Nice little piece of equipment! At work, someone dropped an old 1500w generator off near the dumpster. It was about from the same time period. He said it was leaking gas and didn't want it anymore. The shut off was much like the one on yours. I took it apart and examined it. Someone had it apart before me and put the rubber piece in backwards. I reset it and now have a good generator that doesn't leak gas!

Shindaiwa merged with Kioritz (Kyoritsu Noki) in 2008 to become the Yambiko corporation. Kioritz built equipment and sold them under the Echo trade name.

Very nice video! I understand why you would want to spend the time on it. I would love to see how it pumps a real load of water.

Looks very much like a TK carb. A spring loaded center punch works well for those float pivot pins.

This carburettor is the variable venturi type - there were two in that class S.U. and Stromberg. S.U used a piston (as here) to vary the venturi while Stromberg used a diaphragm. Back in the day it was all about the battle of patents, and everyone came up with slight variations to a general design. Hitachi in Japan made some very reliable carburettors of one or both these types for automobiles, but by late 1970's I can't remember seeing any in Japanese cars/trucks.🌵

I think you can still get parts for that pump. If I remember right, there is supposed to be a screen above the petcock that acts as a fuel filter.

Your correct! And yes, that fuel shut off is still available - with the fuel filter built in. Thanks for watching! :)
