Nice use of that 6sp transmission 😉🙂 Allways love the variety of machinery at hill climbs and the regs that allow just the right amount of modifications for true classic cars without them becoming 100k+ thinly disguised racers. For that we have mod sport or even sports libra for the truly mad or Nick Mann😂😂😂 Legend

Always enjoy your videos, thanks. Looks to be a very well sorted car, something to strive for with my own TR. Cheers

Thanks John very kind words. i think this time i have just gone too low for practical road use by removing the front spring spacer- so more spannering to do.

Great stuff Hamish, enjoyed that. Looks a very unforgiving track indeed, as the lost wheel suggest!

Thanks. i think the greasy track caught quite a few out that day and the track is unforgiving, hence my hesitancy and 1.3second off my PB

You reckon YOOU could have had 40 winks? I reckon the marshals were having a good 80 by the time the green light as given, mate! Jeez! I'd have been a bit nervous about that first corner and all, after sitting that long. The first run up the hill you could definitely see where the water had been sitting on the track and eeking out from the clay banks on either side. There's a horrible change in camber on that last right hander before climbing the hill to the flag too - perfect place for clay-filled water to catch out the unwary and put them in a bank. Many years ago, I had a lovely 720 spin from clay water on one track myself. I was certainly sitting a lot higher in my seat when I finally got my little Alfa Sprint back on track, I tell you! Doing a tail-lead 720 at any speed is frightening, but it was on the first lap and I was third in the queue of seven and took a slightly different line to come out wide on the straight. Ended up a lot wider than I was expecting because she slid, so buttoned off a touch to bring the back around - and left the track backwards and waltzed in circles alongside it for 100 metres or so without hitting anyone fortunately.....or the tyre barriers. Just the mess in my overalls to sort out when I got back to the pits. Half-warm slicks and clay-infused water aren't the best of friends and certainly not at the best part of 60mph! There were some lovely cars at that meet of yours though. However, the Triumphs were my favourites....but I'm not biased in any way! I did like the look of the couple of Elans there though....

You certainly notice the fine detail Lance. Great observation. Don’t think I’ve ever got fast enough for a 360 let alone more !!! Great memories now though 😁

@@HamishRacing - Cold tyres and short wet grass accentuated the speed and the final 180 snapped around so fast that the car basically stopped and I was worried I wouldn't get enough purchase to get off there, but I'd found THE dry patch, which was why there was an abrupt end to The Blue Danube (visualise Alfa slowly turning in circles at speed to the music, then the needle being dragged quickly across the record as I stopped in the final quick pirouette). It's scary being basically a passenger in your own car while it does its thing, but yes, memories are certainly great to be able to recall with a bit of humour 30+ years after the fact!

What did you do to the steering column to modernize it a bit?? I just inherited a 1960 TR3a and bringing the steering into the modern world is top of my list!

Hi I have only changed the steering wheel the rest of the steering is the traditional steering box. Many convert to a steering rack though. Kits are available A great site for info is this club forum www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php
