so refreshing to see devices with 100% local push control available right out of the box without any flashing. And then for folks that want to flash, nice to see the company making the headers easily available and not gluing products closed and stuff like that. Makes me want to support that company with my money.

Same here! Always nice to see the options of all things right out of the box with no hackery

I have a use for the 4-button thing and an i4. Would definitely like some North American compatibility with the hole in the wall. :)

Help us out Shelly! I spent a lot of time looking for momentary switches. I was disappointed because I found nothing I like as much as the Shelly version that won't fit my US boxes. 😢

I wonder why the manual says to connect both the L terminals to live when they are soldered together on the inside? I would think running live to just one of the L terminals should be plenty?
@digiblurDIY
@digiblurDIY Год назад
I guess they want more power feed across the terminals?

Thanks for the great video, especially the mountain biking at the end. I love biking and it was great to see you and your boy out shredding the single track. I wanted to ask you, is it possible to modify the firmware on the Shelly motion? I got one to play with, but my Home Assistant won’t recognize it. It saw it, when I first got it, but I think upgrading the firmware made it disappear; and, though I tried putting the older firmware back on it, it still won’t appear. Any ideas? I could send it to you, if you want to check it out.

Thanks! Love the biking trails here. Lots of fun especially for a mostly flat terrain region, this is a little gem. No, I don't think it is ESP based given the info they have on their website for specs on it.

You can use OTA Tasmota flash on shelly now.

OTA is cool if the relay is already installed and mains powered but I prefer to flash via serial on my bench and prepare the relay this way before actual instalation.

Did you get the pinouts for the power monitoring stuff? Got mine today and ofc put ESPHome on it, but lacking the power monitoring for now.
@digiblurDIY
@digiblurDIY 2 года назад
Negative. No word received on it. Time to get the solder wick out. I did look at the firmware dump and saw references to the same chip in the previous Shelly 2.5 so support shouid he fine as long as the IDF feature set in Esphome includes that.

@@digiblurDIY Yes, I disassembled mine today an there is an ADE7953 on it (as on the Shelly 2.5). Did you find out the pins so far?

I am building a new house in Europe. Do you think Shelly is the best switches/relays to use for my smart home?
@digiblurDIY
@digiblurDIY 2 года назад
They are very popular there from what I've seen as they are more geared towards that standard. If the switches fit and all I don't see why not unless you can find some others that you like that are capable of the same thing.

@jmr
@jmr 2 года назад
No.... Not that I've seen.
@digiblurDIY

Shelly has some din rail stuff but mixing low voltage and mains on switches is a careful dance and not many can do it so it gets difficult to find products like this. Zigbee and Zwave are other choices. With that said I have two access points handling 130 devices without issue.
@alexgill2154
@alexgill2154 2 года назад
@@jmr to also add, was thinking too about too much Wifi in the air, and that conversation can go into many tangents. Regardless, to mitigate it and reduce traffic to a minimum I'm guessing could perhaps be tried by creating a VLAN and SSID just for the wireless relay traffic, and with Tasmota, it can be further tuned to not broadcast too much by sticking to lean MQTT communications -- which would be a drop in the bucket. Easier written than done :-)
@jmr
@jmr 2 года назад
@@alexgill2154 I like to keep WiFi traffic to a minimum myself by wiring everything I can. This is one area that wasn't feasible for me. I look forward to the new WiFi standard made for IOT. It should increase range and decrease unnecessary traffic for IOT devices.
@Akcd11r2002
@Akcd11r2002 2 года назад
@@alexgill2154 I have all my IoT stuff on its own vlan/ssid and i watch it like a hawk on my ASA. I deploy Cisco/Meraki wifi all day long. As time goes on, i'm just not big on wifi for everything, especially with the studies coming out of Europe these days showing that wifi and cellular is harmful to honey bees -of which, my neighbor has 10 hives and we at least a gallon from him each year. It would be great to see some wall switches that can be run over cat5.
