I had a stroke at 19 and have seizures from that. I'm disabled. To get my day started every morning I play this song as soon as i wake up..Kind of my Feel good battle song.I want to say thank you for making it.
Music make us survive many situation in our life ,I truely believe this .keep your headup ,push forward every day ,like there no tomorrow and today is all that matters.
I am a RET Army combat veteran of 20 years. This song speaks to anyone that has a personal battle they are fighting. People will never know what it is like for you and unless they have gone through it, they will never understand. Shinedown is an amazing band starting from the first song I heard. Like other bands and songs have done for people, this particular song has gotten me through times that were rough, deadly rough. Even to this day. So I thank the band for the song and what it means to many of us. If they do read this by some small chance, Thank You in all sincerity and graciousness.
The guitar, drums & bass sound like this is a song from the 1980s. Brent Smith on lead vocals is probably the best singer I have heard since 1989. Even before the millennium! The drummer Berry Kerch, is excellent at his position. This song: "State of My Head" is kind of hard rock, with metal & a modern twist. With lyrics like "And our bones are shattered" and "We got that concrete street skin." also: "I'm breakin' down your door." I mentioned this was my favourite song from 1989 and that band was Skid Row. around 30-35 yrs ago.
This year at the end of 2022 was an awful year. We lost my 91 year old Nona, 4 days later my 94 year old Nono passed away. We lost my Mom's sister at the age of 61, two of my cousins passed away under the age of 55. I do understand that losing an immediate family member is even harder. Sorry for your loss.
Im 66 and these guys move this old man. I love the power these guys have. The ding about the truth in life. I had cancer 35 years ago being told i had 6 mouths to live. And id never see a grandkid , now i have 8 great grandkids. The way im leaving is when im dead thats the state of my head. Dam i just love this song. Thank You Shinedown
LOVE! I needed this album after what i have been through in this padt year and a half. I almost lost my husbsnd unexpectedly while 30 weeks pregnant with our first baby. He was medflighted to Charlotte N.C. to have emergency open heart surgery after an ascending aortic dissection on 10/18/14. He proceeded to have multiple strokes and was on a vent in a coma for 19 days with a feeding tube and a tracheostomy. They pretty much told me to get his affairs in order. When he woke up he couldn't walk he could hardly hold his head up. he done almost 7 months of hard therapy and is walking! I gave birth to our daughter on December 20th of 2014 and we all came home together from the hospital on December 23rd. My 26th birthday. Shinedown has and always will be my favorite band. Their music has comforted me through some really hard times as well as some famtastic ones! Love Threat to survival! "The state of my head is to live! For my daughter and husband. Even when I feel like giving up sometimes."
Have a goal? Reach it. Have a dream? Dream it. Have a life? Live it. Keep going, you are far stronger than you ever could have imagined. I believe in you.
JessiePVlogs through them they are helping so many folks suffering from illnesses, what a true blessing! I am praying for you Jessie, that your anxiety be BANISHED IN THE NAME OF JESUS! The LIVING WORD has SO SO MANY TIPS IN HOW TO SURVIVE anxiety / panic attacks. Face the Lion, God doesn’t want you to continue to suffer. Call out to him and he WILL heal you and take that anxiety away. I used to suffer from them also, I learned to realize that if I just hold on and start talking to God....and slow my breathing down but get busy (like start cleaning house or something physical) the anxiety will go away before you know it. Deep breathing buddy. Prayers for your healing!!!
Leave a whisper, us and them, sound of madness, and Amaryllis, you will hear their best on those 4 albums, just loaded with hits, many that made the radio and a lot more that didn't make the radio, but very well should have
I agree, I just found out about them 2 years ago when they released Get Up. Great music great band. I have now listened to most of their 6 albums. They've become my favorite band.🤟
If anyone has the chance to see Shinedown don't miss out because they're incredible live and give a great show. they're my favorite band and definitely my favorite live
I saw them live last night and I had never heard of them and they were SO AMAZING I LOVE THEM AND I LOVE WHEN THIS WAS SUNG LIVE. OMG BEST SHOW WITH GODSMACK TOO!
Shinedown did a concert in my town last month. My little brother past away on 2-21-16, we was going to go the the concert for our birthdays. The guys signed my concert ticket and I got hugs from all four of them, I had to apoloize to Brent cause I started crying when I saw him. He told me it was okay and gave me a second hug. My little brother was the one the got me hooked on these guys.
I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm really happy that they were so nice! I hope you can find comfort in listening to this group for both you and your brother.
I'm so sorry. I have a half brother and he and my dad got into a fight so now he lives about 5 states away and the only time my brother ever saw me was when I was first born. i practically lost him😞
@@ALICIAVANJACKSON2008 8 years? That is so awesome! Congratulations!! November is my belly button birth month. I am super proud of you too 🤟keep on rocking that shit!!!!!
My boyfriend loved Shinedown, but since I took him to a Shinedown concert he has never and will never be the same. He will rock out in the middle of the kitchen when Shinedown comes on.
This song just gives me chills when I hear it, I just use it as motivation against all the bullies I’ve been dealing with, and I’ll never back down when I hear this.
