@TheReelTest. I speak for me. (Even though I bet everybody agrees) I appreciate all your time and money that you invest into your channel. Your channel is bar none the best!!Thank you!!!
Im nothing special, just a flawed man like you and everyone else. I just decided to make a channel doing reviews showing the things I would like to see and didnt see on other channels. But thanks!
The 150mgl has been on my 7'2" heavy Expride. It's been great for swimbaits & jigs. I now have the 70mgl on my 6'10" med Expride & it's soo nice. I love both reels.
I have both. My experience is, if you match your rod to your desired lure weight range, you won’t see much, if any difference. The rod, and how it loads with your bait, makes far more difference than the differences between these two reels. The biggest difference is line capacity. Honestly, I’ve never even came close to spooling my 70 reels casting anything.
Thanks for the review! My choice is definitely 70. When we catch pike in Russia, we use a PE braid. And the capacity of the spool will play a more important role..
You think they will release a new Aldebaran before long? I am sure you covered it, but I had seen talks and questions about it on the forums... A 6g-21g rating is quite heavy, that is a max of 3/4oz and low end of about 1/5oz. I haven't handled the rod so it might in fact feel like a ML, but that is borderline MH+ for most rod companies.
Really like the comparison! I have the mgl 150, but can't cast nearly as long as you did in this test with lures that light (it probably comes down to my technique as well). My question is how tight do you have the spool tension? And do you know what diameter your line is in mm? Thanks!
You said as far as “all around reel” the 150 is better. For a dedicated jerkbait setup, throwing 110 jerkbaits as well as weightless soft jerkbaits, do you still choose the 150 over the 70?
So for thrills and some frustration! While I wait for the Backordered BFS Curado to show up I thought to try the Crappie Maxx Baitcast reel.... Not sure there is much hope for this reel or if a shallow spool could fit or would help it...
Thanks a lot for your videos and tests. What would you recommend for crankbaits weighing from 5g (L-Minnow) to 20g (Rudra) - metanium 2020 or curado mgl 150 (if not compare the price)?
Hey, I’ve watched your vids and commented before- I was wondering how come you don’t have the Antares DC7, Antares 12, or other older models alike. Not that you “have” to have it but I’m just wondering if that makes sense!
@thereeltest first question when are we going to see some casting battles with the new Okuma baitcaster? Second where is the cool 3rd person drone View? It was great on the BFS and haven't seen it since
Hi can you tell what the minimum and maximum casting weight that the Curado has ? Because on the official shimano website I can‘t find any information about it. Thanks
Do you feel that the 150 MGL is the best all around; light lures and heavier lures bait caster in the $200 to $250 range ? Or do the MGL spools cater more to light lures ? Thanks !
Hello, @TheReelTest. I just bought the 150mgl reel( new). Is the drag star supposed to go in and out of the reel? it almost springs out. I own cheaper and older reels and they have no play on the drag star just a little in the handles. Thanks !
Sir, I'm seeking to make a purchase and want your expertise. I've had both the curado k and mgl. I'm considering the 150xg. I saltwater fish here in Ms. My technique and style is a qt oz jig head with a 3.5 inch paddle tails. Line mainly 12-15 flouro. Is the 150 really the best of both worlds or would you choose one over the other?
How do you know what the lure range is for a given baitcasting reel? For instance, is it safe to cast a 2 oz lure on an Antares DC? Can you cast a 6oz swim bait on an Antares DC MD? Thank you love your videos! God bless you, brother!
for the heavier stuff I just look at the line capacity. For the lighter stuff you have to find out the spool weight. The lighter spooled reels will cast lighter lures better.
Imo the 70 mgl is always a bit over break and spool is always slow somehow. Bad for long casting but good for pitching. If the 150mgl works simular to the met b mgl, it will be a long cast reel.
That’s what I was talking about one year ago if you love the world more than god God is not in you like fishing I am guilty about that I love fishing but you’re supposed to love the Lord more than you do Fishing that last guy said you gotta have something to do yeah but you’re supposed to love the Lord more than you love Fishing or anything in this world
The way I see it, Yah isnt opposed to people having hobbies, but if it becomes an idol then you have a problem. And there is definitely going to be a day when you are faced with either taking "the mark" so you will be able to "live in society" and do things like fish for sport, or not take that mark and focus on surviving until Jesus comes for his people.
