Pity I only found this vid now I am a professional designer of bespoke liveries and interiors for corporate and commercial aircraft and started by doing hundreds of light aircraft and Rc aircraft. I knew of Sheridan’s Mustang project. On the technical of your Old Crow, flashing landing lights not cool, particularly when your nav lights are not flashing. You have your wires crossed on that. Enjoyed the review and the sentimental aspect. Aviation is deeply sentimental

Hey that's hell of a story brother. I'm just glad you met such a good man to take you under his wing and mentor you into the good guy you are today. Glad you made it. As far as paint work I would definitely be careful with your choice of product. I would also recommend you coat the whole model with minwax Polly crilac before applying any color just to seal the foam from the paint. I would do a few coat's of that then Sand with 300 grit sandpaper and water. Then maybe apply your paint with a airbrush. Also you might practiceon a old plane you don't care if you screw up. I might be able toe help you. I bought it some time ago and also refinish the paint and art work. I used 3 methods. 1. Aluminum tape 2. Alcid paint. 3. Covering foil for balsa plane's The last one Wil give the best Finnish but is the hardest to apply. Alcid paint works great but you miss that shining Finnish. Tape needs a lot of care and after applyd it you Wil need to Finnish it with fine sand paper. I would do your painting with the plane apart. Better to put tape on shirt two or three times before sticking to suffice. I use Krylon Color Master paint & primer spray paint. Hold about 10 to 12” away. I tape as so as dry. Pull eze.

Hi there. I have this exact model and although it flys nice it won't last long. Everything held in place with those tiny screws will fall apart real soon. The wings etc will come loose and you can't re tighten. The tail section being the worded. You really need to clue this plane together. The landing gear will bend and snap off real quick if your not good at landing. The foam flaps start to bend and warp after a few uses. They need to be half the price for what they are. Just my opinion based on owning one.
I respectfully disagree with your generalization of the quality of the FW Old Crow. I have well over 100 flights on mine and have been extremely pleased with the quality of the model's components and construction. I haven't noticed any of the issues you mentioned-in fact, I think the tail section and wings are securely held in place. I prefer no glue because it is simple to replace damaged tail or other components when they are screwed together. Just another FW Old Crow owner/pilot's opinion-I love mine; it never fails to get a lot of attention at the club field; oh and it does fly nice. Just when landing, go for the 2-point wheel landings, then fly the tail down. Doesn't like the 3-point on pavement. Dave Brown tailwheel is highly recommended for pavement ops. It grabs the rwy surface instead of sliding. BTW, most reviewers who compared the FW to the FMS P-51s say the quality of the FW components are superior. Just sayin.
