The Glock 19x was amazing. Then they dropped the 43x & 48. They might have dropped the 3 best carry 9mms on the market right there lol. The 42 was also great if you want a .380. It's one of the best .380s I've ever fired.
I'm still holding out until some extensive long term reviews come out. The 43x is my main carry, so 100% reliability is my biggest concern. The S15 is a game changer though. Edit. I've made the switch to S15 mags and their mag release. No issues in over a year of carry.
Friend of mine has the Glock 48 he uses stock mags and a stock mag release he carries the S15 as a backup magazine he's done this for 2 years with no issues. When we go to the range he does a mag dump with both stock and S15 mags they run flawlessly.
Maybe you'll see this, maybe you wont, but are you still using those S15's to this day? Have you had any issues? I've been holding out on getting them.
I now have 4 of these, and they all ran fine first time out at the range. Might get a couple more at this point because well 15 rounds is better than 10.
I bought 3 and they all rattle after loading past the 10th position. Really bad too. I wouldn’t buy them again. Not worth it. The stock setup is better.
I ran them through an off duty qualification last week in my G48 and in my ghetto G43x (43 slide on 48 frame) and they were flawless. They have been 100% reliable for me and I highly recommend them. Another plus is shield arms shows love to us law enforcement/military folks. Great review sootch00!
Seriously isn't a 43x slide on a 48 frame a 43x ? My son has a 43 that I have been carrying I bought a 43x for the full grip before S15 mags. Since the 43 and 43x slides are the same I am kicking myself in the ass for not buy a 48 instead of 43X cuz I could of put 43 slide on 48 frame and essentially had all 3 for 2
Shield Arms Magazine Dimensions Are Not Flush To The Inside Magazine Well Of The Glock Pistol, Causing The Rounds To Land Underneath, Which Cannot Be Stripped From The Magazine As The Slide Releases POOR QUALITY CONTROL OF MANUFACTURE AND WRONG DIMENSIONS [TRASH] Im Staying With Glock Magazines
I carry a G48 with the Shield S15 Mag and mag release plus one spare S15 as a backup on my belt. I couldn't be happier with the mags, the mag release from Shield and the new and improved G48. I also love the G48's new and improved ejection pattern. It fires those brass cases out like a champ! And unlike all the Glocks of old. Thanks to Glock for improving that aspect of their new guns.
@@5jjt Hey Justin, they've been flawless. Granted, I haven't been very hard on them since I have cut my shooting back quite a bit over the last couple of years. It's just been too expensive to shoot as much as I used to. But, they've been great, no issues or complaints.
@@jakelake4312 Hi Jake, couple of things, first still no malfunctions. I even, at one point, got 3 or 4 of the Gen 2's to carry. So from my experience, no issues whatsoever. But having said that, I recently went back to the stock setup for the G48 and am carrying the 10 round factory mags. That has much less to do with the mags and the stories from some people, and more to do with the whole notion that if I ever have to use it in a shooting, there are less questions raised if it's a stock gun with factory setup. So I just carry a second 10 rounder as backup instead of the one extra Shield 15 rounder. Same amount of rounds on hand.
I'm on the fence on whether to jump all in on these for my 43x, but I just might have to. 15 rounds in that package truly makes the G43x a world class carry option.
I have a 48 but im still not convinced on concealed carry because the grip length is still just a tad too long and wide for my liking... will stick to my 365xl for now although i love the glock feel..
@@johngolden9074 similar but the grip sizes are totally different. The sig has a much smaller grip whereas the 43x/48 fills the hand better, for me at least
Bought 2 of these magazines and the Shield Arms aluminum mag catch/release in March, 2020. Ordered on-line on Tuesday, Shield Arms shipped them 2 days later on Thursday, delivered on Saturday. 4 days from order to deliver. Couldn’t be happier. Mag catch/release spring was a little tricky to get out but a long, thin, straight edge screwdriver took care of it. Once out, the installation of the Shield Arms mag catch/release and spring took less than 1 minute. Thanks Shield Arms.
