There's a reason in Japan this encounter was called Mot's Theater モト劇場. There's nothing you can do but watch.

How many beast eye should the Mot use? Atlus: yes

it would be an interesting experiment to use an immortality cheat just to see how long Mot will use Beast Eye and Megidolaon until you finally get your turn

Here is an analysis and comparison on the fight against Mot in both Vanilla and Hardtype, it's quite long, read at your own expense. ~Expand Break~ First things first. As per the hardtype norm, all bosses have increased health and mana. Some had extra resistances, extra moves, and other extra things. Mot actually only had two differences in hardtype, and one is the universal change of 'Makakaja is now Cadenza' and gaining an extra skill in Maragidyne. But these two changes still made the fight harder than Vanilla (and even harder for Buffie's low level challenge run). So the best strategy to fight Mot in Vanilla was using evasion buffs and accuracy debuffs like any sensible person. Stacking Sukukaja and Fog Breath will literally make this boss a cake walk, as even if Mot has generated a whole lot of turns, and buffed himself to +4 Magic, it wouldn't mean anything if he just misses all those Megidolaons (unless he used Dekunda before doing any of that). But in Hardtype, Makakaja has been made obselete since Tarukaja now buffs both physical and magical attack, and as such has been changed to Cadenza that increases both magic attack *AND ACCURACY*. Not only are players limited to +2/-2 buff and debuffs in hardtype, making it less likely to dodge in the first place, Mot can pretty much no-sell any attempts at defense since he can buff his own accuracy to the max, Megidolaon is almighty and thus cannot be resisted, and in the case where one max buffed Megidolaon did not kill anyone could just Beast Eye for more turns. Besides, it is also very crucial to get a team that resists fire spells because Maragidyne's base power is actually higher than Megidolaon's, which means Mot doesn't even need to bust out Megidolaon spam if he can just wipe you out with a single Maragidyne. Contrary to Vanilla where it's very possible to beat Mot as long as you actually use buffs/debuffs like a sensible SMT player, the only way to beat Mot in hardtype is for him to have mercy on your soul and not spam beast eye.

I always knew he _could_ use Beast Eye as much as he wanted, but practically speaking it would only give him a few extra moves and only on the turns he used it at all. Seeing him just throw it out there 5 times in a row was *hysterical!*

Regardless of the fact that this is the [Hardtype] patch: WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND THINKS CREATING AN ABILITY TO GENERATE FREE PRESS TURNS IS A GOOD IDEA? FURTHERMORE, WHY WOULDN'T THEY TRY TO PUT A CAP ON HOW MANY TIMES IT CAN BE USED IN A SINGLE TURN? There's difficult, and then there's "All players must lose."

Now, I have heard a lot of bad things about Mot. I had heard that this boss spams Beast's Eye and Megidolaon, and I thought," Oh, if he spams just those two moves, then it can't be that hard, right?" And then I discovered just exactly what Beast's Eye does. (On a side note, I just noticed that this was uploaded on my birthday this year, so yay me and an F for Demi Fiend)

Demi-fiend: "So when do I get to attack back?" Mot: "That's the fun part, you don't."

After my first attempt at this fight I just turned off the ps2 and went to bed.

Mot's only reliable counter is sukukaja/kunda or fog breath spam. Used to wonder why everybody said this guy was difficult and then all I see is every party member getting hit without fail for over 300 something damage. This is still funny as hell, but use your buffs and debuffs people.

I beat him in one attempt in my unrestricted run, but *DAMN!* There were a few points where I thought I was done for. But Dante Never Yielded. And neither did I. Seriously though, Drain and Repel affinities to Phys, Fire, and Wind are *_crucial_* in this fight! Skills like Heat Riser and Antichthon are nice bonuses as well, if you have them by now. (I cleared the Labyrinth of Amala before starting the Diet Building)

Ok now, this would definitely be the point when skills like "beast eyes" should be de-powered or restricted to some extent because this is not a matter of difficulty spikes, that's just flat out ridiculous and far too much of an unfair advantage for the boss! (Unless this triggers by a player trying a certain strategy on mot. I wouldn't know though.) I'm still plan on getting this though.

It's gonna get worse with Sarasvati with Dragon eye, just imagine her with Mot in this fight.
