Shaman Xeed You're definitely correct. I just meant this more as a broad statement. I feel like after the killer b vs sasuke fight it just didn't matter too much anymore.
Shikimaru: "Oh no a string.. that I can use to make her think it has a shadow, which is actually my shadow technique.. that I can use to distract to throw a shuriken at her, while she cant move.. that I can use as a distraction, to make her hit and knock herself out.. that will let me fight Temari in the next round.. whom I will marry. Yep Shikimaru was 100 steps ahead..
And alternatively, keep nothing where people place kunai, let him hold nothing to his neck while his foe holds his or her own blade there for interrogation.
*Shikamaru looks at Kin This is nice. But, *Looks at Temari I like that better Edit: dear fellow liker and commenter thanks for likes and comments. I posted this comment in my down and dull time of my life and now life's going pretty well. Stay Strong healthy and fit. Grow better and stronger everyday.
I think the reason why he bothered to toss the shuriken instead of leaning back outright was so her dive back would be stronger. People can resist the technique to varying degrees based on how strong they are, so her wanting to dodge back helped to minimize that risk and ensured she hit the wall with sufficient force.
it's also because he needs to let go of the jutsu before she hits her head or he would also feel the impact on the wall, as when Naruto hit Gaara under shadow posession Shikamaru felt the punch too, so it's not enough to force her to hang her head back, he has to make her think that it's the right thing to do.
When i was kids, i thought shikamaru's jutsu is a boring thing, as i grew up, then i realize how smart he is, make strategy against enemy with his boring jutsu
When Naruto was about deception, intelligence, tactical decisions, planned strategy - y’know, *real* ninjutsu and not “who can shoot the biggest laser” or “who has a bottomless reserve of chakra”
As I allways said there's plenty of strategy even after Naruto gets stronger. Naruto vs third Raikage Itachi and Sasuke vs Kabuto Gara vs fourth Kazekage The battle against reanimated Madara The allied forces trapping the Ten tails There's also the first battle from the war against Sasori, Deidara and Sai's brother. The battle against Kinkaku and Ginkaku And before the war started Both Naruto and Pain were op at that time yet the battle was amazing So was Sasuke vs Danzo Sasuke vs Killer B So did the bettles lose strategy as time went on? No Are people unable to see that the characters were still using clever tricks till the end because they are too busy complaining about ghe power levels? Yes Shippuden also had lots of great fights before everything went to the war. Sasuke vs Deidara Jiraya vs Pain Sasuke vs Itachi Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori Kakashi vs Pain Killer B vs Kissame
Ovidiu Sampalean see now, all you’ve really said is “they were great fights” but not once did you describe the strategy used in these fights. You can not deny that there was a significant shift from tactics taking prevalence to good choreography and flashy moves overshadowing the one “clever tricks” (which still weren’t enough to be called strategy) towards the end of Naruto. I mean, look at Kakashi Vs Obito, this is one of my favourite fights in the whole show because it does everything a fight should, for any other piece of media other than Naruto. There is investment and meaning there from the heavily documented relationship they have and the amazing choreography/fast animation, it’s amazing, but it was missing that signature Naruto personal touch of ninjutsu and strategy. I’ve never once in my life given a shit about “unfair power levels” and I don’t know what ghe means (I probably do but not in this abbreviation) and I love every fight in Naruto (except for maybe Jiraiya vs The 6 paths of Pain) I was just making a simple point that there was clear change in the way fights and the way characters thought about them happened.
@@Trashheapcuntspawn *sigh* I could describe in detail all the strategy and cleverness in each of these fights BUT IT WOULD TAKE A LOT OF TIME. And even if I did people would still claim that it doesn't compare to Shikamaru's floating jacket and stuff. Some examples, Sasuke hiding a fuuma shuriken in the shadow of a different fuma shuriken and having them both tied with strings in order to make them break and have the pieces hit Itachi after he eould dodge them. Him using the heat of his jutsu and Amateratsu to heat the atmosphrre in order to bring Kirin. Him using Orochimaru's special substitution to leave a fake body behind in order to trick Itachi. Itachi planting a trap for Obito in Sasuke's eye. Sasuke using genjutsu on Danzo to trick him into using all his Izanagis. Naruto using Pain's chackra absorbtion agaist him by making him absorb natural chackra and turn to stone. Naruto tricking one of the pain's to enter Gamabunta's mouth so his field of vision would be blocked from the other pain so he could deal a finishing blow. Hiding clones on myoboku mountain to store chackra for later use. Using smoke bombs in order to take away the common field of vision of the 6 Pain. Jiraya did similar strategies against the 6 Pain so no use looking into that more. Against the 3rd Raikage after the rasenshuriken failed in power Naruto realized the weaknes of his jutsu and used a regular rasengan to force 3rd to strike himself. Against Deidara Sasuke used his own sword to mark a spot without landmines where he could step and realized that his lightning style could neutralize the earth chackra from Deidara's clay. Deidara using clay clones to try and divert Sasuke while he actually was hiding into his clay animal. Sasuke using Orochimaru's snake to run away after realizing the explosion was going to be to great. The allied forces using Earth jutsu to trap the ten tails after using lightning ones to blind him, futher using fire and water and earth jutsus to entrap him into a cement like substance and wind to further use the steam and dust to block it's field of vision. The second hokage using the conection between all the allied forcesthrough Naruto s chackra in order to teleport them to safety whenever the ten tails had the chance to drain them while at the same time using Katsuya to heal them. ...
