I love your Shinedown reactions!! I went and seen them live a few months ago, and it was the best concert I've ever been to by far!! Brent has 1 of my absolute favorite voices! You should do more songs from this album! America burning, Planet zero, Dysfunctional you, The Saints of violence and innuendo, Hope! The whole album is amazing!!
Comments singer Brent Smith: "This is about the human condition. We've got to live, and we've got to live with one another. And that should be something that is celebrated and not tolerated. That's what 'Daylight' really represents. It's our humanity. It's an understanding that we're all on this planet together, and we've got to figure out ways to take care of one another. A lot of times, it may just be asking someone 'are you okay?' because you could potentially save someone's life just by asking. We can't lose our empathy and courage towards each other, or our willingness to pick someone up if you see them on their knees, because there's gonna be a moment in time when you need someone to pick you up."
Before I watched your reaction, I didn't know this was about the band. I thought it was his take on what it was like for so many people who went through quarantine. The fact that he mentioned a specific amount of time gave me that impression. Just like with any song's lyrics, I guess they can be interpreted in many ways. It's always nice, though, to know the actual sentiment behind them. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song! It's a beautiful song that Brent gets to highlight his voice in. I still believe he has one of the best voices in music today, and I'll stand on that hill forever.
Hey Lee, this might be one of my new Shinedown favorites. And coming from me, you know that says a lot. They do actually have some similar songs to this in the past, though they're mostly over looked. Call Me, Lost In The Crowd, If You Only knew are some similar tonal sounding songs. You might want to check those out if you have time. Call Me is another all time favorite of mine.
Very different from what I'm used to from Shinedown. But sounds like Brent might have slipped a little in his sobriety and his friends and band mates pulled him back from that. As always Brent delivers a Message in the lyrics but an eargasm everytime he sangs.
