In any fishing reel the less friction there is between moving parts will always increase the reels performance. In spinning reels I find that to be more important when it comes to the main shaft and pinion gear. If there is a part that separates the two from making contact with each other during use will always increase the reel performance and feel. Thats the idea of Shimano infinity drive and the main purpose it serves. It helps to keep the main shaft centered and eliminates friction between the main shaft and pinion gear when retrieving under heavy loads. Other brands does it differently which serves the same purpose.

From what I understand, they still have classic x-ship dual pinion support, the bushing just serves as yet another area for support. On casting reels like the Conquest, it seems the spool just fits more securely inside the pinion (where the little spool pin is) and helps do the same thing.

X-ship is different from infinity drive. Infinity drive supports the main shaft to eliminate friction between the main shaft and pinion gear when cranking under load.

@@tackleaddictgy Yes but there was some confusion when it was first introduced, that they were replacing dual bearing pinion support

The dual bearing pinion support is still there.

@@tackleaddictgy That's what I was initially stating. Big thing on some forums, few people didn't understand Infinity drive

Hello... I am surfing fishing with heavy weight teams in very difficult water conditions in the Bosphorus. Continuous horse-draw with depth, current and 250gr weight. Normally jig machines are efficient here. However, I'm considering ultegra 14000 xse for longer distances. Do you think it can handle these harsh conditions? Or should I continue to use jig style machine? Thank you from now.

The ultegra 14000xse should serve you fine and just like any reel you'll have to take good care of it.

I doubt a pinion with no bushing would have that much play the tolerance would be much tighter

does diawa have any technology similar to infinity drive?

Not that I'm aware of.

Daiwa doesn't offer something like infinitydrive but starting from the BG MQ, and all their MQ reels, have a friction mitigating ring beneath the main shaft which seems to imitate what this does. But I've heard from japanese anglers that the twinpower and stella sw is easier to winch under load compared to the saltiga and certate sw (Big fish GT/Tuna)

@@danielwutfisho Thanks for the comment. there is definitely some validity to what the Japanese anglers are saying, i have a used both a certate 8000p and tried my mates stella SW 8000HG, the stella is by far significantly easier to winch in a fish, despite the fact that my certate in theory should have way more torque being a power gear yet the stella is significantly better to wind under load.

@@Deathtitan000 I think both companies make excellent reels suitable for most applications. I tend to stick with daiwa for bigger sized reels and shimano for the small ones.
