@@ChewyThaoFishing nice thanks one more question I know it’s on the heavier side that doesn’t bother me but does it palm comfortably and is there a lot of play in the handle thanks in advance
What do you think about the 2022 Exsence DC? Thinking about getting that over the 2021 Antares DC. Like the darker look on the Exsence and its not a finger print magnet lol.
Thanks for watching and thanks for asking. I don’t have that reel so it’s hard to compare but looking at the features, it seems to be very identical in terms of the Shimano technology. Looking at the reels, I can confirm that they share the same body
@@ChewyThaoFishing Thanks! Looking forward to more of your videos. Im from wisconsin so just patiently waiting for the ice to melt. Been itching to go out.
I like them reels but they are so heavy that’s the problem it looks like the Calais CL200 back in the 1997 I have three of them they was heavy to I got a daiwa
Probably not. They have never introduced a dc version of the Chronarch. I believe the Chronarch will always remain with normal breaking system set ups like the infinity braking system
In terms of size and palming, how does it compare to curado DC, or other reels, ie curado BFS, latest version of mentanium, daiwa zillion and alphas. Was planning to get a SLX DC XT, in terms of DC technology, how much better is the Antares? Does it justify the extra money? Cant wait to get your opinions after you use the gears. Thanks for the recent uploads!
From my initial impressions, it palms very well. I can definitely say that it palms better than the zillion/steez as those reels are much wider in frame size. This is close to the metanium/bantam but i haven't found a reel that palms better than the bantam. In terms of DC technology in this reel, i haven't had a chance to use it but i will update you when i do and see how it compares to the antares a.
I have one also. I do love it. Just a bit heavy but the weight does help to balance longer rods. I have all the Antares reels including the original and the similar Exsence versions. I am guessing a newer model will maybe be out next year? Nice review as always. Thanks!
So I started having backlash after 4 months of use during initial 3rd- had flash lure fly off . Question, and it is silly , do you INCREASE THE EXTERNAL BREAKS FOR HEAVIER LURES AND DECREASE THEM FOR LIGHTER? I ALWAYS INCREASE BREAKS WHEN LURE WEIGHT INCREASES TO PREVENT BACKLASH ON ALL DAIWAS BUT IS IT THE OPPOSITE WITH ANTARES ?? Or should I tighten the tension knob with plastic lever?!
Thanks for watching! Rule of thumb is to increase braking when you use lighter lures. However, make sure you are dialing in your tension knob on the handle side. You want that lure to fall slow and steady - not too fast and not too slow. Hope this helps.
Wait , so lower ( minimum ) on lures that weigh more right ? So use up to number 4 ( half way out of eight) for heavy lures over one ounce or so and lighter lures go up to 6 or seven ? Just want to make sure lower breaks mean least amount of break applied ?. .. But on my Steez HLC if I lower I get huge backlash and snap lure so I go up on Daiwa 🤔, then away HLC is wild . I was good until recent issue with Anda DC . Having said that , I noticed a loop of line around spool deep down so maybe that's why . Thanks 🙏
Hello again , please any advice ? I cannot move the side tension knob no way with that flimsy plastic tool from Shimano, so I went inside other side and tried adjusting the center screw to the spool shaft ( by the breaks ) , no effect , I even took it all off and just put it back in place and tightened it as it was . So I lost another armajoint flash boost 190 , with breaks at at 3. Snaps off first third of cast with no remarkable overrun - nothing . I tried a 1/2 ounce , one and also 2 ounce spoons ( kastmaster) and NO Problem , flew forever . Do not sure why suddenly problem with armajoint ? Also no problem with the Megabass Gorham 147 . Maybe I'm trying to cast too hard ?
you want to tighten the spool just enough to stop the side to side play of the spool. that is how I set my 🦂 dc. check out reeltest channel on RU-vid he has a few videos that shows you how to set them up properly as well as casting battles so you know exactly the distance they cast.