Shield Arms is taking back orders. I had issues with one sticking in my G43X and have a vid resolving the issue if anyone else runs into it with the first gen of the 43X. For those with the lockback issue, contact Shield Arms for a stronger spring. These mags are a GAME CHANGER!
The magazines are a game changer, once the buying spree slows down, I'll order some. I actually lost my 43x to my wife, so she will enjoy them lol. I generally carry a gen5 26..
Awesome post Sootch!....Picked up my Shield Arms Hi-Cap mags for my off duty 43x couple weeks ago, had a qual shoot this past Wednesday.....So pleased with my 43x and shield Arms S15 Mags...Definitely a game changer.
It's great that these are working so well for most of you. I had a different experience: I have issues with them in 2 different pistols (Gen 2 and using the gen 2 Shield Arms mag release). My issues are that the last round hold open often doesn't work & they randomly drop down (mag catch disengages) so they don't feed. Just sent them back to Shield Arms and they said they "are within specs and work in our pistols". Seems that most have no issues, but about 20% do have problems-many that can't be resolved. I now have 4 of them and 2 mag releases that they won't take back, even though 2 are new and in the original plastic. Sure wish they would work for me but sadly, they don't.
I’m looking for the 15 round magazine. I took my G43x to the range for the first time. That is the sweetest gun I’ve shot yet! Very comfortable in my hands and is a smooth shooter!
This magazine just sold me on a single stack Glock. I just bought a g48 in all black, places my order with shield for 4 mags and the $25 dollar aluminum mag release. Thanks Sootch!
When we had Glock range days at our local range, I asked the Glock reps why they had not come out with higher capacity mags for the 43x and 48.....their answer was .."because we wanted to make sure they actually worked"....maybe the issue with the magazine catch wearing out was something they encountered as well?
I just picked up the G48 last week and it's now my edc. I found out about these mags the same day I bought the G48 and immediately went to their site to register to receive emails upon availability. Indeed this magazine is a game changer, just hope I can pick one up soon.
Got my mags recently...running them in relatively new glocks...be advised, the 100 Grain Critical defense 9mm rounds may not chamber right out of these mags, as the feed lips on the Shield mags are shorter than the Glock mags, and the Critical Defense rounds, as described, are a very short standing round....your results may vary
I prefer the G19 as it also accepts Glock's 24 and 33 round magazines and has an accessory mount for lights/lasers, though if the G19 grip is too large for you the G43x/G28 makes sense (but needs a metal mag release to prevent wear with these metal magazines). Don't like the P365 due to design/QC issues.
I bought the G43X then bought a G43 frame only. Swap slides and I have two pistols for short money. Love the G43X. Glad you made this video. I've seen lots of complaints with the S15 mags. Just gotta find some now.
@@Pressingontoperfection The G43X and G43 slide are the same. So buying just a G43 frame and a G43X frame , swapping slides, could save you money! Stay safe.
There is a backorder link on the site. I had to buy mine on backorder, but only had to wait about a week to get mine. Even though I had the 'email me when back in stock', they would always be gone before I could grab any. I'm still waiting to get my new magazine catch that I ordered separately.
Raymond Clark okay so I’m sorry for the silly question, just want to make sure I’m understanding this, if I’m going to order this magazine for my Glock 43x or 48, then I will also need or should order the metal mag release? Can I do with out it or is it something you recommend and I might as well order, because if that’s the case then I don’t have a problem at all doing that.
Best video on this set up yet. Lots of good comparative data points. The warranty of the springs is really cool. I have never heard of anyone doing that before. I also thought it was really interesting that the S15 mags weight the same as the factory GLOCK 10 rounders. Good work and thank you!
I got these months ago. Love them and if you buy the edc kit they offer with three mags two extensions it comes with the mag release too. They took a long time to get and I preordered but it says a lot about their company that the first shipment was refused by them because the finish on the mags wasn’t correct. They care about qc. I’ll be a shield customer for a long time when I need something they sell.
The reason I passed on thes 48 and 43x was because of capacity. If these mags hold up over time I may have a to look into getting both. Also the idea that a 43x or 48 would have the same capacity as my Cz P09 is definitely something I am very interested in.
