Sha`Carrie Richardson ran without warming up. (Although I must admitt... Shelly-Ann Fraser is 37 years old, with an injury 6 months ago, and Sha`Carrie is 23 years old and young).
It is sad that someone there did not personally escort her and Sha’Carri to the correct gate so they can quickly get in and through whatever “security” there was. Neither got to warm up. Sha’Carri ran but risked injury. Shelly-Ann at her age (still young but 15 years older then SR) couldn’t without proper warmup. The Paris Olympics are responsible for NOT allowing everyone to see SA run her final 2 100m races. I’m a huge SA fan and the race and now the Paris Olympics is a total disappointment. That and the final race was what a few million viewers wanted and the “rules” created without telling any athletes destroyed it...... IMHO. Reporting was bad as many people already pointed out. I think SA dug deep to not call out the OC in her statement because she did not want any impact on other Jamaican athletes.
And the whole point of watching all the way from Nigeria for me was to see Shirley run and go out with a bang. There's no point for me any more. What a disappointment.

I was in Paris last week. The security is super super strict and they were pretty unreasonable at times because nobody really could give explanations for anything. In this case they robbed us of the greatest female sprinter ever competing on the global stage for one last time
They said they weren't on the team buses. Each athlete has their own credentials. They knew who they were. I am a fan of both of the and even though we knew this was Shelley's final Olympics, you always want to see them compete. Be blessed to the "mommy rocket"
This Olympics was done with cost saving measures from cardboard beds to things like not being allowed to use the warm up track. If she didnt appear in the race, obviously there was a reason. She will always be a great Olympian regardless.

Would it have hurt anyone to have let them thru? This makes no sense when the guards know the they are athletes competing in the races and their job should have been to accommodate them, after all the people paid to see them run, they are the attraction. The Paris Olympic organizers owe them an apology. I can see where this would affect someone who is already a sensitive person and it probably threw Sha'Carri off, just looking at her sitting there she looked bewildered.
I haven't following all that close but having the Olympics in Paris has been a completely disaster with what i'm been seeing. That's so crazy! the food, the living situations...This should never have happened. They should never host the Olympics again!

These different narratives being reported sound strange. 3 Jamaicans who all medaled last Olympics in the 100 meters aren’t running. 1 didn’t come-coaching changes, other problems, etc…but Jackson and Fraser-Pryce’s circumstances have been weird. They had a decent chance of medaling here.

Shelly-Ann and ShaCarri did warm up they just had to enter the area through a different gate because they were lodging outside of the Olympic villa! What’s closer to the truth is that WADA tested Sharicka, Shelly-Ann and many Jamaica athletes for doping especially since JAAA has failed time and time to consistently provide doping tests for their sprinters. And rumors say that both ladies tested positive and thus their secret exit from the games! They say IOC and WADA gave them to withdraw with the injury excuse and they would save the legacy that’s left for both sprinters since most likely they won’t be returning to LA 2028!

They had went to the same gate the day prior & had access without issue. The vid was posted by the Jamaican Observer, they were told of the “rule change”upon arrival on the day of the race. They were told that the supposed “rule change” had been made the day prior, so the same day that they were allowed entrance without issue, so they were not informed of the new rule change, it’s clear that the whole debacle set them both back😏

No, it is true that Shaccari was also delayed in warm-up for the 100. Both of these athletes should have been allowed to enter the gate as they did the day before. Unfortunately, Shelly could not short change her warm-up because she has been nursing an injury already this season and probably just didn't want to risk more injury due to a rushed warm-up.
Shelly-Ann stated she was injury I don’t believe that. I think she was upset because they didn’t let her through. They didn’t let Shacari through either but she still compete and won a silver medal. I am Jamaican and I wanted was to see my Jamaican ladies win some medals. I am very disappointed.

The security personnel on race day told them that, the supposed “rule change” was made the day prior, so the same day the ladies had access with no problems. SFP goes onto say, how are you going to change the rules & not notify the athletes. Sha’Carri was sitting on the curb by the gate looking visibly upset & irritated, her coach Dennis Mitchell was nearby in the background, but both SFP & Sha’Carri maintained their composure, at the end of vid they were still not allowed access to include what appeared some more athletes, Sha’Carri, her coach as well as other athletes were redirected to an alternate gate, I’m sure SFP was right behind them, so one can assume that neither of them had adequate time for warmups bcuz of the debacle, SFP having an injury was reported after the gate entry thing, as she appeared to be fine & ready to go, so she may have acquired an injury while rushing to get to the other side of the stadium, if they had warmups it probably wasn’t a sufficient amount of time, or SFP may have simply felt disrespected as she should & decided not to race, who knows but it was most unfortunate that SFP was not able to run in her last & final Olympic Games. Any last minute changes can throw off any athlete especially at an event as big as the Olympics, clearly Sha’Carri was not herself, no fault of her own, she still medaled but I’m sure all the confusion set them both back, would have like to have seen them both run at their best😏
109% agree with you! She showed up with every intention of running at that gate, no injury. People saying she got injured dueing WARM UPS? she just ran a 9.92 in prelims without incident. She couldnt put her pride aside and felt disrespected. End of story

