I am 65 years old and have been listening to music since Elvis began. (never really got into the Elvis thing) But then there was the Motown sound from Detroit. I have heard all of the voices from my teen years until now I have never gotten stuck in any time period of rock. I think it is called "progressive taste for music" Brett has one of the most distinctive and right-on voices I have ever heard. Their harmonies are beautiful and the music is tight well played and just the greatest. Your voices and instrument playing are right up there with what Shinedown considers their inspirations.
Just found this Did the hair on my neck stand up, yes Is it a great track yes Is it raw passion yes I wish I had written it. They had me at tell my mother tell my farther. I am 56 and it hit a spot. From 8 to 80 bang on.
I listen too you 😮😮amazing..20 years 🎉baby I'm hooked. What ever you need I can't get headset needs loud enough.. You need to be heard loud. My daughter is in music industry
Brent was blessed with an amazing voice, capable of captivating thousands of people...and even more than that, songs like "Unity" are truly masterpieces when sang by him, highlighting the good things in this world. Every song by this band just amazes me everytime i listen. :)
Sometimes prerecorded videos like this are done over and over which is why it's done with "lip syncing"... but Brent does NOT lip sync live.. and Lip sync, live or singing in the shower... the man has an amazing freakin voice!!!!! Get over yourselves with the negative criticism. Its boring.
Bands play live performances over a backing track so it doesn't sound empty and can be heard clearer. As for the chorus, I think it's the album version along with live version. Is that bad? No, because what if his voice cracks or something? It's to guarantee perfection. 99% of bands do that, so don't hate Shinedown for doing something smart :P
High baritone, actually. He can pitch and boom within a span of a second. He does it repeatedly. and unlike the usual screamers that can pitch high notes, he can actually sing the notes in between too.Check the videos that are under "Brent Smith's voice range' and you will have sound and description.
One of best natural vocalists out there today. Fact is the songs are extremely demanding on the vocal cords. Would like to see Shinedown around for years to come. Be sure to take that vacation time needed to stay in great health.
Stale Meme I've seen you numerous times at concerts at Somerset Wisconsin and you rock a house I hope you keep rocking here because you can really fulfill lots of dreams it's not goodbye until I see you next
Just saw them in concert last night and Brent did in fact nail this song flawlessly. The only thing they did was use a second guitar player that wasn't on stage with them. The concert was in his hometown Knoxville, TN. The only song he didn't sing high notes on was 45. Power singers tend to do that strategically though to rest their voice during sets. They played a solid almost two hours show and virtually back to back songs. Brent Smith has a very well trained and strong voice to sing their music on tours like they do. It's easy to believe it's lip syncing but he's just that damn strong vocally. Especially back when this video was produced.
Sorry to disappoint you guys but the chorus and the bridge are playback, he sings a lower harmony to make it look like he's actually hitting those high notes but he's not. What you're hearing is the studio vocals ripped straight from the album. Still, he's got a great voice and I love their songs.
This is live, if you listen to this song and listen to the recordings you'd notice the difference. Bret Smith has an amazing voice and can sing this live no problem.
whether or not they edited parts of this video...i honestley dont give a shit, ive been a fan of these guys for a long time and have seen them live, they sound great no matter what
This is how I see it. I do believe this is a live performance; however I do think the mics they're using are making the vocals sound perfect and spotless, and yes there is no doubt the back track is playing however, I think Brent is just singing along with the back track. I still enjoyed this a lot and I love Shinedown. Now, if you would like to have a professional and adult convo about your opinion please I encourage you to please comment your argumentP:S I will delete any childish comments please guys be adults.
Fleaflicker 34 This is most definitely live. I saw them not too long ago and he sounded even better than the albums, especially on this song and you could definitely tell it was live. sooo good!
2:16 he sings totally different notes than any pre-recorded notes. maybe they did some post editing, but this is pretty live, with a backtrack of strings.
Agree about Baritone topping out at G3 or A3 and the song has a ton of Bb3 and tops out at C4 on the chorus. But my point is just what you said, and I quote "I've noticed that every live show they have online cuts to a wide shot on every high note. As a tv director I find that weird." You nailed the point I was making. They've resorted to recordings mislabeled as 'live' or intermixed the lower vocal live stuff he can do with recordings. If you watch true live performances they're horrible.
Close but I still have to say M.Shadows is number one. Brent is up there and so is Adam from Three Days Grace. All awesome singers. Not enough of singers like this around today seriously.
Okay so somebody direct me to a video of Brent actually hitting the high notes without the playback? I've watched several of there performances of this song and none of them is he hitting those high notes live or can he hit those high notes without the playback? Anyway, great song though. timeless. never gets old.
You might enjoy looking the "Shinedown in my house" videos. Dude records shinedown playing in his house somewhere down south it seems, 90% of the people have no idea whats about to hittem until Brent really starts singing. I doubt they had even heard of shinedown. Thats back in the Oxy days.
This is acoustic so definitely no tracks and was a year or 2 ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1pTJ30_GCZU.htmlsi=Oj0JORGdMBCiIH7_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lKtGJCbr2Uw.htmlsi=nYJHuWfQiFedcTuT This is I dare you yes he hits the notes!!
If you think the chorus isn't auto tuned and can't hear the loop you aren't listening very well. I've seen Shinedown live and have always enjoyed their earlier stuff, but he is not the singer he used to be.
oh, and by the way, i know a lot about music theory, because i'm gonna make a thing called "abitur" in music and maybe i'm gonna study music for getting a music teacher ;) and like i said. we germans have a different notation system