I have the older stainless 43X model. I got the Shield Gen 2 mags and never got a chance to shoot. I inserted and dropped my mag several times because of excitement. Well, my polymer mags would no longer catch. Had no choice but to change the mag catch to the shield aluminum catch before ever firing a round through it. Very happy with the Shield mags!
So you’re telling me that now i can carry my glock 43x and have literally the exact same capacity as my 19? I just ordered the 3 pack with mag release. Thanks for the video.
I have 10 of these mags now. 5 for my 43x and 5 for my 48. My 48 is my edc with a tlr-6 on it and now the S15 mags? It's my do all gun now. Well done Shield Arms! Well done! Or as we said in the Navy, Bravo Zulu!
Just tested my 2 new shield arms magazines in my 43x today at the range , using federal 115 fmj and speer gold dot 124+p..FLAWLESS .. Thanks for the video, sir.
Great overview , review and function example . I actually installed my Shield Arms steel mag catch today on a new G43X , and ordered a second mag after checking the function . Thanks for your professional overview and recommend on USCCA , I’ve been a member since I first came across them . A great family . Looking forward to running this downrange ! God bless America 🇺🇸 ! Long live the Republic ! God,Family&Country🇺🇸 ! Semper Fi
Mine work perfectly in my Glock 43X. They sent my mags first and I had to wait a week to get my mag release because of the popularity of these mags. This is a game changer for the perfect concealed carry system, Glock 43X and the Alien inside the waist holster.
@@meck2658 I actually got 4 because a guy I know tiped me off the time they’d be for sale on agency arms literally bought them with in 10 seconds of them being put up
I had a few issues with mine. I didn't want to marry the magazines upon first testing by ordering the metal mag catch that allegedly tears up glock factory mags. Within the first 6 dozen rounds i had two malfunctions. Have the mag to someone else. I shouldn't have to buy a company's product to make that company's main product work. We're sticking with glock factory mags until these things get a better reputation. Many instances if failure in my comment section.
Bought two of em for my g48 and the aluminum catch. Took it to the range, several malfunctions, two failures to feed and multiple failures to lock open. I bought the 10% power springs for them and have yet to try them out, hopefully that solves the issue.
I'll bet you have an earlier silver slide model of the 43x or 48, just like mine (48). I added the +10% springs and they seem to fix these same issues. I now have 6 of the S15 mags with +10% springs. Three have been proven just fine so far.
Shield Arms advised different spec tolerance between older 1st generation silver slide 43x and and newer black slide 43x. A stronger mag spring needed for older silver style slide glock 43x to prevent malfunctions. They have good customer service and are sending me two stronger springs. I had numerous malfunctions even with the new metal mag release installed.
Just got one in the mail today for my wife’s 43x. Easy to load? With the loader perhaps. I work with my hands for a living. And it was a challenge to get all 15 rounds in there. I’m sure it will become easier over time. But I’ll finally be investing in a loader. It’s an overdue purchase anyway.
I got 2 questions: 1) will it fit and feed in my g43 2) if the metal mags wear out a polymer release, won't a metal release wear out a polymer magazine? Maybe not as fast but eventually?
My wife now carries my p365. With the 12 round magazine. With 15 rounds the glock43x deserves a look. They should consider a 10 or 12 round magazine for the original Glock 43.
Not a glock fan but, they make very dependable handguns. I like American made but, I do have a few G2C'S and a G3. I also have a CZ 75B. In my opinion, CZ is superior! Thanks Brother. Keep up the awesome reviews! Stay Safe and GOD Bless!🙏🇺🇸 Long Live the REPUBLIC 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I’ll wait until people have put a few thousand rounds through them. While Glock probably could have engineered theses to hold > 10, I think Glock has historically favored reliability and durability over some other factors. Glock mags are probably the most durable of all the major companies.
Put your name on the notification alert with Shield Arms. I just changed from Glock 19 to the Glock 48. With the S15 magazines that is a WINNING deal. Incredibly the 48 actually has a slightly longer barrel too. Glock sends a speed loader with little ribs inside to make up for the width from the 19 speed loader. It works great on the Shield Arms magazines too.
