Shin Megami Tensei 4 Apocalypse Boss Stephen [APOCALYPSE]
First time playing through SMT4 series.
Sequel too SMT4 (sorta)
Streaming this as I play through it, but still will make a movie out of it.
Pre-ordered a 3ds built in capture card a while ago 2016 (February) from Keity, but it takes around 5 months for them to make/ship it (I received it July 8th). Originally I had a 3ds XL just for this game, but the screen on a handheld device was just way too annoying to play on, and I'm not a fan of that but now I can play 3ds games on a monitor/tv with a lot bigger screen and it's a lot better now.

I noticed something .Flynn is talking about restoring hope , which only happens if you chose neutral .aleph says he was killed by the megido ark , which only fires if you picked the law ending .demo fiend says he was killed by lucifer , which only happens if you choose the true demon ending .on the other hand The hero says he was killed by the ICBMs which happen at the first portion of the game before the law , chaos and neutral alignments are properly introduced

Wouldn't Aleph be on the Megiddo Ark in the law route though since if he wasn't law aligned, he would've been cast out of Eden and been obliterated by the Megiddo Ark? It doesn't help that his parting words were that he and his "partner" were going to defeat YHVH, which could be Hiroko, Lucifer and Satan.

OFC this Demi Fiend sucks. He says he couldnt defeat Lucifer, wich meas this dumbfuck didnt got Pierce nor Phys maxed out. This is comming from someone that mixed in some aoe magic too for fast farm cleanings, Phys build is mandatory.

I think it's kind of neat that the different messiahs represent the different alignments/ paths. Aleph seems very Law and good boy, Flynn seems caring and Neutral, and Demi-fiend is big Chaos energy.

Spoilers but that’s literally what’s happening: flynn states that he wants to create hope and remove the rock barrier which is what you do in smt 4’s neutral ending Aleph was killed by the megido ark which only fires on the law ending. Demi-fiend wants a rematch with lucifer which only happens on the true demon ending (the closest thing to chaos as you literally take the fight to god). And the hero died in the icbm strike. Which is basically the mid point of smt 1 before the chaos and law reprasentatives even have a falling out and before you definitively pick a side.

I think what's impressive here is that The Hero is level 125 and on par with the other messiah's despite only being from the point in time where the ICBM's fell. Which isn't even near the end of the game.

You know how enemies that have low health are colored red when you're choosing someone to attack? Even YHVH gets that red color. But Stephen never gets that color - he never gets low on health. That's a pretty cool touch.

You can call this DLC quest just a miasma of fanservice, but it's entertaining as hell, and really interesting in showing just how powerful Stephen is as a character, the fact that it takes five messiahs at the possible peak of their strength in all of their timelines and mind you Aleph, who is arguably the strongest out of them all, went neck and neck with YHVH by himself, so these are no slouches when it comes to messiahs, along with the combined forces of your own meticulously planned out team of demons only manages to AMUSE Stephen, he gets up, and has the ability to wipe you out with the simple combo of *Pair Production + Calamity code* and by the end of it he just congratulates you on a job well done and pretty much says "that will suffice" what a monstrous character comparable to all but one entity In summary this was an amazing fight and Stephen is terrifying powerful

Well it was making contact with the one entity on the same level as Stephen, The Axiom. Apparently making simple contact with it made Stephen into a possibly multi-universal being with the fact that the destruction of the universe if you chose Dagda's true ending only proved as a inconvenience to him in the same way you'd feel about sending a letter to the post office.

IMHO, I think Steven may be similar to YHVH in that he's an avatar of the Great Will and/or The Axiom, except he's looking out for mankind instead of trying to subjugate it and/or drive it into the throes of chaos like the Law and Chaos sides are, or trying to instigate an Assimilation Plot like the Divine Powers were.

Coming to this from SMT V and seeing Stephen's flashing eyes is interesting, Gold symbolized the lost knowledge/power of the true gods in V, and Red was the color of true demons from III. Does the way his eyes cycle between gold, neutral, and red symbolize the different forces of the universe? Law, Neutral, Chaos | Gods, Humanity, Demons?

Regardless of what he says you can tell Stephen is holding back considerably, those poorly planned move orders make no sense for the guy who knows basically everything otherwise, if he actually wanted you dead I suspect it would look something like: Enemy attacked first, full party hp to half attack whose name I already forgot, insert element singularity, insert element singularity, game over screen, or at least him starting turns with Pair production instead of ending them with it, instead he deliberately gives you a chance to counter his moves and prepare because this is just a test to him

@@Bluecho4 If he set up with his self full-buff, his enemy full-debuff, and then did Crack Code (removes 3 press turns) before it switches back to Nanashi's party, he could probably just use 2 Singularity attacks and crush them. I'm assuming the party uses one Dekaja or Dekunda and he re-buffs or re-debuffs appropriately. The dude takes hits on dozens of turns from SMT protags, including two that go on to kill YHVH, and just goes "my job here is done" and leaves. Also, fun fact, you know how enemies that get low on health are colored red when you choose someone to attack? Stephen never gets that color. He never gets low on health.

Looking at Stephens move set, I concocted an evil strategy if i was him, alright here goes. First Turn: Particle Annihilation + Pair Production + Crack Code. If Stephen did these in the first turn, the chances of recovering are pretty low since you would have one turn. Second Turn: Particle Annihilation + Some severe multi hitting spell, then crack code. Since it would be vs the messiahs, he would probably do almost the exact same thing, but Stephens stats are already max and hes smirking. From here he would just keep up whatever debuff or buff they decided to remove since they only have 1 turn. This would never happen since Stephen is just testing you, but if he was serious, wow. I realize the moves would change a little since the messiah team can remove smirk, but if he abused his best moves, the chances of winning is 0. Even if you had 9999 hp. Stephen can remove half your hp in one move. What i proposed could actually be better if he gets a crit first turn, then he could use particle annihilation, to get maximum use from his press turns.

Something like Stephen intentionally released the expanse unto the world, then this mystery app appears on peoples phones. It'd be less about saving the world and more about minimizing potential damage. Legendary would do a fantastic job I'll bet

I find it amusing that most of the MCs can really fall under certain D&D alignments. Aleph is a Lawful Good character... Demi-Fiend is Chaotic Neutral... Flynn is Neutral Good... and I'd hazard to guess Nanashi would fall under Chaotic Good, and the Nahobino would be Lawful Neutral.

Demifiend is probably one of the most confusing characthers in Megaten history. Like in this timeline he literally got his ass beaten by Lucifer. But in SMTV it is shown that after he killed his multiverse he kinda just wanders through different dimensions. So he is basically the only protag you can't know for sure how strong is. He done most of his shit off screen and thats kinda frustrating. Atlus pushes him to be some kind of superboss to every Megaten protag and honestly if he can go toe-to-toe with Nahobino than he is already stronger than he was at TDE.

This boss is more or less RNG on Apocalypse. One dodged action can lead to him dealing massive amounts of damage on one of your teams. And he dodges quite frequently. Even when all my members on my team have about 400 AG each on them.

Persona 3, 4, and 5 all take place in the same universe, while the SMT games take place in different universes, meaning Yu Narukami couldn’t drive down to Mikado and see Flynn, for example. If these characters were to meet face-to-face, it would take some reality-bending shenanigans to do so, meaning it would become a crossover. Crossover doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be a separate franchise.
