I like that despite being the literal god of destruction, capable of annihilating universes on a whim, Shiva still feels the need to call upon his family and friends to beat the shit out of the Nahobino
Honestly, this is the best boss in the entire game, challenging but not stupidly frustrating, it's just you and your demons against Shiva and his family
I've gotten to the Empyrean in SMT5 and I don't think I've felt overwhelmed by my opposition like this in any video game: - Abdiel and Ichiro want to uphold YHVH's order despite him being dead. - Koshimitzu/Tsukiyomi and Yuzuru want to bring Japanese's myraid gods back into power. - Khonsu, Odin, and Zeus all have their own visions for the world they want to make reality. - Lucifer wants to claim the Throne of Creation for himself to usher in a new age where chaos reigns supreme. - Shiva just wants to destroy the universe and have it be remade by Brahma. - Nuwa and Yakumo are the two I have no clue where they're at, but I have a feeling I'll be seeing them soon. And I of course have to deal with *all of them.* And to think just about an in-game week ago I was playing as an ordinary high school student.
@@jj_grabes Lucifer ultimately gave up on the world after absorbing YHVH's knowledge, instead choosing to act as a catalyst for the new world, depending on who comes to him
@@jj_grabesnuwa and yakumo want to destroy the throne, to stop demons from having control over humanity’s lives. Because it has shown that every time demons are involved in any thing only humans suffer.
Honestly the best rendition of 3D shiva yet, he looks identical yet has something that’s different in a good way maybe it’s his face. Also love his theme. Sad to see Tandava uses magic and not strength tho, you’d think that a demon known for his high strength would have his signature skill be strength based oh well it’s still an extremely strong skill.
@@knightartorias8755 pretty sure the stat cap is 149, my Nahobino's at 101 strength so it definitely isn't 99. You'd still be able to pump him up with magic incense, and you get a bunch from your demon partner picking up from the last area of da'at
@@ttarzzxz3711 yeah, I was still unaware at the time I was posting this. The stat can actually reach 400 since Inanna boss magic stat reaches that much if you use spyglass on her.
@@schlierenzauer6020 True. You fight him alongside Hinako and Jungo if you do not take Daichi route. Beating him unlocks him for fusion. He also leaves if Hinako is defeated
I finally why i like this model much better then other rendisions of the same design. It's his colour. Normally Shiva is more purple then blue but here he is fully blue and looking more natural.
Thanks for the advice! Took him down on hard at Lvl 88 through trial & error. The allies I kept alive for him were Ganesha/Parvati since they're the most tame in terms of moves and my Amanozako had zanbarion/high force plemora to deal with Ananta every time it spawned.
When I fought him I was like 1 hit away from dying, my team was completely dead, and I didn’t have enough mp to use a move. I used an ice gem on him and managed to finish him off, barely clutching the fight. This was at like 3 AM Too so I woke up my family lol
You know why Buffmaister only used -kaja spells instead of Luster Candy / Debilitate? Because the demons he used had high HP but low MP, if he were to use the said skills, he would run out of MP in 4-5 turns. That said, using demons with high MP low HP would get wiped out when Shiva uses Tandava.
I ended up using beelzebub with great mana spring and EX Boon Boost. I could get off full stacks of debilitate/luster candy, refill mana in off turns, and the rest of the time throw some attacks out. So broken 😁
@@marksalita204 the prep is the fun part. I was going for the secret ending on my first playthrough, so I didn't have any NG+ perks. The grind was brutal haha, but very rewarding
Would had been great if he had a full voice over. Either way, such a great battle. Best setting, best music, best atmosphere and just the right amount of challenge to push your team to the limit.