They are absolutely phenomenal live. They outperformed Five Finger Death Punch when I saw them a couple days ago. I will definitely be seeing them again on their next tour.
I played Simple Man every day of my 1st pregnancy. I wanted a boy so bad. Losing him at 17 weeks & seeing them on his actual due date helped me deal with it all. I have 2 beautiful teenage girls now & see Shinedown whenever around. I still ball my eyes out for Simple Man, but it helps me honor my son.
There will never be another rock band like Shinedown. This band has helped so many people I hope they know they've probably saved so many lives with their music. Brent and all the guys are fucking awesome.
They were heavier than this but they weren't thrash metal mate, that's ridiculous. They were hard rock. And they're not alternative rock now, they're pop rock.
Your songs inspire me to stay alive, because of your music! I love every word! And it makes me feel like I can get through the hard times I’m going through now! Thanks you Shinedown!
Heard this song while riding my Harley and dealing with PTSD on a 8 hour trip. Now I play it at least once a week!! Definitely has helped me deal with the crap.
Since I rediscovered Shinedown I have been absolutely positively obsessed with them. I love their positivity and the message they send out keep up the great work guys
+PillznarRy HAHAHA, I respect your thinking, BUT MAN you should listen to Adam Gontier and his songs and lyrics, he has new band called Saint Asonia ( officially best NEW rock band in 2015 ), and of course Three Days Grace ( officially best rock band in 2015 ) and best band ever for me :D
Everyone's all bitching about how Shinedown sounds different, and "it's not the same". You're right, it's not the same, but there's some of us who don't give a shit. Shinedown is Shinedown. If you can't handle their new style, you weren't a true fan to begin with.
+Mitch Watts There's a difference between being a fan and a blind follower. A fan likes someone for something. When they stop doing that something, why would you still like them? Personally I don't like their new sound, it's too poppy. That doesn't mean I don't wish them success, that doesn't mean I don't like their old music anymore. That does however mean that I will not listen to their new music. I had the same feeling when My Chemical Romance released their last album. I didn't like it so I didn't listen to it. Edit: Also, if you liked their old stuff that doesn't mean you can't like their new stuff. Change isn't always bad. It just was this time, in my opinion.
Every artist evolves in there career as to the style of music they play. I personally along with Shinedown's true fans will want that change and we do, we have and we're rocking out to the Shinedown Sound of 2024. Thanks guys for putting my emotions into lyrics with the best music ❤
Word. I will also never understand why fans turn on their favorite bands because of a band's growth and letting their artistry and musicality lead them to create new sounds and feelings and also inspired by not wanting to give their fans the same old thing over and over again. Versatility is not a bad thing, especially if versatility is mastered and Shinedown has mastered it on several occasions!
When it all began in Asheville n.c I seen them before they were popular I miss the old music love the new but back then their was just something special ❤
THIS is the song helping me get through my husband's passing. We were (I am even more so now) such big Shinedown fans. Went to their concert for our honeymoon on November 26, 2003 then saw them again on December 2, 2023 for our 20th anniversary date. That was 36 days before he passed.
At my last school, everyone basically hated me for no reason, and every time the bruises they gave me faded, I'd just get more. They made me feel like nothing, but shinedown kept me going, kept me fighting through life, and I'm here now. Yes, memories still haunt me and hurt me, but I'm letting them go. I'm leaving it behind and I've started over at my new school, with new people. I actually have friends now, and I feel happier than I have for a long time. I've been there for about a year and a half, and the people there are like family to me. Thank you for letting me come this far
Every one of their songs finds a way into my life! Just saw them in concert for the first time, absolutely awesome concert and a truly genuine dude. He even went out onto the lawn, in the rain, and sung to the people sitting out there!
This is what makes Shinedown great. They aren't all noise like others are nowadays, they're pure straight down to the voice into the mic and stick to the drum kind of band.
+Andrew DeLorenzo 100% agreed! You know it's real talent when you see no real set. Just instruments and great vocals. They are a really nice group of guys to. care for their fans. Big fan in MA was a kid with disabilities. They found him, now every time they are near here - they call the kid and send a limo to pick him up to see the show stage side! EVERY TIME! Dont see that much anymore.
+Tam Lee You know a band really cares about their fans and their community when they do something like that! I've been a huge fan of them for so many years, back in 2008 my friend would always play the Sound of Madness album everyday we hungout and I didn't know who Shinedown was at first but I loved them after hearing the album seemingly hundreds of times. Since then I've gotten hooked on all of Shinedowns music and covers. Hopefully I'm lucky enough to meet Brent, Zach, Barry an Eric someday, that truly would be a dream come true.
Ptsd from self defense and childhood abuse I hate my life sometimes and others I don’t think i deserve to be loved but I take solace in the fact not much more can get worse. This song is dope it’s a fight song for sure
This song came out much after I endured the childhood I did. One of the few songs that constantly remind me of what I've conquered and overcame. And that if I could make it through those things, I can make it through anything. Love hearing that these 4 amazing men are inspiration to so many others. 💜
I had suffered years of trauma and abuse the need to get back up and try again and learn to stand up for myself after all this time has been a long and bumpy road. Thank you for the strength.
