Many thanks for you video. I watched it several times but could not figure out why there was still chain rub after installing new chain. What helped me was, that while in small chainring, I placed 2.5mm LN key between big chainring and bottom of derailleur. Having 2,5mm gap instead 1-2mm gap solved it.
Seriously, this is the best guide ever on youtube. I couldnt even figure out the instructions from shimano, but got the indexing right following your step by step guide on the first try. Kudos for the vid!
do you know, love the what must be bristolian accent and despite it sounding boring, to me today you are a hero.... All day I have been trying to sort my front derailiuer . I've checked 100 vids when things didn't or wouldn't go right... All I needed was to fit that tab that you so eloquently demonstrated. Jeez, I should have listened to you in the first place. thanks so much for this vid it's the best,.
Some brilliant tips here, the pushing in of the rear of the cage a couple of mm to ensure the B screw is under tension before adjustment, is one of those things you can't learn from a book and need a quality mechanic to show. Thank you.
Great videos, having bought a frame in January your guides have just about got it built up with the 8000 Ultegra groupset just waiting for the 300mm cable to connect the front mech now and I’m good to go. Thanks a lot
Thank you for your video - really helpful - made the difference between me sorting my Di2 front mech/getting out on my bike and having to give up and put bike into the (currently very busy) bike shop. 👍
Thanks for all of your videos, I regularly learn new things from them. My front mech seems to start auto trimming for no reason after 1-2 hrs of riding, you can't see it but you can hear it, very annoying. The battery is fully charged and otherwise both front and back shift perfectly. I wondered if there is a sensor that prompts the auto trim (?), maybe I have a problem with that. Any ideas? 🙏
I couldn't get the cage angle correct just using the adjustment screw. Had to loosen the downtube bolt and rotate the whole derailleur a bit. Once I did that, I could get the cage angle straight enough that I no longer got rubbing.
Great video thanks ! I've been having a problem recently getting the FD to shift down properly under load, in the shop it shifts fine but under load it generally will not shift down. Have you encountered that before ? Any ideas what to look for to make it work properly ? Thanks !
Great explanation ,best on RU-vid. A question for you if you could help please. I have just got bike with DI2 and have had a few problems with front derailleur. last two rides mid ride the tail of cage has been catching the teeth of large chainring - like you explained if the derailleur has not been set up correctly. it has been ok for 60 mile on one ride and 80 mile on another until problem occurred - it seems like the cage has moved too far outward causing the problem - gently bending the tail of the cage inward or resetting the derailleur gets rid of problem. got me baffled. any help appreciated - cheers
I have a giant TCR brought 8 years ago need to replace my front derailleur will r8000 fit on my 10 speed also got to replace inner cable if not could you recommend a replacement I have a ultegra on what came with the bike
Is this the same for Dura Ace? I've followed your steps to set up DA but still having issues if it's on big/big, even having issues when it's big ring and one cog up from big/big, it drops to the small ring. I know you're probably not supposed to run big/big but sure you should be able to be one cog up I think? Thanks for the tutorial though!
So where is the rear derailleur set to? Smallest or highest cog? Because when it's in the smallest, the front will trim itself and won't be in the smallest position. Im currently trying to get it to work :D.
Hello, thanks for the video, very useful. Can you please tell me if there is an electronic micro-adjustment on the ultegra FD 8050 ? Shimano dealer manual says there is one, but it looks that it does not work on my bike. Thanks !
Yes there is a micro adjustment feature! Make sure the firmware is upto date and the derailleur is set on the largest chainring and the largest sprocket on the cassette!
@@FreeToCycle you were right, I had to be in « big - big » configuration for the set up. And actually it was impossible because the low screw of the rear derailleur was not set up correctly! Once ut was fixed I could finally access the micro adjustment mode for the front derailleur. Shame on Canyon for poor adjustment of derailleurs on the bikes they sell… and chezrs to you !
Great video. I have a 2014 Ultegra Comp with internal cabling and I want to upgrade to Ultegra Di2. From everything I have looked at it would appear that the frame is compatible but I took it to my LBS today and the guy said that it needed to holes for the front derailleur wires. I have one hole on the rear side of the front derailleur which from this video appears to be in the right place. Am I missing something? How do I know if the holes on my bike will be big enough to feed the wires through?
The holes need to be 5mm in diameter, the one for the front derailleur is on the seat tube just under the derailleur hanger (if you have a braze on type).
Thanks for the vid! Bit off-topic - how are the Prime wheels doing? I had to change bearings on the rear hub twice already! (Bought them in March 2019.) Do you have the same issues with them? Thanks. Happy riding :)
@@FreeToCycle Might be worth changing the hubs then (or just buy the rims and lace them yourself). They seem to be fine with a lot of beating off the road...
The low position is adjusted electronically. You need to put the system in adjustment mode using button on junction A then use shift up/down to adjust. Page 137 in dealer's manual.
