In this Sheraton Manila hotel tour we show you around the lounge, the pool and the room. I rate the property as a 4.7 out of 5 stars. The hotel and casino area used to be called Resorts World but is now called Newport Mall. Sheraton is apart if Marriot Bonvoy.

I'd go there just for the pool and outdoor showers...The food looks GREAT! Being so close to the airport, they've done an amazing job with the layout, dining, club view, and what looks like a garden on roof of the gym? Upscaled spacious room with a view of the flight deck. This place is fit for the King's Regiment.

Yeah so many rules here in Philippines that don't make any sense to me either not just at hotels but airports as well. That's just how the Philippines works in some ways. Nice hotel tour 👍👍😎😎🆒🆒

Normally I would agree with you (and I am a Filipino myself). But in the situation described by the OP, it is understandably for security purposes. I hope you don‘t get into a situation where you encounter an incident and a CCTV footage could not help you because you are OK with hotel guests around you wearing caps and shades…

Great review thank you. Just curious what type of security is at the door? If you want to bring a friend you just met up to your room will they say no to that? Maybe luxury and comfort is not worth the drama.

There is security at the door just making sure you don’t have any weapons only checking for that

Hello @Island Hopper TV Hotels. Thank you for creating thia video. I am a Filipino based overseas and has plans to visit back later this year. Because of it‘s proximity to the airport, I too booked a room there for the last few days of my trip. I can understand your frustration with the rules. But let me give you some context. The mask VS cap and shade, if was not explained to you, is like comparing health and fashion accessories. The former benefits everyone, while the latter only „benefits“ you (if at all). Now, if you thought that was strict, when you went to their restaurant, you are actually not supposed to just walk in and video the food as if you were a food inspector. The receptionist at the entrance was just too polite to chastise you while you were recording. So you see, my point is, you may find the rules strict, but I hope you appreciate how warm and friendly the staff had been to you. There is a reason why Filipinos are almost always hired in Guest Relations positions and in services for F&B Businesses globally.

Yes of course I am aware that many of the staff are warm and friendly. As you can notice by the channel I have been to 87 countries so yes I have noticed Filipino have a large OFW population. Actually in Philippines it is very common for people to use their cell phone everywhere. In fact OFW in Singapore and Hong Kong for example can be seen filming and recording everywhere especially on Sunday the most common off day. People film food all the time they also film pools and lobbies with their cell phones. This very common and I am certain you are also aware of this?
@Tsumabukis
@Tsumabukis 2 месяца назад
@@IslandHopperTVHotelsyes, I am aware that filming everything is the norm now. Used to be for sharing the experience with friends and relatives. Then it „evolved“ into having something to be posted on a social media profile for the likes. And now in its current iteration it‘s for monetization of content. Good for you if that works for you. But it isn‘t happening just in the PH, right? People all over the world are doing the same. So, not sure I get your point about mentioning OFWs (and specifically in HK and Singapore) filming their activities on the weekend, though… (I do hope it’s not because I mentioned that I am based overseas and that that must mean I am an OFW…)

Going back to my original post, I was merely contrasting your reaction to the security at their casino with how you were not reprimanded for just walking in to their restaurant without even stopping your recording since you had no plans of eating during that time…? 👍🏻 If you did ask off-cam and did have a meal off-cam, then my apologies for the confusion. (And again, good for you!)

@@Tsumabukis Okay and I hear you. No problem. Although I would not recommend hotels get in the habit of reprimanding guests. Thats no way to treat a guest. And trust me I have stayed and hundreds of hotels with Marriott and Hilton and Hyatt and this stuff only happened in Manila. Never anywhere else. Does it make more sense now why I remarked on it. This was an anomaly and not a common occurrence globally and internationally just this one particular property. Now to their defense from what I understand this was the sight where there was a mass shooting a few years ago. To which I did not know about until a person on this video told me about it.

@@IslandHopperTVHotels Not to belabor the point and definitely not to prolong the conversation further, but let‘s take your video of your stay at the JW Marriott in Singapore, as an example. I noticed that upon reaching the entrance of their Executive Lounge, you cut your recording and resumed only after you got inside. You didn‘t show how you just walked in while filming and with receptionist just letting you. Furthermore, in the part that you went to their Spa, the receptionist did her job by politely asking you if you need assistance. You stopped after being shown the price list and did not film the rest of the area. So, again, not sure what you mean when you say that what happened at Sheraton Manila is not the norm when in fact, that is the norm. I would love to go to the hotels where ypu said you just walked in willy-nilly into their amenities without being stopped or at least being asked.

The hotel complex got a history of some kind of crime scene a guy with a gun enter the hotel casino i believe and try to engage with the hotel employee and its visitor specially at the casino. So thats why they are kind of strict about it. And the hotel was rename/ rebrand to remove its negative past

The terrorist incident happened at the neighboring Marriott Hotel. This hotel just opened a few years ago. But yeah Sheraton is under Marriott and they’re all in the same compound so i guess security is absolutely beefed up.

@@IslandHopperTVHotels it's also a 3rd world country where a lot of hold up and robbery is compared to the west. they arent taking any chances. Poverty is everywhere and desperate people do desperate things
@IslandHopperTVHotels
@IslandHopperTVHotels 8 месяцев назад
@@peterhuang1431 Yes I do understand that. But even then they should still be able to tell the difference between a Hotel Guest clearly from a foreign country opposed to someone who is a likely a desperate person off the streets. Can we agree on that?
@peterhuang1431
@peterhuang1431 8 месяцев назад
@@IslandHopperTVHotels thats true and I agree. Although I can say as a foreigner since I look Chinese, many security is less strict on me like me going into a mall, they kinda just " watchever " search me and scan me while other filipino, they take their time sometimes. But of course, everyone is different in terms on how they view things. Sometimes I don't like it myself but end result is they're just doing their job and arent there to single us out. I'm also sure if their management or boss isnt too strict on them like being less strict to foreigners, Im sure they would as well. Jobs are hard to find when it's over populated too so they have to take it serious to feed their family I guess. At elast thats how I view it. It's annoying but it is what it is. They arent purposly trying to get us

Yeah rules are important if people can't respect the rules of places they go to then peopl are free to leave. Casinos need to see a full view of your face upon entering for security purposes. Having elite membership status doesn't mean a member has the freedom to do whatever he/she wants. Memberahip only gives you special benefits to enjoy the amenities of the hotel but still bounded the hotel's rules and policies. Westerners are just too spoiled wanting toomuch freedom wherever they go. Though I agree with customer service issues but at the same time I understand that Filipinos are not that assertive. They quite shy when speaking to a foreign national. They make sure respect is maintained at all times.

I would actually replace the word „assertive“ with „confrontational.“ We Filipinos (particularly the middle and upper class) are less confrontational. And in general, we are more happy-go-lucky as a nation. That is also why we have less mental health cases than most countries and considered by other nationals to be easier to work with.