Man I just beat the Normal version of this fight. Even at Level 99, this one made me sweat. If this is the hardest the base game has to offer, then Demi-Fiend is gonna be a complete nightmare
@@Kazzy234 had the same problem. But i started noticing where i need to pay attention and had to prep up my start-up demons accordingly. Was still a tough one, but i did it and so will you
@@Kazzy234 I had a lotta trouble with him even also while max level. I eventually beat him after getting certain demons and leveling them up too. The most helpful demons I used were Beelzebub, Gabriel, and Vishnu. Beelzebub had luster candy and debilitate, Gabriel was helpful with the God's Shield Magatsuhi for Shiva's Magatsuhi and she also healed and had Dekunda. Vishnu mostly used items and had Mudobarion for whenever Ananta came up before it could heal Shiva. My Nahobino just used Thalassic Calamity (yet Bufobarion or Ice Age could be better) and Profound Land for Ananta too. This team worked wonders and I beat him this way! Basically, you want someone buffing, someone healing, someone damaging, and someone who can kinda just do anything but mostly restoring MP with items!
@@thefoxydrampa3117 my strategy was a bit different, but yes, these 3 demons were my start set up as well! Beelzebub had ice age and debilitate, vishnu had mudobarion for ananta, luster candy and mediaharan and gabriel was important for that high ice damage, the magatsuhi skill(i didnt end up using tho lol) and dekunda. I got amon as a back up with luster candy and debilitate. His resistance was a big help. Another back up for worst case was lakshmi with her own mediaharan and luster candy and the magatsuhi skill that revives and heals the whole stock Also cover weaknesses with either drain or block skills Also raising their potential for ice skill to +9 for more damage worked wonders as well. Just use up all possible boosters you got for your main party before going in!
I love this fight, it demands from you being very catious from the beginning till the very end, while demi-fiend is a constant brainstorming all the way with the only plausible tactics is to have full stack of demons with a complete resistance.
@@CereDulce37 Canonically speaking, Shiva would've destroyed way more than just a universe, seeing how high he is into the power hierarchy, he would've destroyed the entire human world, which has infinite universes.
You're the only person I've seen who leaves 1 ally alive instead of burning them all down. I had a feeling that was the play. Very helpful as I'm in mid taito and have been plotting shiva strats.
If you have a shitton of soma, bead chains, or a thick stack of healer demons, you can outlast his tandavas and grind him down by constantly blasting everyone as soon as he spawns them. Also Shiva isnt harmless just bc hes not using Tandava. He will start going for TPKs more frequently when other npcs are on the field, and unlike Tandava, demons WILL die without a magatsuhi skill covering you. On the flip side, an exploit i considered but didnt try out is leveraging the fact Shiva's allies take their press turns first and only use party attack skills, so as long as at least one of your demons can repel or drain the attack you stand a good chance of cancelling Shiva's outright.
@@Nonaggress That's what I did to beat him at level 87. Killed every ally except for Parvati, and she kept using Mahamaon on my team, wasting turns because everyone was either resistant or immune. Also used Baal's Essence on Nahobino to gain his resistances, allowing Nahobino to resist and repel Shiva's fire and electric attacks respectively. The hardest thing was to keep track of Ananta when Parvati summoned it.
Shiva:The world should not be created by a given being, Rather, it is the beings that should be created by the world Also Shiva: so anyway, I'm going to destroy it so my god can recreate the World :)
Judging from the context, he means that anyone who recreates earth will become corrupted over time because they put their focus on mortal and God affairs on earth which would make the recreator wish to keep the good faith of humanity whilst keeping the other demons under control. But as brahman will recreate the universe he will not put his focus on earth and as such not become corrupted by desire and control, as he is "too needed" everywhere else to dedicate his time to earth and its demon occupants. At least that's what I thought when I heard this.
What would have been really cool is if they gave this fight a gimmick like Masakado in SMT IV. If you don't defeat Shiva in a certain number of turns, Rudra Astra automatically activates and destroys the universe.
Erasing all the Pokemon after doing a bunch of quests for said Pokemon, which are necessary and very arbitrary requirements for the TRU Neutral ending, was dumb. Actually, writing is ass in this.
@@haihuynh8772 Trouble is, with this mentality you might as well not give a shit about human characters either, which makes stories more boring. Either way, I don't like it.
Ended up soloing the boss in his low health and barely winning by spamming murakumo with free criticals, but completely steamrolling the true final boss.
