If the owner can't do something as simple as combing or brushing their baby to prevent painful knots .they should give them to someone who lovingly can.😢

When you want to remove a mat. Begin at the end of the mat. And work your way up. Because if you start at the top as you brush down the mat is getting worse. So begin at the end with small strokes and continue upward until you get to the base of the mat. Also, a safari dematting tool works great. I was a hairdresser and that's how I removed it on humans because we can't just cut them out. Lol. I'm a groomer now and I use all my hair dressing techniques with dogs. I love watching your videos. I like how calm and sweet you are to the dogs. Thank you😊

I didn't know about the gland on the tail. I've always taken him to the groomers before. But I lost my job and only a month after I got a car so I'm trying to conserve money and my poor dog is suffering with my grooming 😆 omg the first two times were awful 😆

You did a great job grooming this beautiful little ShihTzu! The tail looks like a Pom Pom. I have two female Shih Tzus and our groomer does a great job at grooming them. I love Shih Tzus! Helene❤

I was taught not to wet matts as the knot tightens ? .

If the dog is washed over and over and not dried properly then yes the knots will tighten. When you wash the dog first and then use a high velocity dryer, it loosen the mats and makes it easier to brush them out or clip them out as the force of the dryer loosens the mats from the skin which means you can get a blade under the mats easier and leaving the coat longer. Never brush a dirty dog, especially on sensitive skin areas as it can cause skin problems. Overall it's always best to wash first. Clean mats come out easier than dirty mats and working with clean hair is healthier for your lungs.

The owner likes it short. It's much easier to care for. I have clipped some even shorter. It's there preference.

@@LoveofGrooming I like my shitzu/bichon mixes short. I have two. One has curly hair that is horrible so better short. The other is straighter so in the winter I leave it longer. They don't have the under coat and get really cold in the winter.
