SHINee - Atlantis - UK K-Pop Fans Reaction 

While Minho is the one who does most of the rap parts, Key also has quite a lot, especially in their earlier songs. So I would say that they together kind of make up the ‘rap line’ even though key is definitely an amazing vocalist and they’re all great singers as a group.

Shinee is actually the group that made dance practices popular. Yes Onew is the leader. At debut the lineup was: Vocal line: Onew, Jonghyun, Key Rap Line: Minho, Key Dance Line: Taemin, Key This is why Key has the nickname “The Almighty”. One thing I love about groups is seeing the evolution and members going outside of these roles as the group gets older. I would recommend the video “Shinee setting the bar so high no one can reach it” for some of their impact on the kpop industry. Thank you so much for the reaction!

Originally Jonghyun was main vocal and Onew was lead, with Key rounding out the vocal "line". Now Onew is the de-facto main vocalist even though when asked about it a few years ago he deflected saying that SHINee were all main vocalists now, and with Taemin's great improvements he has taken on much of that heavy-lifting too! If you want to see more rapping from MinKey, "Alive", "Odd Eye", "Don't Let Me Go" and "Hold You" all showcase them well, as well as "Love Should Go On", "Love Still Goes On", "Get Down" and of course "The SHINee World (Doo-Bop)" from their rookie years

The problem with SHINee is that pretty much every comeback is iconic, and every comeback is very different, so trying to choose songs that defined an era is almost impossible...

Minho is called Flaming Charisma for a reason :)

Minho and key are rap line but key has been doing vocal in their songs a lot more for the past while. Their relationship is one of my fav in the entire industry. They the same age with such a love hate relationship as they are total opposites. Minho is all sports working out competitive and key is flamboyant fashion girl groups and sassy. Honestly they are so good

There'll always be a lot of change between different title tracks/albums. Shinee are and always were an experimental group for SM, so there's huge diversity in their work, although maintaining a super strong identity. There's so much more for you to check out! I recommend 1 of 1, Tell me What to do, Everybody, Good Evening next! I also really hope you check out some live stages, you haven't really seen Shinee until you've seen them live. Try Ring Ding Dong + Lucifer from SWC5, Stranger and Excuse Me Miss from SCW4, Please Don't Go from SWC5.

Like others have said the rapline was originally Key and Minho though Key has always had random killer adlibs/vocals, hes taken on more and more vocal powerhouse-ness(?) since 2018. Key is a true ace. I would honestly go as far to say that SHINee5 is a group of Transcendents. They are the keystone. You also havent seen anything until you've watched a SHINee live performance!

SHINee started dance practices being posted with their iconic Lucifer in the SM cloud room, with toilet paper center marker, and Taemin’s trippy striped shirt. It was only after that was posted that groups began posting their DP videos.

Minho is the main rapper but Key is lead so he also raps… Jonghyun was the main vocalist and Onew was lead but you can say he’s main vocalist now with the 4 of them though they are of course always OT5.

As you may know, "Atlantis" -- which is the title track from SHINee's repackaged Atlantis album that came out in 2021 and is a partner album to their Don't Call Me album -- is a mythical city that is part of a story within Greek mythology, referring to the Lost City of Atlantis. The story of Atlantis is most often depicted as a utopian society on an island that became submerged and lost in the middle of the ocean. SHINee's MV is referencing to the lost city of Atlantis, so it's supposed to look like they are visiting Atlantis at the bottom of the sea. The whole MV is a reference to the story of Atlantis, which is why you see them selling seafood and why they are underwater, etc. Yes, all the members of SHINee have amazing high note abilities. I'm not even exaggerating. SHINee are known as vocal kings for a reason. That is what makes SHINee so outstanding and why they are so highly respected in the industry. They are idols of idols and legends even among legends for a reason. Onew, SHINee's leader -- the smiley one with the brown cardigan sweater -- is the one with the high note that was shocking you. He is actually known as one the best male vocalists that all other idols covet a chance to get to sing with. And if you are impressed with that 8 second high note, just wait until you see his cover performance of "Friend" way back at the beginning of his career. He actually holds the record for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch at 40+ seconds. Key is the one with the teal patchwork jacket and the purple sparkly top, Minho is the one with the tiger striped sweater and Taemin is the one with the red leather jacket. How I interpret the MV, the convenience store is a cover for the fact that it sits on top of a portal to the city of Atlantis. To the average person, the store just looks like a regular store, but if you are in on the secret, you know that if you head to the storage room or basement, etc. you will find a magical elevator/submarine that will take you to "Atlantis." I think that move in the choreography where Key and Minho make the circle is them gathering all their power and love and they are blasting it all to the fans (Shawols) or they are sending all their love to the girl who they are singing about in the song, etc. like a superhero who is summoning all their powers. The SHINee members are supposed to have power as the keepers of the portal to "Atlantis," etc. Plus, if I had to guess, it also might be something linking SHINee to SM's SM Culture Universe. Most of SM's groups' storylines are connected in some way and they are all part of one big story. For example, I think the soda can we see appear in Key's hand in "Atlantis" is connected to the soda can we see in Key's solo "Hate That ..." MV. (However, I'm not yet sure whether the can magically pops into his hand in "Atlantis" because it is coming from its original location in "Hate That ..." or if it appears in "Hate That ..." because Key brought it from "Atlantis." ) Because Minho writes all his own rap sections in SHINee's songs, they are all very meaningful, and are strategically placed in the song for a reason. If you pay attention to his lyrics you will see they have a lot of deep meaning and they enhance the story and add more depth to the song. For example, the long sss sound you hear at the end of his rap lines in "Atlantis" are supposed to mimic the sound of waves as they crash on shore or against the rocks, etc. Minho is actually quite poetic when it comes to his songwriting. Fun fact: Although all the aqua blue you see in this MV is supposed to represent water and the city of Atlantis, because SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua, all the aqua, blue and green colors you see in the MV also represent SHINee as a group and their connection to their fans.

Your description of Minho's personality and vibe is spot on. The middle part you're missing is the 2018 Deriroga, I want You, Our Page era. Its a complicated era but it is still very enjoyable musically.

SHINee's tagline is being a "contemporary band," meaning they've never really stuck to one concept. So, unfortunately, it's kind of hard to say that any one title track defines an era... I love Shinee, they are five extraordinary artists (both as a group and as soloists). In May they celebrated 16 years since their debut. I recommend you watch their live shows... they are the top.

You can't miss with 5hinee. I recommend Orgel, Beautiful, Better Off...there aren't many reactions. Their live performances are amazing. Solo work is fantastic as well.

The main vocalist was the late Jonghyun ) but they are all actually mains as they can do everything. Main vocalist these days is onew. Main visual and Sun rapper is Minho Main rapper is key and Taemin is main dancer.