Did you forgoe luster candy and debilitate for mp conservation? I know tandiva tanks def but I just used dekunda and enjoyed the evasion still being there
That's not even close. Persona just makes it like that because it's mostly not dark and leans more to happy endings. Personas and Demons are stated to be the same thing by Igor in Persona 1.
so, as far i know defeating him is necesary to see the hidden ending ,the question is ¿do i have to do it before the route split or i can do it after the route split to to the quests and have an easier time againts him?
Definitely before because you will be locked out of everything else once you open the doors leading to the Empyrean and have to make your choices. So best to find a way to beat him then save and go
In a way, I hated/loved fighting him. Hated because I died 10 times (2 where I almost beat him. Loved because I managed to get the true ending without even realizing I had to beat him for it. Usually, I Just play a game the way I like to at first and get whatever ending I get from it, then I look up on RU-vid for the best endings. Personally, getting it in one play through was a breath of fresh air for me.
No Magatsuhi for you? Woulda made it too easy? In my playthrough I suped up a Dominion and had always had him around for Sea of Stars. He came in handy when Parvati warped in.
This game really encourages you to use demons for long time use similar to Nocturne, it hands out Grimores like crazy even without the Mitama DLC. King Frost, Anahita, Chironupu, Alice, Black Frost, Belpagor, Idunn, Yoshitsune and the Fiends are great well beyond their fusion level for example.
Been wondering if you use dlc to lv up / macca / glory? I bought the dlcs since i dont have times on grinding, but seeing people beat the game on hard difficulty make me wonder if the dlc is not needed at all
@@Safersephiroth777 I actually cleared the Trumpeter fight the other day and got him fused. Need to level him one more time so he has Maragibarion since also set him up with Concentrate and the second MP increase passive
For Dlc id recommend mother harlot but for base game most def metatron with null phys I took the high almighty pleroma from it instead but on ng+ ill take the affinity
I have heard that some Hindus were offended that Shiva and other Hindu gods were depicted as demons in the game. but after all, the game does not say that it is Shiva himself, it's just a demon that looks like Shiva and copies him and his name. All the creatures in the game are some kind of entities that look like gods and spirits in the mythologies of different peoples, including Japanese, there is nothing offensive here. if some person dresses up in a Shiva costume and takes a photo, it will not make him a real Shiva.
Actually no. The people who follow iskcon beliefs on the west were & that is usually directed at any media that portrays Hindu & Buddhists Gods. Such as final fantasy, Dragonball, and so on. Traditional Hindus & Buddhists don’t really care about that sort of thing. The spokes person “ Rajan Zed” starts those types of articles. I assure you he speaks mainly for himself and not everyone of the Hindu faith.
That is true. Especially consider that the demons are basically incomplete beings due to not having their Knowledge, which is contained within a human. A Nahobino is basically a god or demon achieving their full potential once more, by becoming one with the human bearing their Knowledge
I must just be getting mega unlucky. Every time i fought Shiva, he spams Impaler's Animus and some AoE based attack and destroys me. Even with max defense and his attack at the lowerest... the game cheats XD
Shiva uses Megidolaon and Impalers Animus if you nullify his attacks. If you merely resist phys fire and elec, he never uses IA and only uses Megidolaon one time at the halfway point.
I mean he's "The Destroyer". The Hindu gods in general are usually stronger than all other gods minus the creator, reason why for the most part they are some of the highest leveled demons if their respected races.
Use up your Gospels so you can get to 95 and make Beelzebub and Metatron to make your life easier. If you already used them all up and did all the sidequests, probably the rooms with all the Madas in the final dungeon is my guess
@@ttarzzxz3711 thanks I’ll do just that. Edit several days later: I did it I grinder and fused Odin, Zeus and Alliat. Got them to level 99and fed them incenses to get their vit, st, mag, and agility past 100 and beat him
You can use grimoires. I am at the same point in the game, and I have 97 grimoires, so they're plentiful, provided my experience correlates with most people's experiences. You can also grind for them.
