One thing that never seems to be mentioned is that the small part of the shield needs to be fitted into the bigger part before pushing the shield into the wall.

i have a boxing bag bracket to hang up outside to house brick wall. i was recomended M8 80mm hex nut shield anchor. . What drill bit will i need for size M8 and are these ok or do you recomend different. needs to be solid on wall for heavy punch bag. Thanks

I followed the instructions on my packet (M6x70 shield anchor bolt type), drilling a 12mm hole to 70mm into the centre of the brick but the shield won't hold and doesn't appear to expand when you insert the bolt. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

There is a small wedge piece at the end of the shield, the bolt screws into thos and pulls it into the shirld, causong the expansion. Is that seated correctly? Try tightening one outside the wall so you can see the action for yourself

@@matthewsenior2909 Sorry for the late reply but I've only just seen your message. The bolt just goes all the way down the shield and sticks out the end by about 1cm. Nothing seems to be pulling the wedge piece up into the bolt to cause it to tighten. I'm thinking of using some Resin to fix the shield into the hole. I should say that the bricks are a bit crumbly.

Hard to say without seeing it. If the wedge isnt clipped into the shield it may not wind in

.I have got an iron wine rack x2 each hold 12 bottle. I have bought Hex Bolt Sleeve Concrete Anchor, M6 x 8 x 65mm x4 do you think they will do the job? Or is there something else that you could recommend ? Thank you Sonya
