I love Mastema as a character, he is both perfectly memeable and serious at the same time. I also adore the fact that they cite his floor-smashing skills from Strange Journey.
One video has Great Lament and "Oh Lord in Heaven, heed my prayers... AND ANSWER!!!" while this one has "In the name of our hallowed and mighty Lord... EVIL, BEGONE!!!" 🤣🤣🤣
Handsome angel time. The Chaos route may be kinda iffy this time, but Mastema is the absolute highlight and he is great as always. They really went all out with his animations and voice acting.
Ima just say this is the sole reason I accepted Yoko This boss felt GREAT to do He's the entire reason Dazai changed and why Yuzuru died Great boss and great OST
A recognisable demon boss desgined by kazuma kaneko i can tell by the upperlip darken and one of those bosses with wow i cant believe this boss has many press turns
As cool as this boss seems... How could they get rid of the "nice argument, unfortunately *MEGIDOLOAN*" meme?! It was his one claim to infamy (along side the coral blue number 2 lips of course)
They didn't. He got lucky on the ai move choice when his health got low because he had no problem spamming Great Lament when I fought him in Godborn. I regret doing law first and chaos on godborn because he is a nightmare
I agree with the fact that Mastema was quite the joke and it's even more confusing when you look at his skill set and you wonder why he never used those Almighty skills that he had. At least the music was amazing!
He is not that easy, his innate skill allows him half press turns when you hit him for weakness/critical. This can easily spiral out of control if he suddenly has 8 turns(5 half turns).
@@SaltyMon Yeah if you let him hit weaknesses or multiple Almighty moves, which I think he uses very rarely at low HP (unless you're in battle sim where his AI is smarter)? Otherwise he's pretty much drain/repel bait.
Ive seen him go ham with like eight unique almighty attacks in a row decimating the whole party to the point it blew through all the nahobino's revived and left him super low as well. Dude seems to be able to sweep you if you arent set up to counter him
He, like the rest of the bosses, is basically fucked by the AI. He could've easily just chosen to do Great Lament, but the AI chose to do Seething Mansemat instead (you can find plenty of clips where he just opts for that, anyway; he never used Great Lament against me, though). It's very common, the bosses don't have any way to really counter the player aside from instant-kills or spamming Almighty moves.
it's his innate skill Crime and Punishment, gives him an extra flashing turn icon per attack hitting his weakness or scoring a critical hit, up to 8 icons max
@@Bornagainvillainyeh... Ive seen many opinions on the press turn systems, many voiced opinions on the "oh null all? What if i megidolaon 4 times?" Saying that they deserve the 'easy mode', others welcoming it, as it deserves to be challenging as a final/superboss ought to be
The only really noteworthy thing about Mastema is he's got a whopping three signature skills, none of which he uses frequently. (Edit: 2:56 - Well he never used that one on me four times in a row...) The only one that's noteworthy is Great Lament, which is the only skill in his set that could be any challenge since it's Almighty and does way more damage if you have an ailment. So naturally he basically never uses it. His other two signatures, which coincidentally you can't use yourself because Lol, are Seething Mansemat (10/10 name btw), which is just a whatever all party physical move that always crits and basically does more damage upon a crit (and is pathetic otherwise, and frankly already is still pathetic because with crit bonus it's still weaker than Hades Blast), and Untainted Winds, which would be kind of interesting, but still isn't very good. It does really mediocre Force damage, less than Mazandyne lmao, but it has a 50% charm proc (for whatever reason) and has a double debilitate effect. The latter quality is the only good part of the move. It's still lame and can't pierce Force immunity though. He could actually be threatening if the game made you fight him back to back right after Tiamat... So naturally he doesn't, so he just gets mad at you and gets ready to fight you, and then just sits there and lets you waddle off to the nearby leyline fount to freshen up. Yep. I don't care for back to back bosses with no opportunities to save, but this still seems really stupidly put together.
@@mrex666productions7 Aye, I'm aware. Haven't actually done New-Law yet myself but I've heard a lot of not nice things about the exclusive boss there.
@@DMSwordsmaster And I'm 100% sure it's deliberate for story reasons, if you're in V-Chaos the game pretty much just assumes you're straight-up going to White everyone off the Universe past that point so whatever left that stands in front of you tends to be not very powerful, if it's V-Law then you're going to see much worse because the game assumes you're still the same old Nahobino as prior, you're very powerful, but at the end you're still a human. I don't know how to word this properly, but it sorta reminds me of the situation in Apocalypse where the Massacre route gives you much easier boss fights than the Bonds Route would.
