Could you show us what dog food you feed Jimmy? I would love to know that

Yes, I agree with you; your reasoning is excellent: The obedience training is intended to create an environment that allows the dog to successfully EXPRESS IT'S NATURAL BEHAVIOURS but in a way that does not clash or conflict with human environments and requirements. In effect creating a successful, equal partnership between animal and human. I was very happy only the other day: I saw a Shiba Inu off lead in the park! I said well done to the owners who instantly showed me a recall of their dog. They said in their opinion it is a myth that Shibas are "impossible" to train off lead: It requires a lot of commitment early on, then the Shiba can EXPRESS it's full behaviour in the park. The clip of Jimmy by the stream was so wonderful because you can see how engaged his full senses are! He is able to be himself with his owner and in his mind he is roving with his pack doing what comes naturally to dogs. I think Shibas are harder to train than some other breeds so the owner needs to learn a lot about training of behaviour and then consider if they can meet the needs of the Shiba: It has a strong "call of the wild" in this breed for example and then consider if it is the right fit for them based on it's behaviour needs as opposed to whimsical appearance. Jimmy was doing his best to be discrete and respectful while still expressing indirect interest in your food on the couch. This subtle communication is wonderful behaviour that humans needs to also show back to their Shibas imo.

Hi, thank you so much for the in depth analysis and truthful opinion. If every owner who owns a Shiba Inu is willing to spend some extra time each day to learn and train their dogs there should have no Shiba in shelter. Thank you again for the heartful comment 👍🏻

I have a 3 Year old Shiba named Kenji. At first, we thought, he wasn't one to be food motivated... then we found the right snacks for him. I don't think, he will ever walk obidiently at my side like other dogs, but we often unleash him on the field, where he can play and in 8/10 cases he even comes back imidiately when called. He is a good boy. Shibas are really weird and stubborn compared to other dog races, but they have so much personality and show you love in their way. But really: Patience is the key. Shibas are super smart. They know EXACTLY what you want. They are just thinking about: It it more important for them than what they want to do?

Hi Aaron, first of all, congratulations! It is impossible to have a “short” recommendations but here are some key points: be prepared to spend more time in the first few months, be firm on your rule, exercise your puppy fully everyday, desensitize him/her early on and start training on day one. I have a lot of training videos on this channel, check out the playlist here - ru-vid.com/group/PLYagEnH2NyM9iWfSH6XJxWjal_NEnFzs9 Most importantly, enjoy the journey!

Hi, I have never had a dog before and I really want a shiba inu, would you recommend it for 1st time owners?
@SuperShiba
@SuperShiba 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for the comment and welcome to the channel. While most people don’t recommend having Shiba Inu as the first dog due to their hard to train and stubborn nature. I think as long as you do your research and know what you are getting yourself into before you buy, you can certainly be a successful first time Shiba Inu owner. If you have not already, check out this playlist that talks about this unique breed so you have a good idea of their personality - ru-vid.com/group/PLYagEnH2NyM9PmuO22MdVWW24wXOSjrud Good luck!