@@seekerundue no? Shikamaru obviously made a trap beforehand and led hidan there. Then he tricked Hidan by thinking he took Shikamaru's blood but instead stole Kakazu's. Then shikamaru just blew him up. Hidan was defeated but he wasn't exactly dead right after the the paper bomb Explosion. He died slowly. He only retains his immortality as long as he makes sacrifices to his god to which he couldn't because he was buried alive. It wasn't forced. This was at least expected of the Nara household.
Anyone else realized that Shikamaru could do a lot more after catching someone in his shadow if he just regularly kept a pair of kunais in a really odd place. Like, it's standard practice to keep kunais on the leg so when he traps someone and they both go for one, they both grab a kunai, but if he kept a kunai in his hair or something, he could just be the only one throwing it and not actually have to worry about getting hit.
May be short, but it was one of my favorite Naruto fights. Back when you had to use your head and tactical strategies to win, not some ancient bloodline trait or super giant chakra form power.
Shikamaru's fights are always some of the best and most fascinating to watch because of his intellect and creativity, Shikamaru actually prevails and wins with tactical knowledge and calculation...... and not through brute force, fancy and extravagant jutsus or endless inhumane endurance....
Back in the days, there was hardly someone with the best power. It was about how you used your ressources. Then it became who can shoot the most chakra at the other.
@@jasonmoukala8909 no, there weren't. Tactics are not the same as strategy, look at what happened in naruto vs Sasuke (the last one in Shippuden), there is no strategy, it's just a great movement choreography, where your biggest strategy is to use a big rassengan or a small rassengan, or to use the right eye or a megazord, it's like DBZ
fa -q- sasuke vs Itachi. Team 10 including kakashi vs hidan and kakazu. Sasuke and Itachi vs kabuto. Naruto, Kakashi and guy vs obito. Naruto, minato, sasuke and Tobirama vs obito. Sasuke vs deidara. Sakura and chiyo vs sasori, jiraya vs pain, Kakashi vs pain, Sasuke vs Danzo. Naruto and Sakura vs Kakashi. Gaara vs deidara. Shall I continue?
This was the Naruto I loved the most. The hand drawn animations, the 90’s style synths, and no giant Uchia Mechs it was all jutsu and fist fights. I wish the series had never gone down the path of aliens and planetary devastation style mechanics.
It's a bit like what happened with DBZ. Once you surpass someone who can destroy a planet, all bets are off. I think it's kind of funny how Naruto started from like "How can i get into ninja school" to "superpowered aliens are invading the planet... again..."
I feel bad for her and the other Sound genin in the Chuunin exam. Orochimaru murdered them and used their bodies for his reanimation jutsu against the third hokage.
Good old times when the action was more focused on outsmarting your enemy. I wont say they completely abandoned it but back then the characters had more natural limits to their power and needed to use these abilities in the most efficient way. But towards the end of the series it became much less relevant because the characters could either summon Kaijus, turn into them or get ridiculous power-ups that made them strong enough to take out gods. The first part of the show was more interesting because the characters weren't ridiculously overpowered. If I wanted to watch a series with characters that can obliterate entire cities with just one attack, I can watch DBZ instead.
The creator, Kishimoto, even admitted that he took a lot of inspiration from DBZ, but I get the feeling that he wanted to be too much like DBZ as the series progressed that he lost sight of what his series was originally about, which was stealth, strategy, and deception.
I thought they were a cool concept. But Orochimaru had no more use for them once he marked Sasuke. And a running theme is that when Orochimaru has no more use for you, you're done. He isn't the loyal type.