I’m sure she has her reasons which will remain private and may she be BLESSED. But from the outside looking in I cannot fathom going this far and dropping out within a few minutes before the race. I would like to see the games have a “injury reporter” so that if there’s an injury that can be the person to give the official report because this is masked in cloudiness -> which will do nothing but spark conspiracy theories and controversy.
They put her in a situation where she would be at risk of injury and wouldn’t be able to run her best. And honestly, she had more to lose than to gain at this point in her life. She is 37. Shacarri and wouldn’t be as affected by not warming up at her younger age.

This Olympics seemed rushed and not put together well. They put more effort into the gay/queer opening ceremony. Than they did the actual sporting events.
She wasn’t able to warm up due to the delay. At her age, that puts her at risk for injury and makes it impossible to run her best. She had more to lose than to gain by running.
Both Sha'Carri and Shelly were denied proper time to warmup before the Semis. I do not say this to argue that the winner of the 100 m race did not deserve her win, but If you look at Sha'carri right before the gun goes off, you can tell something is amiss just from the expression on her face. In regards to Shelly pulling out, her racing without properly warming her leg muscles definitely could've resulted in injury. She made a wise call by not risking her health when the Paris Officials clearly were in the wrong from the jump. These two women were the front runners for this event, and for them to have been denied access to the warmup area for any duration of time is ridiculous. Those officials knew who Sha'Carri and Shelly were, and could have easily verified them, did their security check, and let them inside the gates. For this alone, someone should be held accountable because of those officials reflects badly on the Paris Olympics Committee in an entirety. It makes it look like foul play was at hand, even if it wasn’t intentional.

Shelly could have warmed up in her backyard. Shaccari was blocked too and she still came through for silver. Shelly knew she was injured and was afraid to lose. This is why I think Shelly is the GOAT. She is protecting her image. I guess its the best decision.
Without making a definitive statement as to why she didn’t show up, leaves so much room for speculation! I get that she’s a human, which means we won’t always have the practices on board, to handle a situation. She has all my respect, as an elite athlete, for the joy, and entertainment she’s brought to the sport. The rumors about her being excluded need to stop! That would’ve been the easiest thing for her to say, if it were the truth.
So why didn't someone in management arrange all these things for her? She shouldn't be just strolling to get into an area which probably wasn't open at the time for anyone... pretty sure that the warm-up area is available for athletes only at specific time and not just walk in anytime...Her management staff is to be blamed...

Right. It’s still weird. Elaine had a different coach and other concerns but it’s still very strange that the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists in the 100 last time couldn’t even get to the semis.
I have yet to hear from the athletes themselves why they were denied entry through the gate. I’ve seen one source say it’s because they were late and the gate closed after a certain time, another said it’s because they weren’t on the vehicle for athletes. Have the involved parties talk, the athletes or security personnel that worked that gate.

She had rules to follow and did not follow them. All athletes must go on supplied olympic transport to warm up area due to security. She chose to take her own transport and could not gain entry. Simple as that
Sha'carri was also held up from warming up. Carrie didn't run close to her best time of the year but before this she seemed to be peaking. Now I think homegirl from St Lucia could have beat everybody but it sucks that we didn't get the best field to see it.
The only "injury" that Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce had suffered was to her psyche. Kudos, SAFP for not allowing the worst Olympics host in history to disrespect you.
SAF didn’t run because she knew she wasn't going to make it to the final. So this was a financial decision. Her days of commanding good appearance fees for racing are fee remaining, and if she didn't make the finals her stock would have plummeted. Meaning it is likely her fees would have dropped more than 50%. So I believe this was a business decision. I also think it was the same for Sherika Jackson, except Jackson's issue was that she was not healthy physically and was unlikely to beat the upcoming Gabby Tomas who is primed and ready. So by bowing out, Sherika can still command significant appearance fees as they build up to an eventual clash between previous Olympic champion and this year's Olympic. The makeketing to that buildup race would generate significant dollars for Sherika and Gabby(if she wins Paris 200).
I'm American and I am disappointed to hear Shelly is not running. However, I hope she continues to compete in other global meets over the coming years. She's a force of nature, and we love seeing her compete.🏃🏾♀️👍🏼♥️