Teodus Filus they are on tour together. them and Sixx:A. M. And As Lions. I just saw all of them at the Tacoma done in Washington and all for bands killed it
Nick Kamp yep saw all 4 of them on Halloween. personally I thought Shinedown was the main event but FFDP was technically the main event I just liked Shinedown's performance so much more. But then again I like their music more too haha
@Shinedown if you read this by some lucky chance for me. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my life on more than one occasion. Since I’ve joined the military, life’s been beating me down. But this song picks me back up. This song along with diamond eyes and what a shame.
I am a U.S. ARMY Vet, keep your head up. Life isn't easy, military life especially. Trust me, one day you will look back at your time in the service as one of the best experiences in your life. Be proud of your service and keep your head up.
If you ever need to talk I'm here for you brother. They have helped me out in the bad times as well. Those who shared my oath are my family and I'm always here for my family.
I fell in love with Shinedown from the very first album!! I was fortunate enough to see them with 5FDP and one of the greatest shows I have ever seen!! Keep kicking ass Shinedown you guy's are fucking amazing!! Plus like I have commented on other Shinedown videos your music helped get me through some of the most dire and horrible times of my life from being homeless, drug and alcohol addicted, suicidal, my depression and PTSD.....this is real, honest and life changing/saving music!!! Thank you Shinedown!!
Nope. RED SUN RISING is. At least their not like every other band, trying to get the best sounds and trying to copy everyone else with one different thing to prevent looking like a copycat. RSR has great emotion in their songs, as My Muse is my favorite song now. They have a good 90's style music, which sets them apart from every other band.
Great songwriters, great performers, serious musicians, and great lyrics: "We've been shot up, beat up by the fallin' of the arrows (arrows, arrows, arrows) Yeah, I'm full of deep cuts right down to the marrow But there's no doubt we'll get out from the bottom of the barrel." It says how so many of us out there feel.
I've been listening to this band for many many years and I have seen them in concert soo many times as well. And I have to say I STILL CANT GET ENOUGH OF THEM!!! I LOVE BRENT! HE is awesome. Just a wonderful singer and all around gentlemen. I saw them for the 1st time probably 17yrs ago when I had Back Stage passes to see my boys Godsmack (seriously know them) lol and they were the opening band. I had never heard of them before. Then they were warming up before the show and did Simple Man! That was it! I was hooked!! I fell in love with them right then and there! And now they are my favorite over Godsmack! Shhhh! Don't tell Sully I said that! lol
The fucking chorus... “They don’t know where we’ve been, we got that CONCRETE-STREET SKIN!” Makes me feel like I can walk through walls. One of their best songs, no doubt.
As someone who has struggled with OCD and depression this song definitely hits right where it feels. The quality of the music video is amazing as well could tell they put a lot of time and effort into putting this out there for us to see. Rock on!
SHINEDOWN WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY ?? ROCK ON, ROCK ON DONT MATTER WHAT YA PLAY OF SHINEDOWN ITS GOING TO BE OFF THE CHAIN~~~ "IT ALL ROCKS" This is one of my FAVORITE ones but gosh they all be kickin!!! Thanks SHINEDOWN, your Doing What it is your to be doing! ♥️DAWN👱♥️✝️
❤Thanks to shinedown for saving my life love them one hell of a band rock on boys. With you in the world there would be music that makes the world go around ❤Amazing band and voice ❤
SHINEDOWN!! Hey guys! I am soooo excited that you will be playing in Kearney Nebraska in June!! I just wanted to give you a heads up that State of My Head should be played and dedicated to the Huskers!! If you know anything about Nebraska is that we bleed red...Husker Red that is!! Our humble Kearney venue will erupt louder than any stadium you have ever played in if you do this!! Thanks for stopping in Kearney!! We can't wait for this concert!!!
I struggle with depression and this song motivates me to get out of bed and get ready for school. But when I come home I break. And it just sucks. So thank you shinedown for motivating me.
I have to say this.. I know a lot of people have their own opinions, but to say they strayed away from Shinedown music is insane. They said that they would change the music up on this album and they did. And it ROCKS. I love every song on this album. Sound of Madness will probably always be my favorite, but this is my second favorite album now. I will continue to love and support them and this album. Amazing job as always guys! Love ya'll so much! 😊 PS: loved that Jake was in the beginning of the video! He's AWESOME. 👍
This is literally one of the best songs ever !!!!! It got me though A LOT of hard times thank you shinedown and bless you all !! Ps can't wait to see u guys live June 24 2018!!!
My anthem is this great song! Shinedown is and always will be My Favorite Band! I've been Blessed to see them in concert twice at the Bon Secours Wellness Center in Greenville SC, first time in 2016, when they were touring with Five Finger Death Punch and again in 2018 while touring with Godsmack and Asking Alexandria...I'm hoping that they'll be coming back to the Bon Secours Wellness Center soon...I've been a fan since the first time I heard them...💖
So no "Call Me or Crow & the Butterfly" on this years tour set-list???? My 2 favorites!!!!!! I want to go 3/17/19...my birthday...will be my 4th time seeing them!
