@@Hugsloth I put in like 403 hours between all playthroughs, like.. to think we're getting the true story makes me happy, I loved vanilla SMT V so much, the trailers alone for Vengeance really do make vanilla seem so different bruh 😭

every trailer they show makes me less excited for the release of a full priced game that I bought years ago.

I just hope it isn't locked for just the final part of the story when we won't have much time to use it.

mine too, some of the most perfect gameplay we have gotten from an smt game. unique and interesting lore ideas, some cool characters and story beats. but it was just missing something, a few things. thats why im so excited for this cuz it looks like it might give me that.

SMT 3 Nocturne is still my number 1, but vanilla 5 was very enjoyable too. This might contend for that number 1 spot. Hopefully they also added/changed some things to the vanilla story instead of just adding this second one.

I know it's a rumor that the reason for the story was because of demon but that just doesn't really make sense to me. Especially considering just how much of the game's model work was outsourced, and how many models are perked up versions of the ones from p5.

@@sociallyawkard5675 Pedantry at best, outright BS at worst. Atlus has been reusing the same model bases and animation rigging since they began porting Kaneko's art to 3D during the seventh console generation. The assets made for NINE (or rather, its prototype which eventually split off into IMAGINE) and Nocturne were eventually reused and tweaked at best for DDS, Raidou, and Persona 3 and 4. P5 for the most part was taking those old assets and bringing them to contemporary fidelity standards, and those were then reused for other projects like this one. They did the same thing with sprites during the SNES era. It's been their operating procedure forever. Any claim that P5 and Dx2 (hence "outsourced" but Sega owns Atlus anyway so they're really just giving them support) don't share any models with SMTV is obviously false at face value. They do touch-ups between the games to fit with each one's style and optimization, but Metatron's polygon count is identical between P5 and SMTV. There are original demons in each game, but besides those, most of them are reused in some capacity. Anyone who thinks Atlus isn't _wisely_ recycling their assets is delusional. What SMTV brought to the table was more animations to account for overworld demons and certain special animations, but any demon SMTV shares with P5 is basically the same asset.

@sociallyawkard5675 that's fair. I still don't really buy that the modeling was the issue though. With how game teams are usually structured it wouldn't make a lot of sense for everything to be held back because of modeling. Especially when a lot of smtvs larger problems come from its overall design.

Also interesting to note that Dazai seems to be leaning more into his superficial Zayin knockoff role by getting petrified, bonus points if during that time he gets "lectured" by lack of a better word by Lucifer or even Satan since he might be present this time. ik he did get touched upon by Lucifer himself in base V post the summit meeting but still, different story who knows what'll happen or how stuff needs to be structured. Main reason I bring that last point up as a bonus is that SMT2's visionary items seem to imply Zayin was touched upon by Lucifer when he was also frozen which is the reason why he decides to overthrow YHVH in 2.

She seems to be related to Lilith in some form. There's a track on the OST literally called "Yoko and Lilith" and ofc there's all the dialogue from Lilith egging her on.

She might be Lilith's knowledge for all we know

Yeah, I loved the combat and gameplay, but the lack of interesting story in the original was quite disappointing for a SMT game.

Im genuinely so pissed at this. I waited so long for a Port to Pc for SMTV. And i figured it would never come, so i gave in and played it on Switch a few months ago. And now this exists. Im aware Atlus has a habit of releasing the same game in better a few years later, but i never expected it with SMTV....

You say Switch killed performance (which it kinda did, but whatever), yet this game is still gonna be on a switch too. PS4/5/PC versions will be better experience for sure, but how much better (or worse) this new version on switch would be, compared to original?