I think the g19 and 17 are doing fine at the moment maybe they should worry about the g43 right now. But I wouldn't mind some more rounds in any firearm😁😎
@@joelbellJB it wouldn't work, these are semi staggarded like 1.5 stack it wouldn't really work to do this style of magazine. A company called Torkmag using a dual string to fit more rounds in AR mags without increasing length.
Bress I’ve messed around with glock mags and the clear ets mag in my garage and you can definitely fit more in a factory 19 magazine. Only the bottom 10 rounds are double stacked, if the wells were thinner you’d be able to get more rounds double stacked further up the magazine. You can get about 3 maybe 4 extra rounds in there.
I have a G48 and love it even more with the S15 mags!!! Not a single problem with the 3 mags I bought!!!!!! Please make some for the G43 !!!!!! Hint, hint, hint!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No issues with having the loaded mag putting pressure on the slide? Had similar issues with the MagPul 12rnd Mags for my G26. The 12th round put a lot of pressure on the slide & I wouldn't get that round in the barrel when I first fire it. Stopped using those mags immediately. Hoping this doesn't have the same issue.
Great job shield arms for fixing Glocks mess up. I was using Glocks for 20 years them the P365 series and the p320 x series came out. Let's just say Sig won my heart. They gave me a gun I did not have to upgrade for example, sights, trigger, and now a magazine for a gun that should have been more.
@@freddobbs9435 It was complete Bullshit of Glock to not make 43X mags work in the standard G43. I always felt one of the best features of the Glock 26 was that you could use 17, 19 and even 33rd extendos in the SAME GUN. Now if I want more rounds in the G43, I have to get a NEW GUN or go aftermarket mags/extendos??? Glock is either the most short sighted company or the most devious!
alwong604 this s15 mag was able to be produced because the 43x/48 have wider grips allowing for more ammo. A 43 with an extended mag would be way longer than a 43x if it was 10 or even 15 rounds
@@sneak916 I know Glock had to make the frame a hair wider to fit the ten round mag. I find perplexing that they could not see the light at the end of the tunnel and make the g43 a hair wider to begin with... think about it. The original glock17 gave rise to the the G19 and later the G26. Magazine modularity is partially responsible for glock to dominate the CCW market. If the G26 could not use the mags of it's bigger brother would it be as popular? Possibly, but no one can deny that it's not a selling feature. Hell we have guys who chop the grip down on their 17/19 to fit 26mags. Coming back to 43, let's say for shits & giggles that the g48 was introduced first. 10rds slim profile. 1year later the g43 comes out. Shorter grip but only 6rds. NO way that if the releases were reversed that this new g43 would not be ready to use g48 mags. Factory extendo as it were. Glock was either stupidly shortsighted or they just wanted to sell us another fucking gun. How many of you want to bet that glock will release a G43Z (G49? G43 gen6?) with the same two finger short grip but make it just a hair wider to accept G48 10rd mags? That would give you the TRUE successor to the G26!
Emailed the company April 16 2020 in regards to if they would be applying their technology to the Glock 43 to squeeze more rounds in it. Just got a response today "Sure are! In the works now." So to all with the 43, be on the lookout for higher capacity in the 43 which would be amazing for such a small pistol!
👍 again. Thanks for the after market review to convince me to get G43X. If I can ever get 9mm ammo again... Cheaply I will have a mag that holds enough.
So, enlighten me. Spend 45.00 each for 5 more rounds. THEN, spend 25.00 for a new metal mag release, as the new mags accelerate wear on OEM release. Won't the improved mag release, being metal, wear out the OEM mags faster? Then, you're locked in to 45.00/mag from now on. Or do I worry too much? I usually maintain 5 mags at least per pistol. So. 275.00 for 5 mags and one release, (+/-), that will possibly lock you into using only Shield products? Thoughts?
They need to do this for the glock 42. The 42 sells more at my shop then any other glock for woman. If they can do this for the glock 42 up it to 10 or 12 rounds flush fit it would be an amazing seller.
