cherokee," which Barnet also recorded for Bluebird on July 17th, 1939.

Hey, Jeremy! Did not know that was Barnet's theme song. Thanks for the detail. And thanks for watching and commenting. Always greatly appreciated! Skol, Jeff

Catching this one year later. Sooo enjoyed thank you.👍❤️ Loved the set up. Have been collecting for a while and love it as much any hobbies I enjoy. Started with coins, baseball cards, comic books as a very young paperboy in the 70's and enjoy our vibrate, varied national history especially early jazz, bluegrass, WWII big band onward to gospel, rock, & easy listening. Keep spinning ❤️

Thanks so much for the shoutout and for playing “One Meat Ball” 😀. I was hoping you would feature it. Ry Cooder’s cover version is a fun listen too but I think the Andrew Sisters version is the bomb! So good! I think the new set up with Garage Band sounds good. I enjoyed the whole show, Jeff. Thanks again. Cheers

Hey, Topper! Thanks for watching and commenting. And thank you for inspiring me! I've been busy and not making videos, but kept thinking: "Topper asked you to play that One Meat Ball song. You gotta do a listening session." Yeah, I was pleased with how the Garage Band recording came out. Only thing so far...I don't see a way to make a mono recording. I like to digitize my 78s and record them in mono. Maybe there is a way and I just need to get better aquatinted with the software. Anyway... thanks again. Skol! Jeff

Fun listens! Recently subbed to your channel after diving into collecting 78s. My first shellac stacks listening session watched. What inner sleeves do you use?
@ToneInGrooves
@ToneInGrooves 4 года назад
Hello, Tyler! Thanks for watching and commenting! I buy the 78 sleeves from Bags Unlimited. Usually the gold ones, but this last time around a bought the white ones which are a slightly heavier paper. Skol! Jeff

Somehow I've missed your channel until now. Great, fun stuff, now subbed. I just received a stack of 78s but have no way to play them so I might take the plunge. I've been curious about Charlie Barnet since Tom Waits mentioned him in one of his songs. Looking forward to more! (another) Jeff btw.

Hello, Jeff!! Always good to meet another Jeff in the VC. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subbing! Appreciate it greatly! I got into 78s after I was given a couple of boxes. Hauled them around for years and then finally decided to buy a turntable that will play them. I have enthralled the moment I dropped the needle on the first 78 I played - Apalachicola, FLA by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. Still love that song! I encourage you to take the plunge! What is the mixer brand name PLEASE And why are you using for 78rpmrecord? Thanks
@ToneInGrooves
@ToneInGrooves 2 года назад
It's a Numark M6. I use it to mix the music from the records with my voice on the microphone. Also, has it's own built in phono pre-amp and tone controls so I'm able to refine the sound from each record by adjusting bass, midrange, and treble. Thanks for watching and commenting. Skol! Jeff

I have the same TT. Are you using an ortofon 78 stylus? I use a program called vinyl studio: www.alpinesoft.co.uk/ There is a fix for Audacity and Mac OS Catalina: www.audacityteam.org/macos-10-15-catalina-is-not-yet-supported-by-audacity/

@ToneInGrooves 4 года назад
Thank you for watching and commenting. In answer to your question...no, I use the Grado 78 cartridge & stylus. I like it! And thank you for all the info. Really appreciate it. Yes - I saw that Audacity fix for the mac and tried entering that string into the Utilites app. But it didn't work. Quite possibly an error on my part. I'm not very computer savvy, so I probably did something wrong. The Vinyl Studio software looks quite promising. I'll probably give the free trial a go and see how I like it. Thanks, again!

After some more research, I figured it out! Had to download the newest version of Audacity. Probably should have thought of that. But anyway...Audacity seems to be working again! Yeah!