It’s a pity that we didn’t get the opportunity to see more ninjas from the Sound village… starting from the 1st series of Naruto almost every Ninja from this village was very strong (even genins) and their skills were not easy to be dealt with. Hhhh, to think that Orochimaru managed to build a whole village by himself… clever guy, one of my favs!
I think what makes some of these earlier fights so good is that they’re compared with the power creep later in the show. Strategy is still used in both, but most fights became more extravagant over time as the show focused on characters who predominantly increased in power. Sort of like how in DBZ it goes from Super Saiyan to many multiple levels of super saiyan, it feels less special even if the formula is the same.
Shikamaru represents what a ninja is supposed to be. Sneaky, intelligent, aware of their surroundings as well as use them to their advantage. Everything all those kids are not. Why he was the only one who graduated.
I thought it was appalling that Shino didn't graduate as well. His power is bugs that eat your chakra. So his things is to distract you long enough for the bugs to sneak in. He did that with both Zaku and Kankuro, without being to flashy. But of course his big fight took place in a forest, instead of in front of a judge. Something he laments after and during the fight. I think if he had his battle in front of a judge, he would've had a decent shot of graduating alongside Shikamaru. All the other genin used the exams as ways to hash out their emotional problems. And the only ones who didn't (and still won their fights) were Shikamaru and Shino.
Shikamaru's battles are always some of the most interesting ones because he doesn't have any overpowered jutsus or special inherited traits, just brains and strategy!
She was awesome. I loved her and her team tbh. They were very interesting characters as well as their abilities. I really wish her and her team had lived up until the end of the series or even made it as far as Boruto. That's how awesome they were.
Just watching scenes like this really gets through how much better naruto was than boruto. I’ve watched every boruto episode and nothing comes close to naruto.
The shuriken was just for show. I love that about this fight. He literally could have just made her hit her head on the wall without doing that. He was just trolling her.
I don't know... if he did she would at least try to resist and the impact would not be as hard. She was assured she was just mirroring him so she didn't even resist.
I liked Kin. I’m just sad she died in a way that if you weren’t paying attention, you wouldn’t have known what happened to her, like she disappeared or something.
This makes me realize how great Naruto was compared to Boruto. I know it's obvious, but I mean almost every 'appeared-one-time-only' characters from Chunin exams are more interesting than what Boruto had. Heck, they're even better than the side characters in Boruto NG.
I dropped Boruto after just watching the first 5 episodes i cant stand boruto and all the new side characters and how advanced the shinobi has becomed even the characters design are so lame and bland its like they all stole it from devianart.
@@gauban986 i made it to 100th episodes and i can report to you: sadly, it still is that bad. if i was the writer i would've done at least 5 times better.
That’s kinda what the Nara clan did actually, they generally stuck their weapon pouches in weird spots so that their enemy would mirror their movement and come up empty with a kunai in the face 🤣
Why does the OG fights hold up so well ?theses are still so good to watch.. btw i love how fast kin got knocked out lol .like she went to sleep in the middle of her thought lol its was hilarious
When i was really young everyone in my school watch Naruto, every girl falling in love with Sasuke but Im really like Shikamaru i think his really my style his really smart
Another way to make the jutsu better in this scene was to place his shuriken and kunai in another part of the body. That way she would not throw anything
Lol nah, the fact that she basically beat herself up was genius. If he just throws something at her it would be anti climatic and it would mean he hurt a girl..
Two things I noticed now that I'm more observant these days. 1 - Shikamaru was flexing with that ninja star. He didn't need to throw it if bending backwards was all he needed to do to bang her head on the wall 2 - He was being gentle with that head bang. The motion looked clumsy as if he intentionally didn't crack her head wide open by bending back too fast lol
When you think about it, all 3 of Orochimaru's genins were highly skilled. If they had normal teacher-pupil relationships and fought different opponents, they would have easily won.
One spring break while in college, I watched this entire series up through the Sasuke Retrieval arc, right before Shippuden came out that summer in 2007. Good times.
@@jasonmoukala8909 they have won a majority tho,I can name couple fights naruto lost,vs sasuke(twice) vs kimimaro, technically vs madara,vs kakashi in the 1st Bell training, and more etc,he still kinda busted
I personally think the hidden song ninja should’ve had more screen time because they had such cool designs and jutsus especially the guy with the tape on his face.
Esto era la esencia de Naruto realmente disfruté mucho de aquello, una lástima como terminó todo porque si seguía por este camino estaríamos hablando de un top 3 mejores animes de la historia.
I hate that when they transitioned into shippuden these characters were so severely watered down. The leaf ninja genin were no diffing everything walking, now a lot of times they can’t even compete because they don’t have senjutsu or some op dojutsu.