3) gen2 S15 mags here in a gen5 G48. Lots of f2f issues turned into correspondence with SA. Here’s their actual 2/20/23 response: “We have noticed since our mags rest a bit further back than the OEM they reveal issues in the slide much quicker than OEM mags.” In other words, “our product doesn’t work well for it’s intended use, but it’s not our fault.”
Matt Tripp I paid up front on the waiting list. It shipped the same day for the mag release. I’m not sure if I was just lucky that they got a shipment, but I would pay up front and it will ship when they get one in stock.
Matt Tripp I reread your comment, and I think it’s because they are waiting to send you your mags along with the mag release. I picked up 2 mags before I ordered the mag release and that’s probably why they were able to send me the mag release so quickly. Good luck!
Do these S15 round mags fit the 43 as well? It would have been useful to mention that in either case because you did mention the slides are interchangeable. Great video! Thanks!
Shield will never have them back in stock now lol. I have been trying to get some since they came out, get the notice they are back in stock but they are already gone.
Problem is they go in shock and then out if stock and on back order within the same day many times literally within hours U can also try Brownell's they take back orders too got 2 of mine through them in under 2 weeks from back order
After swapping into S15 parts, the 15rnd mag needs a firm push to click into place, unlike the OEM mags. And now, with a metal mag release, I can't use my two OEM mags without them getting tore up. I can barely even remove them after inserted. The 13th, 14th, and 15th rounds of the S15 couldn't possibly be inserted without a loading tool. I'm really not sure this was worth it, but bigger is always better, right? Looks like I gotta pull out the files and grind off some material..
@@DS..69 Maybe for you. Different strokes for different folks. I have eleven Sig pistols. Most are older model P series...actually, all of them except three, are. My last three (key word being last) brand new Sig pistols, all at $1k or more, either arrived broken or broke with less than 500 rd thru them. All MIM parts failures. I have 16 Glock pistols. None of them have ever broken, or failed to fire. I shoot 12k-14k rd a year. Sig used to be a quality product...used to be. I wouldn’t take a 365 if it were given to me. Well, yes I would. I could sell it immediately and buy something else worth having. I’m not a Sig basher...just a new production Sig basher. I’ve got plenty of S&W guns. Both revolvers and semi autos. No problem with them either. But the shield and M&P line never felt right in my hands. Different strokes...
@@craigp187 Got you beat. I have 3 Sigs. Old West German made Sigs. 226, 230, and 2022. All with over 6 to 7k rounds through them. Never had a issue with any of them. I carry the 2022 off duty as well as a Glick 23. The SIG eats anything. The Glick, had stove piping until I put about 200 rounds through it. No such issues with my Sigs. Glicks are good. But my Sigs are better. Hope to try a SnW soon. I know a lot of Cops who have switched to them over Glock. Fact is, everyone else caught up to them in the striker fired game. There are just better options out there now. I say, carry what your comfortable with.
@@DS..69 Got me beat?? How? Number of guns? Rounds fired? How? In addition to thousands of rounds of factory ammo fired, I’ve hand loaded over 150k in the past 10 years. I’m not in any competition with anyone on that subject. I just have a whole lot of rounds thru a bunch of different guns. Well over 200k combined. I agree, the older Sigs are great. I have one (for now, I hope to add to that number) old W. German gun. The best combat guns ever, maybe. But the new Sig production and quality control is not living up to the old Sig reputation. Their new stuff is junk, nowhere near worth what they are asking for them. But to be fair, a lot of their prices on the (slowly disappearing) P series have come down a bit in recent years. But my last three were $1k and above. Three consecutive purchases, in 4 months, all broken MIM junk. Very little chance of convincing me otherwise, concerning new production Sig products. As far as others catching up to Glock, it’s about time, don’t you think. So now what? They caught up. Not worth bragging about anyone taking 25 years to catch up. Glocks are not perfection. But they are awfully close.
Drew Farmer are u sure about that? I don’t see how they would ruin it? The mag can ruin the mag release because the mag has a sharp edge, but the mag release isn’t sharp.
